I’m pretty sure it’s obvious, but I am so obsessed with stripes! The “don’t wear horizontal stripes” is for sure a rule to break. Everyone can! Little hints of it peeking out of layering…LOVE!!! I’m also a bit obsessed with the faux fur trend, but have only really had the nerve to try it out on Maya (my little fashion guinea pig :}) See the below expression? That would be me awkwardly trying to talk to a neighbor that came out while the self timer was going off. Hey, I have a limited window of Maya snacking in the wagon. I’ve got to keep this moving! 🙂 He eventually went back inside… And THIS is why I am so thankful I’m doing this blog. Are you kidding me with that smile? LOVE HER! In her hand is a doll from LinaMarieDolls. They are SO CUTE (sorry, I didn’t get a better picture of the doll, but getting Maya to “show me the doll” wasn’t exactly working. I won it in a cut throat auction, and have never been so glad to spend more than retail price on anything! 🙂 It’s all for a good cause, right? She has SO many other cute creations!! I foresee our house being overrun by them… 🙂 I see so many other bloggers talking about “reality” vs “blogging reality”. I admit. I’m only posting pictures that look good. Where me and Maya look happy. Duh. Honestly, I’m so lucky. Maya really is a happy kid, but I HAD to put these in here. These are SO going to be my teenage years… This is such a blogger pose below… And remember this sweater in red? YES, I found it in another thrift store in cream. Same “too big” size! This one was $1.50. SCORE!! Now, back to reality. “I’m jumping!!” Lastly. Wow, I’m rambling a LOT in this post. I’m not sure if any of you care about coats, but I’m thinking with the crazy weather in the US, the answer is yes?! I LOVE vintage coats. They are a fraction of the cost, look totally current (most designers base their looks on vintage coats), and nobody else will have them (WIN!!). All around SCORE as far as I’m concerned!! I haven’t really blogged much about outerwear, but I thought I might at the end for those that care. Pretty sure I got this coat for less than $20. It’s been a while… On me…

I wore this outfit when the Huz and I went out to dinner with my parents. These pants from H&M are a liiiiittle hard to get on, but they have an elastic waist so they are totally comfy.

It was the perfect time to go all out with the color on Maya. This is so not me (therefore not her haha) to wear such bold colors and flowers, but I love it! She had to wear the hat (she wears it around the house constantly)! Hey, it kind of matches, so we went with it! I’ll admit that I didn’t realize just how tight these pants were until I looked back on these pictures :{ Darn holiday indulging! Kind of looks like she’s break dancing! Nope, just jumping in the puddle 🙂 I could eat her up, she’s so flipping cute… On me…

I am such a sucker for Converse. I snap them up every time I see them at a thrift store, and I may have screeched when I saw these silver glitter ones for Maya. And $4?!! How could I not??? A little scrubbing on the rubber part, and they look almost new! Mine are also thrifted. I think for $10? Not as good as $4, but I still love them 🙂

Ok, so a while ago I showed two different attempts at wearing these. I wasn’t sold on either one, but they are SO comfy that I thought I’d try again. I am a total sucker for a deal. In fact, I almost never pay full price for anything! The thought of fighting the crowds at stores makes me want to poke my eyes out, but sitting online perusing all the fabulous deals? It’s my weakness 🙂

Here are a few of my finds from this morning.

H&M has a ton of ridiculous markdowns on some simple staples. Zara very rarely has sales. I had to check it out… 🙂 Love this fun top. I was DYING over all their kids stuff, but it’s still more than I’m willing to pay for clothes that Maya will only wear for a few months… And the best for last! StyleMint is doing 50% off all regular priced items and they have a ton of other markdowns up to 70% off!!! Plus, you get a free gift with $50 purchase 🙂 I have a feeling I will wear this jacket with everything!! And yes, I did score some stuff for the Huz and Maya too 🙂

Faux leather leggings? I’m not sure I’m sold…

Do you ever have a trend/article of clothing that you really want to work, but for some reason you can’t make it? Well, that’s how I feel about my faux leather leggings. I feel weird even typing that out. Am I too old for faux leather leggings? Say no!!! 😦 Alas…I might be.

I didn’t even blog the first attempt, it was so bad, albeit COMFORTABLE. At first I blamed it on the sweater. I keep trying THAT too, and don’t like the deep V! Grrr, two wrongs obviously don’t make a right! Anywho, I realized I shouldn’t hide my “misses”. So, here it is-first attempt. Did I mention how comfortable they are? So…I tried them again. This time I chose a different sweater…. Not 100% sold on this outfit either, but I do like it better than the first try.Seriously, it’s comedic how much Maya loves the self timer sometimes. Love this tunic from the Gap (old :() So, what are your thoughts on faux leather leggings? Should I try them again??

Super Mom Tip-

Don’t be afraid to try new trends or step out of your comfort zone, but don’t spend a lot of $$ unless you try the less expensive version out. I buy a majority of my “tries” on eBay, but I also love H&M if you like to try things on. I actually found these Forever 21 leggings at Value Village (new with the tag!) for $2.50. Can’t beat that for a test drive. Even if I did crash and burn…twice.

If you find that you love it, then go for a more quality piece that will last/fit better.

So for our first date night on our getaway, I wore my new suede pants. The 2nd night it was a faux leather! I love this faux leather top from ASTR. I’ve been dying to wear it, but it’s been too cold in Seattle. Perfect for a sunny California getaway 🙂 Such fun details… Then, not to leave Maya out… I took these a little while ago on a “sweats day” haha. She’s obsessed with these snowboots! And…her duck 🙂

I may have just snagged this Gap shirt at a thrift store for $6, but I’ve had a version of this outfit for the last…um 20+ years? :} There are certain things you should just never get rid of. Ever since starting this blog, I’ve started dressing up a little more than I have since I started working from home (which was 6 years ago). The Huz is really liking that part 🙂 I’ve always had the other clothes, but kind of fell into a rut. When you work from home, are a stay at home mom, or in my case both, it can just be easier to stay in your sweats haha. Most days, I don’t take my shower until later in the day, which means hair in a bun… All that said, I feel SO much better about myself when I do get out of my sweats and actually put some thought into my clothes. Even if I don’t make it into the shower haha 🙂

So, I may not have taken a shower, nor put a lot of thought into my outfit, but at least I’m not in my sweats 🙂 Oh, but wait…at least we don’t match!On me…
