Chunky Hand Knit Cardigans with Thrifted Frye Boots on the Beach…

Is there anything better than an oversized chunky knit cardigan in the winter? 🤗
Well, yes, when it’s handknit by your dad!  He actually made this sweater for himself, and when he didn’t want it anymore, I stole it out of his donation pile haha.   Yet another reason I love having my parents living only a few blocks away!
❤️❤️❤️

It’s week 3 for @theMomEdit  style challenge., and the theme is “Oversized Chic”

This outfit errs more on the side of comfy…but I’ll try and work on another post that’s a little more “chic”.
🤷🏼‍♀️💃
Until then…some of my new favorite pics of us playing on the beach!
I recently scored these Frye Boots for $14 at a thrift store.  I could NOT believe my luck!!!  I had scored Maya’s a few years ago for $20, and anxiously awaited for them to fit!

Proooooobably wasn’t the best shoe choice for playing on the beach at sunset last week, but…that’s one of my favorite things about thrifting.
Wear it, ENJOY it, play in it, have no guilt over it.

Thankfully, a wet wipe to both as soon as we got back in the car and they were all good. ☺️
GAH!!!  That sunset!!! Maya found a few crabs, but they had burrowed deep by the time I got over there. One of my favorite things to capture with my clients is silhouettes at sunset.  I love trying to make the image “them” even though you can’t see their faces.

Sadly, as it got darker I couldn’t find my remote on the rocks!  SO…I had Maya push the shutter for me as I jumped and I pushed the shutter for her, and then I merged them together in Photoshop.

These totally crack me up!!
I LOVE these, but sooooo wish I’d been able to capture some of us just dancing.  When I couldn’t find the remote, I just set up my phone to take this video and I LOVE IT!!!  I guess I’ll just have to try again 😉

If you are following along on the weekly @theMomEdit  style challenge. you can see

THIS IS SO WHAT I’VE BEEN WANTING TO DO!!!  So excited!

Keeping it Real…
I was having some remote technical issues.  Maya’s face though.  Worried, yet, um…
The set up for us dancing… The set up for our jumping shot 🙂
Maya didn’t quite understand when to push the shutter.  She’d hit the shutter after I jumped,
and then she kept laughing uncontrollably, so I
literally had to jump like 10 times!  My 44 year old legs cannot do that anymore haha.  I really
thought I might pull a muscle, but…thankfully I didn’t. Ok, I had a few fails too 🙂
But laughs were had by all!
(all pictures taken with a shutter release and tripod, except ones of Maya :))

Chunky Knits + Overalls + Booties | Fashion at ANY age….

I was listening to a podcast the other day (ok, by this point it was a while ago…delayed posting and all that!), and it was an interview with a popular blogger.  In her interview she made a comment along the lines of “Nobody wants to see a 49 style blogger!” 😳

Not going to lie. It kind of pissed me off. 😠

I was SUPER uncomfortable, self conscious, and felt totally narcissistic posting images of myself when we first started this blog. Ok, I still am, but I’m getting over it.  You know why?  I am SO unbelievably thankful that I have all these images of me with Maya, but also…just the images of just me (😬🙊🙈 ) .

The bottom line is that I love fashion.  I am over apologizing for it.  I’ve loved fashion since I was Maya’s age! AND….I’m guessing I’l love fashion in 6 years when I turn 49!

Her comment actually made me want to do more fashion posts!

Now…I just need more time!! This cozy cardigan?  Handknit by my dad!  He made it from himself, and then it was in one of their “donation bags” that I intercepted haha.  SO GLAD-love it!! Her face!!  DYING! Ok, I’m dying NOW!  At the moment…well… My remote trigger had died, so taking these was with the self timer.  And, I kept running back and forth and looking down…

Seeing this face wasn’t EXACTLY what I wanted to see, but now that…a month and a half (!!) has gone by…I LOVE IT!

It’s SO her.  If it’s in any way posed…she’s NOT having it.  That is why post of our images are fun/action based!  A little harder when it’s a one shot deal with the self timer…I can’t believe I did ALL our images that way in the beginning!! Oh, but then….I wore her down!!!

As I do. And these next few are some of my FAVORITES of us!!

I’ve really been wanting to capture the golden hour more.  I just didn’t have the time to take pics of us in the fall, because I was so busy with client shoots.  The ONE bonus of the sun setting at 4:30, is that I can pictures of us in the golden hour in the afternoon!  haha. LOOOOOVE!! She was trying to capture bugs that were flying in the sunlight! And lastly….singing.  As she does.

On me…

Sweater- Handknit by my dad!
Overalls- Paige “Sierra” Overalls (eBay, similar here)
On Maya…
Vest- Zara (thrifted, but similar here)
Dress- J Khaki Kids (thrifted)

Boots- Pediped “Flex Issa”  (thrifted for $4.25!!)
Keeping it Real…
A DOG!!  MUST PET THE DOG!!
Which pretty much happened in between every shot, because we were on a path in a large park…
This is what the majority of our outings look like haha.  I try to squeeze in pics of us here and there in the break of dog walkers…
(all pictures taken with a self timer and tripod because my shutter release BROKE-WHA WHA!!), except ones of Maya :))
