Vintage 80’s “Snazzy” Cardigan + Geometric Jumpsuit + Checkered Slip Ons…Mixing Prints!

Pictures originally taken 2/2/2021 (playing catch up!)

Day 2 of @TheMomEdit #TMEStyleCHallenge

“Mix Prints”

Whew…this one was kind of hard for me… I’m not much of a print person, unless it’s stripes or animal print, and honestly…I feel like those are just neutrals!
😻
I decided to stay in my comfort zone and just go with the same color family.
🖤🤍🖤🤍
AND…all the stars aligned and I convinced Maya to run out and take some pics during her school lunch break! I literally just threw a printed dress and leather jacket over what she was already wearing!
🖤❤️🤍
I guess there are a few perks to distance learning…
🥰
I’m honestly bummed that I’m not leaving the house and that nobody will see this! Well, except for here.

I can’t wait to see other creative print mixes! I definitely need help in this area!

Tomorrow is- “Channel Moira Rose”

I’m REALLY hoping to convince Maya into doing this one, because she has the most epic feather trimmed dress that just screams Moira! I’m more Alexis, but I’m going to give it my best shot.

I really didn’t think I’d like mixing prints, because it’s just not in my comfort zone, but I loved it.
🖤🤍
AND…it was so freaking comfy that I did wear it around the house too!
🙌🏻
I convinced Maya to shoot with me again today after school for day 3

Boho Dress + Denim Jacket + Birkenstocks

Pictures originally taken 8/15/2020 (playing catch up!)

Words written on Instagram on that day…

I have to admit…I’ve lost my love of photography the last few weeks.

🙈😩

I put out the announcement to my clients and friends that I wouldn’t be doing shoots this fall-my busiest months!! That decision was due to Covid and distance learning/no childcare, but it’s kind of taken the wind out of my sails…

And…I’ve taken on a lot of projects at our rental property, which is both mentally and physically exhausting.

My creative juices have been lacking…for here.

But, the fall/winter is upon us in the PNW and rain is coming. Sooooo, it made me nostalgic.

I do love me some #sunflare ✨💫

AND….this was for our 11th Anniversary!! Not that we went anywhere, but..

LOOOOOVE these next ones!!!!

I posted these separately on Instagram a few days later….this is what I wrote-

Vintage Camel Hair Coat + Chunky Knit + Levis Destroyed Mini + Frye Campus Boots (70’s inspired Fall Layering)

The Mom Edit had a month long style challenge during October.

Each week there was a theme.

I looooove style challenges!  Sadly, I don’t have time to partake usually.

One of these days, I’m going to make up my own!  When I have time…

In any case.  The Mom Edit’s style challenge for this particular week was “70’s Vibe”.  Just went to link their post, and realized I got featured-yay!  Not this outfit, but 2 other ones 🙂

As someone who was born in the 70’s, I thought…I GOT THIS!  I had SO many thoughts of outfits I wanted to put together!

And then…work.  Maya’s stuff.  RAIN.  WORK….

Anyways.  This is about it.

Vintage coat.  Possibly from the 70’s, but so timeless that it works in about EVERY era!

Cut off Levi’s Denim skirt!  Because.  CUT OFFS.  LEVI’S!  Denim Skirt…70’s!

Chunky cream knits.  Yes.

Vintage Frye Knee High Boots.  Quite possibly from the 70’s too! And no shame in my game.  People were walking by left and right this foggy morning… But in between….don’t mind me!

On me…

Coat- Vintage (thrifted, similar here and less expensive here)
Sweater- 360 Sweater (ebay, similar here)
Keeping it Real…
Yes, that’s a mailman behind me.  No, I’m not stopping if I hear the shutter click haha.
I’ll just photoshop him out! 😉
But…my neighbors that walk by all the time…yeah, that’s still awkward.

High Waisted Denim + Crop Tops + Clogs | 70’s Influence

It seems like people are always saying “The 70’s influence is coming back!”  Honestly, I don’t think it’s every left.  There are always 70’s influences that are in style.  It was a great decade for inspiration.  All the bohemian flowing looks…the wide leg denim…the amazing hats!!  I could go on and on.  Although, maybe it’s because I was born in the 70’s?  I don’t think so 🙂

I stumbled upon these jeans at the thrift store over the weekend.  They were in the girls section, but looked like they might fit, so for $5 I grabbed them.  I LOVE THEM!!!!  They are high waisted, and because they are meant for a 12 year old, the length is perfect!! haha.  Only slightly embarrased that these are meant for a middle schooler, but whatever!  Once again, my lesson in looking outside the box while thrifting was a big success!Blog Zara Tiered Crop Top Vintage Belt 7FAM Girls Slimmy Vintage Clogs-1 Blog Zara Tiered Crop Top Vintage Belt 7FAM Girls Slimmy Vintage Clogs-2 Blog Zara Tiered Crop Top Vintage Belt 7FAM Girls Slimmy Vintage Clogs-3 Blog Zara Tiered Crop Top Vintage Belt 7FAM Girls Slimmy Vintage Clogs-4 Blog Zara Tiered Crop Top Vintage Belt 7FAM Girls Slimmy Vintage Clogs-5 Maya found a humongous ant!  She named him Dan, and carried him around on our walk for about 20 minutes 🙂Blog Tea Collection Wrap Neck Mini Dress Navy Saltwater Sun San Sandals-1Blog Zara Tiered Crop Top Vintage Belt 7FAM Girls Slimmy Vintage Clogs-6 Blog Zara Tiered Crop Top Vintage Belt 7FAM Girls Slimmy Vintage Clogs-7 Blog Zara Tiered Crop Top Vintage Belt 7FAM Girls Slimmy Vintage Clogs-8 Blog Zara Tiered Crop Top Vintage Belt 7FAM Girls Slimmy Vintage Clogs-9 Blog Zara Tiered Crop Top Vintage Belt 7FAM Girls Slimmy Vintage Clogs-10 I attempted to have her set him free for a few minutes, but that didn’t last.Blog Zara Tiered Crop Top Vintage Belt 7FAM Girls Slimmy Vintage Clogs-11Blog Tea Collection Wrap Neck Mini Dress Navy Saltwater Sun San Sandals-2Blog Tea Collection Wrap Neck Mini Dress Navy Saltwater Sun San Sandals-3I was actually a little sad for Dan that we relocated him so far away.  Hopefully he’ll find his way back to his family if he had one…Blog Tea Collection Wrap Neck Mini Dress Navy Saltwater Sun San Sandals-4Blog Tea Collection Wrap Neck Mini Dress Navy Saltwater Sun San Sandals-5Blog Tea Collection Wrap Neck Mini Dress Navy Saltwater Sun San Sandals-6Blog Tea Collection Wrap Neck Mini Dress Navy Saltwater Sun San Sandals-7Blog Tea Collection Wrap Neck Mini Dress Navy Saltwater Sun San Sandals-8Rolling down the hill towards my Christmas tree shadow 🙂Blog Tea Collection Wrap Neck Mini Dress Navy Saltwater Sun San Sandals-9Blog Tea Collection Wrap Neck Mini Dress Navy Saltwater Sun San Sandals-10On me…

Prim and Proper + A little Edge…

I found this adorable vintage top at a thrift store a few weeks ago.  I LOVE all the embroidered details, but the puffed sleeves have kind of kept me from wearing it.  It looks a little too prim and proper for me.  NOT there’s anything wrong with that, but I’m not really girly or frilly.  So…I paired it with pair of destroyed skinny jeans (found them a the same thrift store-Value Village-had a 30% of coupon that was expiring), and some studded gold boat shoes.  I think it balanced it out!  What do you think?  Blog Vintage Blouse Edyson Destroyed Skinny BEandD Gold Studded Boat Shoes-1 Blog Vintage Blouse Edyson Destroyed Skinny BEandD Gold Studded Boat Shoes-2 Blog Vintage Blouse Edyson Destroyed Skinny BEandD Gold Studded Boat Shoes-3 Blog Vintage Blouse Edyson Destroyed Skinny BEandD Gold Studded Boat Shoes-4 Blog Vintage Blouse Edyson Destroyed Skinny BEandD Gold Studded Boat Shoes-5 Blog Vintage Blouse Edyson Destroyed Skinny BEandD Gold Studded Boat Shoes-6Maya’s new thing is to say “Mommy, kiss?!”  And then she attacks me with LICKS!   Like…won’t stop.  It’s kinda funny at first, and then….kinda gross! Vintage dressing…

When I was in my 20’s, I’d say about half of my wardrobe was vintage.  I would wear vintage 50’s dresses to work, and had more vintage cardigans and coats than anyone in their right mind should have.  Oh, and beautifully embroidered vintage blouses?  Yeah, I had my fair share of those too.  Over the year I got rid of most of the dresses and shirts, although I still wear most of my vintage coats.  This dress is actually a nightgown (I think?!), but it’s so easy to just throw on with flip flops and head out the door.  Plus…Maya said “Mommy, you’re a PRINCESS!” when I put it on, which is basically a win no matter what 🙂Blog Vintage Dress Sand Jewel tie Sandals-1 Blog Vintage Dress Sand Jewel tie Sandals-2Um…someone wasn’t so sure about looking at the camera haha.  Honestly, I’m always so surprised by how often she smiles at a camera on a tripod!  And, yes, she has rain boots on. Or, as Sesame Street calls them “Galoshes” Pretty much her favorite boots, and even thought it was mid 80’s, with no rain in site…she wanted to wear them.  And, obviously, I let her. 🙂Blog Vintage Dress Sand Jewel tie Sandals-3Maybe the tripod was giving her the stink eye HA! Mixing masculine with feminine…

Today was a bit of a rough day.  I had to take Maya to yet another urologist, and she’s gotten to the point now where the minute they call her name to go back she starts crying hysterically.  Not without good reason considering they had to do another catheter-ugh.  Needless to say, we were both in tears by the end of the visit…

Super Mom Tip:
I posted one of the pics of Maya and me on my facebook page and a friend commented on my hair.  I laughed, because it was my “I didn’t take a shower and was sick of my usual messy bun” look.  Pretty easy to do.  Just start twisting one side (fix with bobby pin).  Twist other side, then gather both into a ponytail.  Then wrap into a bun.  Turns curly out of control bedhead into something a little put together 🙂dit-elle-Lauren
