Low Back Apron Dress with Vintage Accessories for date night!

It was actually Charlie’s birthday  1️⃣9️⃣😳😭, and Maya wanted to get all dressed up (as per usual).
🥰
C clearly didn’t want pics. 😂

I didn’t wear this to our neighborhood restaurant, but changed when we got home, because…why not? 🤣🤷🏼‍♀️

it came with a belt of the same fabric, but I added my own vintage one for some added fun.
🤗😍❤️

So, admittedly, I hadn’t tried this dress on when I bought it.  I got it when we were in Chicago a few weeks ago, and was in a hurry.

Honestly, I thought it would be super sweet in the front, and low in the back.  The ruffles meaning I wouldn’t need to wear a bra-WIN!

OBSESSED with the back of the dress!!
What I wasn’t expecting….how revealing it would be on the side-WHOOPS!!
THANK GOD there were to wardrobe malfunctions!!
LOVE! Her Fingerling that she recently thrifted for $2, that she couldn’t NOT have with her… Remember when these were ALL THE RAGE and you couldn’t buy one for Christmas except on ebay for $100?!!  Yeah, she didn’t get one that year, and has wanted one ever since…

On me…

Belt- Vintage (thrifted)
Bag- Vintage (thrifted)
Sandals- Koolaburra “Alexa” (eBay)
On Maya…
Dress- Milly Mini (eBay $5!!!, and she’s obsessed! similar here)
Shoes- Tom’s “Correa” Sandal (thrifted)
Keeping it Real…
Had to get a pic with the Fingerling!
Funny thing…My remote broke again, so we did these all with a 10 second timer.  SO…not as
many outtakes (oddly), but…
Yup, almost a wardrobe malfunction, and we weren’t even doing anything!!
If there is a cat or dog near…Maya will not pay any attention to me.
(all pictures taken with a shutter release and tripod, except ones of Maya :))

Fringe Leather Jacket + Distressed Skinnies + Clogs (date night | Mama’s Night Out)

 So….these images are old …

Like….SEVEN MONTHS OLD!

I used to be so good about blogging, and now, I find that I’m just doing what NEEDS TO BE DONE!!

But I’m attempting to catch up and blog a bunch of photos that we’ve taken, because I can’t let them go undocumented!

These looked current, for what the weather is doing now, but I looked back and they were taken back in NOVEMBER!  hahaha.  Oh, well.

BUT….I love them, and have no idea what was really going on at this point in time, so… sadly I have no documentation other than what I see now.
Gotta love my neighbors walking by…
Yeah, and usually one comes up behind me walking their dog! This fringe and stud detailing…LOVE!!!

I still can’t believe I scored it for !! Always obsessed with our matching clogs from Sven!!
Her face!! Then 5 minutes later the sun was gone and it started to rain…

Oddly enough it rained tonight too!  SO…let’s just pretend we took these in July 2019, ok?

LOVE these next two though!!!

On me…

Jacket- Doma (ebay)
Top- Nation LTD (ebay)
Jeans- RtA “Sonia” (eBay)
Clogs- Sven “Ankle Wrap Strap”C/O
On Maya…
Jacket- Hudson Kids (ebay, but similar here)
Dress- Vintage Hanna Andersson (thrifted)
Keeping it Real…
Well, it’s inevitable at this point.  Everyone is walking their dogs or their kids if it’s not raining
so….HI!  Don’t mind us!
And, without fail…my cheap timer goes off when I don’t want it to.  BUT…it’s cheap, and…it’s
from Amazon, so… 🙂
(all pictures taken with a shutter release and tripod, except ones of Maya :))

Mother’s Day 2019

“A mother’s arms are more comforting than anyone else’s.”

– Princess Diana

Well said… and I’ll also add…love and laughter. The two components that make it all worthwhile.

SO glad I have both with my mom and Maya! And even more thankful that Maya has it with my mom too!

It’s a tradition.

The thing my mom and I both want for Mother’s Day?

Pictures!

We used to try and go to a “location” but found that going across the street after dinner for a few minutes made everyone more happy 😂

I think I can safely say for both my mom and myself that we will treasure these forever! ❤️

LOOOOVE  this next one!! LOVE this one too!!!
Truth be told.  The Huz and I were trying to get a picture of just us.  Of course, the quickest way to get Maya into a picture is to NOT want her in one.
Of course she hopped in and made it the most perfect picture!!
My mom got of few of just me.  This dress is SO comfy!!

On me…

Dress- Gypsy (eBay, similar here)
Belt- Vintage
Sandals- Birkenstock “Gizeh” (thrifted, like new for $25!!)

On Maya…

Dress- Fleurisse “Samantha” (eBay for$3.50-retail $245!!!)
Sandals- Stuart Weitzman Kids “Camia Ava” (thrifted, similar here)

Keeping it Real…

I swear every time we take family pictures my mom and I think…”Well, hopefully we got ONE!!” haha.  And then every time we get SO MANY!!  But it’s not always smooth sailing and happy laughter and smiles… 😉 .

We were taking pictures right in front of my neighbors house, and of course they came outside…haha.  Don’t mind us.  Fortunately, they are used to it by now!Hope everyone had an amazing Mother’s Day!!

Leather Jacket + Cami + High Waisted Crops + Pointy Toe High Boots

This look originally came about from The Mom Edit’s latest Style Challenge.

The first style challenge was “Layer a Cami over something Warmer”, and I posted my take on it here.

If I’m being honest…it was fun to think outside of the box, but I’m not sure I’d have felt comfortable wearing that out for date night… So, I removed the button down, and this is definitely more “me”.

And CLEARLY before “SNOWMAGEDON!”

BUT….date night thoughts for those not huddled in their houses tomorrow by the fire… The high waisted crop flare is absolutely my fav jean right now, but it’s harder to wear in the winter.  I put a pair of high and tight booties on, and suddenly…no more cold ankles!

And totally date night worthy!
I have gotten sooooo much mileage out of this vintage belt!!  On of the many reasons I love to thrift!

On me…

Cami- Foley (old, similar here and less expensive here)
Belt- Vintage (thrifted)
Leather Jacket- Remake Remodel (eBay for $16!! similar here and cute faux option here)
Heels- Nine West (old, similar here and here)
Keeping it Real…
I showed a video of it being garbage day when I was taking these, but I didn’t capture the construction that was going on at the end of the block… Yes, I was surrounded, and…yes, I did outfit changes hahaha.  No shame in my game at this point!!
And…I had thoughts of taking pics without my jacket, but….it was 40-something degrees.  Didn’t happen.  Ok, it did, but it’s not worth posting haha.

Adding Edge to a Preppy Look…

My mood totally changes with how I want to dress…boho, edgy, rock, grunge…

The one look I’m not that comfortable in is preppy. I feel totally out of place. 🙈 BUT…add a studded belt, and some funky cut out platforms, and I feel ok. 🤣

This might also be in the running for Thanksgiving! And…both of our entire outfits are thrifted or from Ebay 🙌🏻🤑

Also, to keep this post extra disjointed and random 😂 I’m super thankful for a week off with this sweet nugget. ❤️❤️❤️ I may be having to squeeze work in here and there, but getting to hang with her all day is pretty awesome.

Some pics we took from the other day’s AMAZING golden hour ✨💫 (at 3:30 😂)  Mom…spread your arms out wide like you’re flying… I KNEW what she meant, but…I mean.  I had to.Me once again not realizing where I need to be and dancing out of the frame…

OR…creative crop?!This face…

BUT…that light!!!
As the sun went down, I switched angles…

That golden light!!!

And…Maya off playing with my phone that she found in my bag ;} Maya is actually wearing boys jeans.  I am not afraid to buy from the boys section when thrifting!  Roll them up, and they are super cute and comfy boyfriend jeans! LOOOOOVE this next one! A glimpse into the future tween and teen years… BUT THEN… My same goofy girl that just wants to run in for a hug! and I want to eat her up.So….I took a picture of Maya and then my camera went wonky.  It would take a picture, but wouldn’t show me what it took.

Now…I have a very nice camera (not bragging, it’s my job, and it was a gift from my parents), so when it goes wonky and won’t take pics, I freak out!

But…in my test shots, it took this.  I didn’t have it on manual, so…weird.

YET…I LOVE IT!

And, love it even more, because my camera is back to normal!!  NO idea if I inadvertently hit a button but…PHEW!

On me…

Sweater- 7 FAM (eBay, similar here)
Top- Calypso St Barths (eBay, similar here)
Shoes- Summit by White Mountain “Brody” (thrifted for $3.75!)
On Maya…
Jacket- Bernardo (thrifted, but similar here)
Sweatshirt- Crewcuts by J Crew (thrifted, but similar here)
Jeans- Hudson Kids (thrifted, but similar here)
Keeping it Real…
Trying soooooo hard to keep a straight face 🙂
And failing 🙂 She loooooves to play with my phone. It’s actually fun for me to go back and look at all the pictures and videos she’s taken on my phone!  I complain about it and tell her NOT to…but…I secretly like it later.
🙂
The trigger on the top of my camera fell off, so she was like “Uh oh…no more pictures!”
😉
(all pictures taken with a shutter release and tripod, except ones of Maya :))

Vintage Tweed Jacket + High Waisted Crop Raw Hem Flares + Sheepskin Lined Clogs

Well, we are officially in the cold weather, and I’m thinking about Thanksgiving outfits.

We have a pretty laid back casual Thanksgiving. We usually host, and I’m usually still cooking/cleaning/prepping until people start showing up. 😏

SO…I have to be comfy. This honestly might be what I end up wearing.

Sweater (I gotta try, right? 😜) + High Waisted Jeans (to hold in my overstuffed tummy 🙈🐷) + Warm sheepskin lined clogs (comfort, cozy, and cute-the 3 c’s! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻)

I’m determined to shoot a few more options up until then, so I’m not frantically deciding the afternoon of… I’ve realized that I’ve photographed these jeans repeatedly (ok, not sure I’ve posted them repeatedly yet, but they are coming!!)

…but they are SO comfy and so flattering, SO… 🙂

On me…

Jacket- Vintage (similar here and less expensive here)
Sweater- Acrobat
Jeans- 3×1 (ebay)
Clogs- Ugg “Kalie” clog (ebay, sold out)
Keeping it Real…
When it’s just me, I don’t have as many outtakes.  And that’s only because I literally took 5 minutes from the first to the last shot.
(all pictures taken with a self timer/shutter release and tripod, except ones of Maya :))

Party Dresses on the Beach at Sunset…

A little over a month ago, Maya and I participated in a photo challenge put on by Red Tricycle and Disney Junior.  I posted one of our entries along with a quick chia pudding recipe here.

We didn’t win, but we sure did have fun!  We ended up knocking out 3 days worth of challenges in this one shoot, because…as fun as it was.  It took time!  And time is a hot commodity these days.  The best part was that we were doing it together though!  And Maya was excited about it-YES!

We were both excited about the “Elegant Ensemble” challenge.

Party dress?  Count us IN!

Looooove this next one! Another day was “Fancy Fingernails”

This was super fun!  Normally I go get manicures with just my mom, but I asked Maya if she wanted to come with us, and she did!  She was so serious when they were doing her nails.  And of course…she picked FOUR colors haha.

Blue and white on one hand…silver and gold on the other.  🙂

Maya on a rock…is her comfort zone…OMG.  This is hands down my new favorite picture of Maya!

SO HER!! And yet…this is also so her.

“I hate pictures!  Oh, but how about I nail this pose….”

😉

I swear these were ALL HER.

All I said was, “Can I get a picture of you standing on that rock?” Then…we got some together again as the sun was fully down.

These were to showcase our “Unique Updos”

I didn’t get a good picture of Maya’s (shown later in a phone pic in the “keeping it real” section!), but her’s was braided all along the back and then a braid bun.  She had been asking me to do her hair that way for a WHILE, so I finally tackled it.  She was VERY specific!

On me…

Belt- Vintage
On Maya…
Dress- Fleurisse “Samantha” (eBay for$3.50-retail $245!!!)
Shoes- Seychelles (thrifted, but similar here)
Keeping it Real…
I was a liiiiiittle nervous that I was putting too much time/thought into this shoot.  I kid you not, the more time and thought I put into shoots, the more likely it is to go to shit!
So…I made sure to leave with PLENTY of time to catch the sunset.  I picked a spot that usually isn’t very popular, but 10 min after we got there a family of SIX comes down.  Not only would they be in our shots I had set up, but of course Maya wanted to play with them!
We flipped it around and shot the other way… But, it’s a lot harder to focus when things are heavily backlit…
I messed up the focus on the first round of shots!
I DID NOT GIVE UP THOUGH!  hahaha.
And finally the family left after the sun had gone down.  And…we got the amazing shots on this rock!  But not before…
And…here’s the picture I actually took with my phone as I finished Maya’s hair.
SO glad I did!
And I’m only a little bummed I didn’t get a picture of it on the beach, but…whatever!  I got WAY
more than I expected to get!
(all pictures taken with a shutter release and tripod, except ones of Maya :))
