Dresses over Jeans + Clogs and Vintage Dresses + Dr Martens || Maya’s Pre K Graduation

So…Maya graduated Pre-K over 3 weeks ago, but summer has been a bit of a blur!  I finally had a break in work, so I’m hoping to catch up on all the fun pictures we’ve taken!

We took these when we got home from dinner. I’ve had this top (ok, technically it was sold as a dress, but…that never happened!) for SO long, and I still love it!   I think it’s such a fun alternative for those of us that might be past the point of a mini dress to pair it with a pair of skinny jeans!

I remember wearing it when I was pregnant with Maya! GAh, I looooooove capturing us looking at eachother! I keep saying “This is the last time…”

But….LOVE this next one! And this is how she takes posed pictures now haha. BUT….before all that fun, we walked to her school for the last time…

SNIFF SNIFF And she graduated!!!

Even more SNIFF SNIFF!!!!

Maya, we could not be more proud of the funny, smart, witty, amazing little girl you are becoming!!!  You brighten everyone’s day who has the pleasure of being around you, and we are SO lucky that you brighten ours daily!

We love you!!

Frayed Denim Pencil Skirts + Red Clogs | 4th of July 2017 take 2!

We had a little break between the morning activities I posted about on Friday.

Maya went over to my parent’s house to make a berry crisp with my mom, and then we stopped by a blog party on our way back home.  There was a LOT of chalk involved, and therefore…an outfit change was needed 🙂  I was just too hot in jeans and a long sleeve top, so…I changed too!

Again, we didn’t set off our usual fireworks this year, sadly.  We are thinking about going somewhere next year where we can freely blast things off, but are undecided… Kind of a bummer all around.

However, I’m always excited to wear red, white, and blue!  It’s such a classic combo, and the pop of a red shoe is always a fun idea!!

Maya off to the side doing who knows what…as per usual 🙂 Love the back of this top! Oh, and this skirt?  I thrifted it for $3.50 at Value Village when they had their pre 4th of July sale on Sunday (retailed for $88!)!  I wouldn’t normally pick a denim pencil skirt, but it caught my eye, and I’ve worn it twice since then-ha! 🙂 OMG, her face!!! Loooooooove! Charlie had been out walking Max and came up behind us to photo bomb.

LOVE this next one!  Even Max looks good!  Only missing the Huz inside… Loooooove this one!

4th of July 2017

Every year they do a West Seattle Parade, and it starts about 3 blocks awaw from us.  SUPER convenient, and fun for Maya.  Although, I’m not sure how many more years she’ll think it’s cool. The parade ends at a park/viewpoint, and they have vendor sites set up all over that have fun things for kids to do.   They had super fun burlap sack races, but Maya didn’t want to do it, and then quickly got bored.

So…we walked back home. Yup, this is the best family pic we got.  hahaha.

I let her have the sucker that they gave out, and it was all over after that. Meme (my mom) managed to get a little smile from her though! Back at home…sucker all gone. Tried to get one of just us…In all years past, we’ve lit fireworks in front of our house.  To be noted, they are illegal in Seattle.  BUT…we always went around and told our neighbors, and lots even came to watch!

Until last year.  We got a very upset neighbor that yelled at us, and it put a stop to our fun…

Oddly, I can’t find last year’s post? 😦  I know I took pictures, but… Might be due to grumpy dude…

Swing Tees + DIY Raw Hem Skinnies + Birkenstocks

Back when we first started this blog, I would take pictures of us almost every day.  Usually more every day casual playing shots.  I’d mix in date nights, and fun outfits, but usually I never had time for those, because I was always running late to get out the door haha.

I still can’t believe I used to blog every week day!

Anyways…here’s a total basic every day outfit.  With us just playing outside of our house.

As we do most summer evenings… 🙂 I loooooove the raw hem trend!!  So great for those of us with short legs!!

SUPER easy to do too!  I just measured off another pair of jeans that I have that had the perfect length hem, then cut!  I did the back a little longer for a fun alternative. hahaha.  I was trying to get Maya into the shot with me, and was showing her we could have fun and do a jumping shot.  I had already pressed the timer, but she wasn’t having it… Eventually, I coaxed her in!

AND…didn’t adjust the height enough, so I chopped off our heads ha!

On me…

Top- Patterson Kincaid (old, these are both fun here and here)
Jeans- Genetic Denim “The Stem” (old, similar uncut here, cut here, less expensive here)
Shoes- Birkenstock “Ghiza” (thrifted, similar color here)

These shots didn’t make the cut, because someone’s pants kept falling down…

Dr Martens with Dresses | Golden Hour at the Beach

I went to college in the early 90’s.  When grunge was at it’s peak.  Wearing Dr. Martens with dresses was what we wore on the daily.  Except back then, it was vintage dresses, and we wore them with socks!

As with most style trends, things always come back around…

I know I’m not the only one who’s coveted the Balenciaga Ceinture Cutout Boots!  What I thought was funny when I clicked on them (occasionally, I like to dream…), was that they are inspired by Dr. Martens!

I thrifted these fun cut out Dr. Martens a few years ago, and they’ve been a fun budget friendly option with a similar look.

And this dress?  I bought it off eBay without a slip for $12, but just wore a black tank dress underneath!  Never be afraid to buy an amazing see through dress on the cheap!  You can always find a slip!  My guess is that one of the dresses you already own has one you can use!

Two of my new FAVORITE images of us next… I loooooooove getting golden hour shots!!  Maya’s bedtime is around 9:00, so it’s kind of a stretch to get her out at this time.  BUT…the Huz was out of town, so I made an exception, and let her stay up a liiiiittle later 🙂 Dying over Maya’s pink ones too! Forever striking up a conversation with anyone who walks by.  Or in this case…paddled by in their kyaks.

“Hi!  What are you guys doing?!” her face… 😉 I LOVE that I got the details of her dress sleeve in this next one!

On me…

Dress- Ella Moss (eBay, similar here and here,)
Shoes- Dr. Martens (thrifted, similar here and here)
On Maya…
Dress- Vintage (thrifted, but similar here)
Leggings- Children’s Place (thrifted)

Kayakers…. “What are YOU doing?!”
Don’t mind me…
And this is why we were laughing.  She came LAUNCHING into my arms!
haha. Can I lie and say this was Maya?  or…me?!!

Tunic + Distressed Skinnies + Ankle Tie Wrap Sandals…date night!

I love our neighborhood!  We can easily walk to a number of really good restaurants, and last weekend, we did just that!

And…Since it’s staying lighter later, Maya and I came out to play and took a few pictures after dinner! I came out wearing just the top and asked the Huz if he thought it was ok to wear to our neighborhood restaurant. He paused and said. “Yeah…I think so. I mean…it’s a liiiiiittle short!” 😳 He thought I was ONLY going to wear the top! 😂 😂

Honestly, it was sold as a dress, but not for my monster torso. 😏
Maya being a dragon, as per usual… This…
