Color Blocking + my DIY Destroyed Skinny Jeans!

I showed a sneak peek of these over the weekend in the tutorial for how I made some DIY destroyed jeans for me and Maya.  I love how they turned out, and can’t wait to do some more 🙂

Boho Tops…come in handy when you go out :)

It was my friend’s birthday the other night, so we went to someplace special.  He’s a total foodie, so we let him pick the spot.  When I looked at the menu, I knew I needed a top that had “room to grow” haha.  That is one of the things I love so much about “boho” tops.  They are loose and flow so you can’t see the “after food and wine belly” 🙂

Blog Winter Kate Top DL1961 Coated Jeans-1 Blog Winter Kate Top DL1961 Coated Jeans-2I love stacking jewelry.  Even before it was the thing to do.  Mainly because I’m too lazy to take anything off and rotate, so I just keep everything on haha.  This time I mixed $4 bangles from H&M with…a not $4 bracelet 🙂 Blog Winter Kate Top DL1961 Coated Jeans-3 Blog Winter Kate Top DL1961 Coated Jeans-4 Blog Winter Kate Top DL1961 Coated Jeans-5 Blog Winter Kate Top DL1961 Coated Jeans-6And because it was a “going out” night, I didn’t get mixed pics of me and Maya, but I took these a few weeks ago and never blogged them.  I have a small obsession with Osh Kosh overalls.  Call it a generational thing 🙂Blog Maya 105 weeks Green Striped Osh Kosh Overalls-1 Blog Maya 105 weeks Green Striped Osh Kosh Overalls-2 Blog Maya 105 weeks Green Striped Osh Kosh Overalls-3On me…

Super Mom Tip
These tops are great for so many occasions/times in your life.  Wear them in the first trimester when you are trying to “hide the bump”.  Then wear them after the baby comes to…well, “hide the bump” :{  Then, wear them when you have a two year old to hide the food baby 🙂  That said.  It’s best to wear loose flowing tops with tighter bottoms to even things out. 🙂

It was another all black kind of day…

Do you ever have those days when you feel so overwhelmed with work, kids, and LIFE that the last thing you want to think about is “what am I going to wear?”??  Yeah, me too!! 🙂

Gray Frye Booties…what do I do with you?

I bought these boots a while ago, and thought they were perfect!  Until…I tried to mix them into outfits.  The color is a little light… I can’t quite figure out a color scheme that works with them.  After many attempts, I figured I’d just go for it and see how it looked on camera.  It really is funny how I’ll see something in the mirror and think it looks good, but when I take pictures of it, I think….what was I thinking??  Kind of makes me feel bad for celebrities.  Kind of… 😉

That is one of the things I’m really liking about doing this blog.  The experimenting… Trying outfits I might not have tried before.  Well, that, and actually just getting out of my work out clothes and taking a shower haha 🙂Blog Design History Cardigan Joes Jeans Frye Booties-1 Blog Design History Cardigan Joes Jeans Frye Booties-2 Blog Design History Cardigan Joes Jeans Frye Booties-3 Blog Design History Cardigan Joes Jeans Frye Booties-4This face makes me forget all about bootie woes 🙂 Blog Design History Cardigan Joes Jeans Frye Booties-5 Blog Design History Cardigan Joes Jeans Frye Booties-6 Blog Design History Cardigan Joes Jeans Frye Booties-7She kept going up and down this driveway.  Up…and down.  Up…and down.  Don’t you wish it was that easy to find joy as an adult? 🙂 Blog Design History Cardigan Joes Jeans Frye Booties-8 Blog Design History Cardigan Joes Jeans Frye Booties-9So…I’d welcome any suggestions on how to wear these boots!  I LOVE them, but they have just been sitting on my shelf :{.  They need to be worn!

Faux leather leggings? I’m not sure I’m sold…

Do you ever have a trend/article of clothing that you really want to work, but for some reason you can’t make it?  Well, that’s how I feel about my faux leather leggings.  I feel weird even typing that out.  Am I too old for faux leather leggings?  Say no!!! 😦  Alas…I might be.

I didn’t even blog the first attempt, it was so bad, albeit COMFORTABLE.  At first I blamed it on the sweater.  I keep trying THAT too, and don’t like the deep V!  Grrr, two wrongs obviously don’t make a right!  Anywho, I realized I shouldn’t hide my “misses”.  So, here it is-first attempt. BlogFauxLeatherLeggingsSweater-5Did I mention how comfortable they are?  So…I tried them again.  This time I chose a different sweater…. Not 100% sold on this outfit either, but I do like it better than the first try.Blog Black HM Sweater Faux Leather Leggings-1Seriously, it’s comedic how much Maya loves the self timer sometimes. Super Mom Tip-
Don’t be afraid to try new trends or step out of your comfort zone, but don’t spend a lot of $$ unless you try the less expensive version out.  I buy a majority of my “tries” on eBay, but I also love H&M if you like to try things on.  I actually found these Forever 21 leggings at Value Village (new with the tag!) for $2.50.  Can’t beat that for a test drive.  Even if I did crash and burn…twice.
If you find that you love it, then go for a more quality piece that will last/fit better.

Can we just pretend I took a shower?

Ok, good.  Now let’s carry on.  🙂

Ever since starting this blog, I’ve started dressing up a little more than I have since I started working from home (which was 6 years ago).  The Huz is really liking that part 🙂  I’ve always had the other clothes, but kind of fell into a rut.  When you work from home, are a stay at home mom, or in my case both, it can just be easier to stay in your sweats haha.  Most days, I don’t take my shower until later in the day, which means hair in a bun…  All that said, I feel SO much better about myself when I do get out of my sweats and actually put some thought into my clothes.  Even if I don’t make it into the shower haha 🙂

So, I may not have taken a shower, nor put a lot of thought into my outfit, but at least I’m not in my sweats 🙂blog H&M Army coat J Brand Jeans Black Frye Harness Boots-2 blog H&M Army coat J Brand Jeans Black Frye Harness Boots-3Oh, but wait…at least we don’t match!1Maya 103 weeks rain boots vest-1On me…

Fun with the fog…or really, just having fun :)

I have been LOVING all the fog we’ve been having here in Seattle.  It’s SO much fun to photograph!  Clients always get excited by sun (so limiting for pictures!), but fog…love it!  Some like sun flare…I like fog flare 😉

Having fun with plaid…

Or…just having fun 🙂

Mixing masculine with feminine…

Today was a bit of a rough day.  I had to take Maya to yet another urologist, and she’s gotten to the point now where the minute they call her name to go back she starts crying hysterically.  Not without good reason considering they had to do another catheter-ugh.  Needless to say, we were both in tears by the end of the visit…

Super Mom Tip:
I posted one of the pics of Maya and me on my facebook page and a friend commented on my hair.  I laughed, because it was my “I didn’t take a shower and was sick of my usual messy bun” look.  Pretty easy to do.  Just start twisting one side (fix with bobby pin).  Twist other side, then gather both into a ponytail.  Then wrap into a bun.  Turns curly out of control bedhead into something a little put together 🙂dit-elle-Lauren

Are we sick of leopard flats? I’m not… :)

I may have already worn these flats a few times, but I love how they add fun to a pretty simple outfit.  Blog Ivory 360 Cashmere Dylan George Coated Leopard Flats-1And…”super mom tip gone bad”  I mentioned before my dislike of taking things to the drycleaner (who has time?!), and my frequent tossing of “dry clean only” items in the wash.  Well, this sweater is 100% cashmere.  I’d washed it on gentle before and it came out great!  Then…it accidentally went into the dryer.  Wah wah wah 😦  I’m actually ok with the length, but am totally bummed that it’s more of a traditional turtleneck than the cowl neck it was before… Oh, well.  I got it on the cheap off eBay (about 90% off!), so I guess I can’t cry over it too much…

All that said.  I layered a little boho tank underneath so it wasn’t too short with these very tight skinny jeans.Blog Ivory 360 Cashmere Dylan George Coated Leopard Flats-2 Blog Ivory 360 Cashmere Dylan George Coated Leopard Flats-3I am SO buying the size up on these when Maya finally grows out of them!!  For $6, I LOVE THEM! Super Mom tip *edited*
For the most part, I wash my cashmere sweaters in the wash on “wool delicate”, but make sure you keep an eagle eye out for when the load is done.  Someone might help and throw it in the dryer 😉  This does NOT work well with regular wool or cashmere blends.  That will fit your child when you are done, which I guess could be a super mom tip on how to find sweaters for you child 🙂
