Knit Poncho + DIY Distressed Hem Crops + Converse (Sunset on the Beach)

Even when we have warmer spring days, the evenings on the beach can still be pretty chilly.

I took these over almost 2 months ago, but even now, we layer up in the evening.  BUT…not for long!!  We’ve bit inching into the high 70’s during the day, and I cannot wait for warm summer evenings!

I love the ease and comfort of a poncho!  Totally takes me back to my high school days when the Mexican blanket poncho was all the rage!

Now…I’ll do a fun knit instead 🙂 These are one of my FAVORITE pairs that I’ve chopped (and that’s saying a lot considering I’ve gone a little crazy chopping haha)

I played around with the hem instead of just doing a straight chop.  I love how they turned out!  Love… BUT…love these even more! Dancing on a rock…as she does…. And these kids flares?!!!

DYING! Yes….this is why we suffer through the 9 months of cold and rain….

Breaking out the White Denim for Spring!

So…spring has been late in coming to Seattle, but we’ve had a few sunny days (or at times hours) here and there, and it’s just about the only thing getting me through this never ending winter!!

One of the first thing I get excited to wear is white denim!  I have a bit of an obsession with white jeans, and have dedicated many a post to them haha.

I recently scored these off eBay (like new for $2.26-SAY WHAT?!!), and I love them! We ran right past the focus point on this one…boo hoo!!  I still like it even though it’s out of focus though.  Maybe more so because of it?  I couldn’t decide if this was an outtake or not! LOOOOOOOOVE her!  And the light this day was sooooo good!
Anyone remember Goffrey?? 🙂 I want to eat her up!!

Comfy Sweatshirt + Destroyed Boyfriend Jeans + Chucks

Ok…I debated erasing the first two paragraphs of this blog post, since I originally wrote it in…SEPTEMBER!!!  But, whatever.  I normally can’t think of things to say, so…I’ll just leave it as is, and we can pretend this is a transition to spring post haha.

Same thing…

Fall is definitely in the air here in Seattle!  Normally, September is still pretty sunny and nice, but when we got 80 degree days in May, all the rules have been off since.

Not going to lie.  I LOVE the in between the season days.  You get to break out clothing you haven’t worn in a while, but you get to go back and forth over the next few weeks.  This weekend, we are supposed to be in the 70’s again, so we still have a little bit of summer left to enjoy!

Until then…one of my favorite fall staples is a basic gray sweatshirt!  Paired with a pair of comfy boyfriend jeans, and Converse, and you basically feel like you’re wearing a pair of pajamas all day-WIN!blog-james-perse-sweatshirt-current-elliott-boyfriend-super-loved-jeans-converse-1 blog-james-perse-sweatshirt-current-elliott-boyfriend-super-loved-jeans-converse-2 Her face!  I can’t even…blog-james-perse-sweatshirt-current-elliott-boyfriend-super-loved-jeans-converse-3 And again…HER FACE!!!

Funny thing…I got asked if I was going somewhere special as I was leaving the gym.

Comfy Everyday Play…

I’ve posted a few holiday looks recently, but let’s be real, those aren’t the day to day!  Most of you know our day to day, but as a refresher-this is it.  Me=hair in a bun, my parka, a sweater, jeans, and Converse.  And with the COLD and WIND that we’ve been having, along with the torrential downpours, we haven’t been playing outside for more than 20-30 minutes at a time.  Which means usually running around our neighborhood when we have a break in the weather.

Otherwise, we are inside in at camps or at the gym.Blog HM Parka Zara 7FAM Converse-1 Blog HM Parka Zara 7FAM Converse-2 Blog HM Parka Zara 7FAM Converse-3 Blog HM Parka Zara 7FAM Converse-4 Blog Weatherproof Gap Hudson Kids Boyfriend Jeans Converse-1 Blog Weatherproof Gap Hudson Kids Boyfriend Jeans Converse-2Maya most days wears a dress, but every once in a while I can talk her into jeans 🙂  I scored these adorable Hudson Jeans for $2 back when my favorite thrift store had 75% off all denim for Black Friday.  They are so soft and comfy that she’s actually let me put them on her a couple of times since-SCORE! White + Black & a pop of Red

I’ve mentioned before my love of white jeans.  They really aren’t practical when you have a toddler, but I can’t help myself.  They make me think of summer, which is a nice thing to think about right now 🙂Blog Genetic Denim JCrew Apron Top Zara Sweater Superga Studded Shoes-1 Blog Genetic Denim JCrew Apron Top Zara Sweater Superga Studded Shoes-2 Blog Genetic Denim JCrew Apron Top Zara Sweater Superga Studded Shoes-3Can I just say how much I love these shoes??  I got them off eBay for a steal, and wasn’t sure how cool they really would be until I got them.  LOVE THEM!!

Pretty sure my neighbors thought I was even more crazy that usual while I was trying to get this shot.  Balancing the camera on the ground, while kneeling on a towel to focus/get the exposure (had to protect the jeans!!)  As a photographer, I always have these shots in mind, and I love trying to figure out how to do them myself 🙂 Blog Genetic Denim JCrew Apron Top Zara Sweater Superga Studded Shoes-4 Blog Genetic Denim JCrew Apron Top Zara Sweater Superga Studded Shoes-5 Blog Genetic Denim JCrew Apron Top Zara Sweater Superga Studded Shoes-6 Blog Genetic Denim JCrew Apron Top Zara Sweater Superga Studded Shoes-7AND THEN….Maya went traipsing through the mole hills that have attacked our neighborhood.  She looks quite pleased with herself, doesn’t she?   There went my nice clean white jeans…but hey, that’s what stain remover is for!Blog Genetic Denim JCrew Apron Top Zara Sweater Superga Studded Shoes-8 Blog Genetic Denim JCrew Apron Top Zara Sweater Superga Studded Shoes-9 Blog Genetic Denim JCrew Apron Top Zara Sweater Superga Studded Shoes-10On me…

Little Boogaweezin SS ’14 Style Ambassador Search + a TON of personal ramblings… :}

I’ve never been much of a New Year’s Resolution kind of person.  The last time I did one though, was 6 years ago when I said that my one effort in “dating” {UGH!!} was going to be that I would accept the offer from anyone that wanted to set me up.  Up until that point, I’d always just said “Oh….uh, well, um, that’s nice”  Yet quickly changed the subject and NEVER.SPOKE.OF.IT.AGAIN.  I kid you not.  Two weeks later I was set up with the Huz.  SO, maybe I should do them more often, no?

THIS year, I said I was going to make a conscious effort to step out of my comfort zone more.  I mean, I’m turning 40, why NOT??!!  Just doing this blog is TOTALLY stepping outside of my comfort zone (thank you Esther for kicking my arse into doing it!).  Granted, I have only shared it with a few of my closest friends hahaha, but whatever.

So, fast forward to me REALLY stepping out of my comfort zone.  Little Boogaweezin is an online store/blog that caters to fashionable moms and babes (uh, LOVE that!!).  I originally stumbled upon their blog and found the “Revamped Mom Uniform”.  I poured through all of them, visited the mommy blogs, and was hooked.  Then I looked at their store.  ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!  They have this perfect vintage look to them, and then you stop to read what’s written on them….SO COOL!

Seriously, does this not almost bring tears to your eyes (ok, maybe only if you’re a mom haha)

Dear Big MeIf you can’t read it, it says “dear big me, i can’t wait to see who I become one day-the little me”

GAH!!!!

I’m following them on Instagram, and they announce that they are looking for a mother and daughter Style Ambassador for their Spring/Summer ’14 line.  NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS would I enter anything like that….before.  Then it hits me.  I LOVE the “Revamped Mom Uniform”.  One of the big reasons I wanted to do this blog was to show that a 40 year old, work from home mom could get out of her sweats and look decent.  So, I would kick myself if I didn’t at least enter!  At this point, I don’t even care if we get chosen (ok, bit of a white lie :}), I’m just so glad I actually did it.  This is what we submitted…StyleAmbassadorIt was relatively easy doing this first little collage (don’t kid yourself I had a few glasses of wine before I hit “ok” on the posting!)  Then a few days went by and I thought.  Holy &$%.  On the off chance we get chosen, could I style their pieces, and more importantly photograph them NOT on the sidewalk in front of our house/in the alleys blocks from our house??  I didn’t want to be a complete a-hole that just enters random drawings willy nilly in the hopes of getting free stuff-BARF!!  I knew I had to buy something.  I was looking and loving EVERYTHING I was seeing, and then because I’m me (!!!) I checked out the sale button and found the PERFECT TANK!!!!  Sadly, it’s sold out now, but maaaaaybe it will be back and in different styles???Little Boogaweezin TankA)  It’s almost our logo!!!!  B) My dad has called me Beez for I don’t even know how long.  Like, doesn’t call me Lauren….ever?  Maybe he’ll comment and tell me 🙂  That morphed into LMB when I had Maya “Little Mama Beez”, so this was just about perfect.  All they had left was a XS, but I bought it immediately thinking I could either squeeze myself into it or have it be a tunic for Maya.  Happy to say it fit me!  Yay for having no boobies!!  And…that leads us to the actual blog post.  PHEW! 🙂  We took the tripod on a little field trip.  It was a MIRACLE that it wasn’t raining sideways, but…there were 20mph winds.  Can we just pretend I hired a wind machine?? 🙂Blog Doma Leather Jacket Little Boogaweezin J Brand Coach Slip ons-1 Blog Doma Leather Jacket Little Boogaweezin J Brand Coach Slip ons-2 Blog Doma Leather Jacket Little Boogaweezin J Brand Coach Slip ons-3 Blog Doma Leather Jacket Little Boogaweezin J Brand Coach Slip ons-4 Blog Doma Leather Jacket Little Boogaweezin J Brand Coach Slip ons-5 Blog Doma Leather Jacket Little Boogaweezin J Brand Coach Slip ons-6 Blog Doma Leather Jacket Little Boogaweezin J Brand Coach Slip ons-7There was no looking at me with all the puddles we found… Blog Doma Leather Jacket Little Boogaweezin J Brand Coach Slip ons-8 Blog Doma Leather Jacket Little Boogaweezin J Brand Coach Slip ons-9Seriously love this next one.  PUDDLE!!! It’s ok if our shoes kinda match, right?

I am such a sucker for Converse.  I snap them up every time I see them at a thrift store, and I may have screeched when I saw these silver glitter ones for Maya.  And $4?!!  How could I not???  A little scrubbing on the rubber part, and they look almost new!  Mine are also thrifted.  I think for $10?  Not as good as $4, but I still love them 🙂

Getting back to the reason I wanted to do this blog…

So, we’ve been blogging for 3 months-wow!  I cannot believe how much fun I’m having and much I look forward to it.  It’s both a time for me and Maya to play dress up, and a time for us to play together.  That said, I’ve haven’t been blogging pics of me and Maya together, which is one if the reasons I (personally) wanted to start this blog.  I always wanted to appeal to moms with their kids.  To show that you can run around and play with your children and still look stylish.  Obviously, I’m excited when people are following us that don’t have kids!  Some of whom are 15+ years younger than I am (crazy!), but I want to stay true to what I am.  An almost 40 yr old (ugh!) mom that loves to hang out with her child and also loves fashion.  Plus, it just hit me that Maya won’t really remember any of this, so these pictures are important!

To us that is 🙂

These were one of the first pairs of 7 for All Mankind jeans that I bought.  I think they are 11 years old!  They just keep getting softer, and I think they are almost 25% patched up haha.  I even wore these throughout my pregnancy!!  Probably not the most flattering jeans I own right now, but I don’t care.  Paired with a cashmere sweater and wrap-doesn’t get much more comfortable that this 🙂Blog Orange Stylemint Sweater 7FAM Converse-1 Blog Orange Stylemint Sweater 7FAM Converse-2 Blog Orange Stylemint Sweater 7FAM Converse-3 Blog Orange Stylemint Sweater 7FAM Converse-4Oh, you missed these boots?  haha 🙂 Blog Orange Stylemint Sweater 7FAM Converse-5 Blog Orange Stylemint Sweater 7FAM Converse-6 Blog Orange Stylemint Sweater 7FAM Converse-7On me…
