Is there anything better than an oversized chunky knit cardigan in the winter? 🤗
Well, yes, when it’s handknit by your dad!  He actually made this sweater for himself, and when he didn’t want it anymore, I stole it out of his donation pile haha.   Yet another reason I love having my parents living only a few blocks away!

This outfit errs more on the side of comfy…but I’ll try and work on another post that’s a little more “chic”.

I recently scored these Frye Boots for $14 at a thrift store.  I could NOT believe my luck!!!  I had scored Maya’s a few years ago for $20, and anxiously awaited for them to fit!

Proooooobably wasn’t the best shoe choice for playing on the beach at sunset last week, but…that’s one of my favorite things about thrifting.
Wear it, ENJOY it, play in it, have no guilt over it.

Thankfully, a wet wipe to both as soon as we got back in the car and they were all good. ☺️
GAH!!!  That sunset!!! Maya found a few crabs, but they had burrowed deep by the time I got over there. One of my favorite things to capture with my clients is silhouettes at sunset.  I love trying to make the image “them” even though you can’t see their faces.

Sadly, as it got darker I couldn’t find my remote on the rocks!  SO…I had Maya push the shutter for me as I jumped and I pushed the shutter for her, and then I merged them together in Photoshop.

These totally crack me up!!
I LOVE these, but sooooo wish I’d been able to capture some of us just dancing.  When I couldn’t find the remote, I just set up my phone to take this video and I LOVE IT!!!  I guess I’ll just have to try again 😉

Maya didn’t quite understand when to push the shutter.  She’d hit the shutter after I jumped,
and then she kept laughing uncontrollably, so I
literally had to jump like 10 times!  My 44 year old legs cannot do that anymore haha.  I really
thought I might pull a muscle, but…thankfully I didn’t. Ok, I had a few fails too 🙂
But laughs were had by all!

All Black with a Pop of Color | Day

 It’s week 2 for @theMomEdit style challenge.

This week (1/16-1/23) is style “All Black with a Pop of Color”

Basically this is a no brainer for me!  I LOOOOOVE all black, but do like to break it up with a pop of color.  Or…just break it up by the texture and variance of black.

All blacks are different, so I feel like if you purposely wear ones that are off, it works better. And…a silver platform sneaker…both comfy yet adds some fun!

I DIY cut the hem on these jeans, and they are one of my favs! I actually took the above pictures right before picking Maya up from school.  I actually shot this look and then swapped out my shoes and jacket for a “day to night” look (coming soon).  I did all that in a whopping 15 minutes haha.

Then….after letting Maya play after school for an hour, I convinced her to come back to the same spot for a few shots.  Ok, ipad time may have been promised… 🙂

And, yes, she rocks the “all black with a pop of color” better than me! I can’t even…. SO her!

This amazing walkway is RIGHT next to a super busy street in our neighborhood.  The good news is-it’s beautiful and 5 minutes from our house and Maya’s school.  The bad news….872 cars drove by during our whopping 15 minutes here haha.
Maya kept wanting me to shout “doody” haha.

Not even sure what’s going on here haha. She never has her hair all down, but the clip she’d worn to school was half out.  I took it out and was going to put it back in, but then…didn’t want to mess with it without a brush.  But, during all her dancing she kept getting hairs in her mouth 🙂

“Layer a Cami Over Something Warmer” The Mom Edit Style Challenge Week 1

Sometimes fashion is just about experimenting and having FUN!

Which means… @TheMomEdit is having another style challenge! 🤗

I loooove a good style challenge, but rarely have time to participate anymore. This challenge is a weekly challenge though, so I’m determined to try and come up with one original interpretation each week. 🤞🏻

Week 1: Layer A Cami Over Something Warmer.  This one went from Wednesday 1/9-1/16.

I thought about just laying a cami over a long sleeve tee, but wanted to try and get a little more creative. I miss having the time to be creative with my outfits. I would normally never wear a button down under a cami, but it was fun! Oh, and these jeans??  They are hands down my new FAVORITES!!  The perfect amount of stretch, and the wash is vintage perfection!  They came 2 inches longer, but since it was already a raw hem, I just chopped them to my desired length.  They will just get better with washing! I added a vintage belt for a little fun.

Who wants to join me on the challenge?! There are a total of 5 weeks, and you can join in whenever you have time! C’mon!!! 🎉

Week 2: Wear A Pop Of Color With All Black (I can’t wait to do this one, and I think Maya’s going to do it with me!) . Goes from 1/16-1/23.

I took off the cami, swapped out the belt, and put different shoes on for a completely different yet more traditional look coming soon!

I’ve talked about my process a few times, but…here’s the test shot I always take of my focus
stand.   Once I lock in the focus, I just jump into this spot and snap away!
I showed a video of how I set up these shots  here, and also showed that…yes, of course it was garbage and yard waste day!   So…not just one, but TWO trucks stopped by a few yards away from me as I was taking these.  This next shot was taken after one of them waved at me! 😂🙈

The last fashion post from our recent trip to Los Cabos…

I’m still hoping to do a recap of both places we stayed, the things we did, and recommendations from BOTH our trips from last year, but…that might be a while 🙂

For now, quick and easy fashion thoughts!

A white button down is a staple packing piece for me.  It’s so versatile!

Dress it up, dress it down. Wear tied as a knot, tucked or untucked. It could even be worn as a cover up!
And these high waisted dark denim shorts were super versatile too!  They can be somewhat dressed up, or totally casual with tank and flip flops! I honestly don’t know who I had more fun packing for though…me or Maya. I’d totally wear her outfit too! 💜 Pose…art directed by Maya 🙂 Loooooove this next one!!

I had all these great intentions of blogging on our Mexico pics while we were on Christmas Break, but then reality and a never ending cold (I was seriously sick for the entire 2 1/2 weeks!!) kicked my ass, and…well.

I blogged nothing.

So, I’m catching up now, and hope to eventually also catch up on the pics I took from our LAST vacation to Los Cabos back during Spring Break 2018.  Maybe for this next Spring Break??  Haha.

All in all, I’d love to do a write up of both places we stayed and what we did…eventually.

Until then.

A fairly simple comfy outfit.  High wasited crops are my go to right now.  So easy and comfy.  These had a built in hem that was too short for my legs, so I let it out, and I LOVE THEM!  Funny enough, the brand has an almost identical pair to these with the hems let out.  Great minds and all…

And, while I like to tuck things into high waisted pants, it’s so much easier and more flattering to tie tops right at the waist!

No lumps!  No fussing with retucking when you go potty-haha, yes, I went there!

Thrifted Off the Shoulder Ruffle Dress for Cocktail Hour

 I found this dress a week or so before we left for Mexico, and I KNEW it would be perfect to bring!  I thought it was vintage at first, but I don’t believe it is now… It definitely has that look though, which I love!

A few days into our trip the hotel had a cocktail hour for the guests.  I loved the fact that all these people were wearing fancy expensive outfits, and here I was in my $5 thrifted dress. 🙂

The twirl factor, the off the shoulder goodness, and…the tassle tie!!

LOVE! Maya’s entire outfit is thrifted too, but that’s per usual… Gah, love this little nugget! On me…

It’s been a while since I showed how we take the pictures.  Yes, I brought my focusing stand and tripod along with me!

 The downside of taking pictures at a resort?  There are constantly people walking or driving by
and wondering what the heck I’m doing haha.

Horseback Riding at Solaz Los Cabos

I have to be honest.  I did this excursion as a gift to Maya.
She looooooves horses.  As, I did at her age and beyond!!
Every trip we went on as a kid, I requested horseback riding as my pick for something to do!
  She’s definitely following in my footsteps.
But…we’d seen the horses walk along the beach while we’d played in the pool, and in my mind I
thought “ho hum…”…yawn.
For the price… I thought that I would walk alongside her as she rode, but changed my mind last
minute to buy a spot for myself, and…
It was probably the highlight of the trip for both of us!
I talked the Huz into coming down to take a few pictures of us as we left. I honestly was a liiiiiittle worried that they just let Maya be on her horse by herself. She wasn’t worried at all, and quickly caught up to us! Oh, and doing it at sunset was the BEST idea!!
A), yes, I was thinking about the light…I can’t stop myself.
But also, we had other things planned during the day, so win win.
B) It’s HOT!  No way could I have done this for an hour in the blazing heat…nor wanted to.
  Much less PAID to do it, but maybe that’s just me!
For others, if you do it during the day…sunscreen up!!

The sunset was amazing!! And at the halfway mark our guide asked if we wanted to stop and take pictures with my phone…

COULD I HAVE LOVED HIM MORE??!!
He actually took a few from a different angle and then said…I think this is better.
AGAIN….are you kidding me??
LOVE YOU!  Because…it was!
I can’t….love this! On the way back…
We went out for 30 minutes, the stopped.  He took some pictures of us (above and some not
shown), and then we headed back.
On the way back we got more adventurous with the trotting…which we did a lot of.  Even
galloped a bit.  I’m not going to lie.  I was a little worried about Maya, but she took it all in stride
(no pun intended!) . This is absolutely one of those trips that I would have paid to get a video
taken!  I took a few videos with my phone as I felt comfortable, but watching Maya and dealing
with my own horse took precedence. She ROCKED IT!  Every time we trotted and even galloped, she was amazing!  And SO HAPPY!
We made it back to our starting point in half the time it took us to meander out!
Our guide said…”We still have time, we can keep going?”
This face says it all!
The next one is one of my FAVORITE images of her!!!
Windswept.  SO happy, yet being tolerant of me snapping a shot.
SO HER.
And at the end… our guide asked.
“Want me to take some pics with the sunset?”
I may have said…
“YES!! I LOVE YOU!!!!”
I’d thought it before, but may have let it slip out at this point haha.
Clearly….Maya felt the same way. 🙂

Jumpsuits for resort vacations…

I’d be lying if I said I didn’t wish we were still in Mexico…

Reality is SO overrated!  And it’s currently raining SIDEWAYS in Seattle, so really overrated…
😂🙈
BUT…celebrating Christmas with our parents was what it was all about! Next year…if we can just get them to come to Mexico with us!

I know I should be posting cozy winter outfits, but…nope. I’m going to post pics we took on our vacation for a little bit longer.

For me, rompers and jumpsuits are a no brainer when packing. An easy all in one outfit! I added a vintage thrifter belt and thrifted sunglasses, because I’m too paranoid to lose my prescription ones!! I always load up on cute thrifted sunglasses before any vacation and summer! Saltwater sandals are hands down the best to bring on a beach vacation!  Waterproof and cute too! I can’t even… The only bad thing about taking this vacation at the end of my ridiculously crazy season at work, was that I really didn’t want to pick up my camera as much.  It sat untouched for the first 4 days… I was happy to not pick it up, but then knew I’d regret not taking pics!

The other bad thing about the timing of our vacation was that the sun set at around 5:00.  We were barely back from playing by 4, and to turn around and go back out to catch the sunset…it didn’t happen.

I kept telling myself I’d get up and take some sunrise pictures, because that was around 6:45 and they were AMAZING!!!  But alas…nope, that didn’t happen either.

SO…one shoot on the beach at midday was all I got.

Not the most idea lighting, but….LOVE!
And yes, Maya got to ride this horse later!!  I’ll post more about that later!  Definitely the surprise highlight of the trip for both of us!

cannot BE the focus stand.  Which is why I lug it around… In between moment of the shutter going off.  Always cracks me up…

Tank + High Waisted striped Palozzo Pants + Tied Sandals

 On of my fav combos for any weather.

Tight top + wide leg pants.

It can be varied in so many ways!  In warmer weather add sandals, in colder weather…booties and a jacket.

On vacation, it’s so easy to pack a bunch of tanks and loose fitting pants!

And…that’s what I did!I hadn’t taken pictures for the first 4 days of our vacation.  I was so OVER my camera with my workload leading up to our vacation that I needed a break.  But…I knew I’d regret not taking pictures, so I busted out the tripod outside of our room.

We didn’t take these pictures until after the sun had set…

The light was dreamy though! Not going to be able to do this much longer!!

Adding Edge to a Preppy Look…

My mood totally changes with how I want to dress…boho, edgy, rock, grunge…

The one look I’m not that comfortable in is preppy. I feel totally out of place. 🙈 BUT…add a studded belt, and some funky cut out platforms, and I feel ok. 🤣

This might also be in the running for Thanksgiving! And…both of our entire outfits are thrifted or from Ebay 🙌🏻🤑

Also, to keep this post extra disjointed and random 😂 I’m super thankful for a week off with this sweet nugget. ❤️❤️❤️ I may be having to squeeze work in here and there, but getting to hang with her all day is pretty awesome.

A glimpse into the future tween and teen years… BUT THEN… My same goofy girl that just wants to run in for a hug! and I want to eat her up.So….I took a picture of Maya and then my camera went wonky.  It would take a picture, but wouldn’t show me what it took.

Now…I have a very nice camera (not bragging, it’s my job, and it was a gift from my parents), so when it goes wonky and won’t take pics, I freak out!

But…in my test shots, it took this.  I didn’t have it on manual, so…weird.

YET…I LOVE IT!

And, love it even more, because my camera is back to normal!!  NO idea if I inadvertently hit a button but…PHEW!
