Ok, I’ll admit. This outfit might seem a bit out there. I was rummaging through my closet looking for something, and came upon this jacket that I thrifted about 2 years ago for…$3.50!!!! I mean, what the what!?! WHY don’t I wear this more often? It’s not only fun, but it’s ridiculously warm. Almost too much so on this day. And, it just adds such a fun element to a fairly simple outfit. Oh, and I got a compliment on it from a pretty hip mom while we were playing, so…there’s that! 🙂
All that to say. I keep forgetting about this jacket/thinking it’s too dressy and out there for me to wear more often, but then…why not?!! Why don’t we wear things that make us feel fun more often? I’ll be honest. I felt too self conscious to wear it to pre-school pick up, but WHY??? I think I might get my nerve up to do it later…maybe. 🙂 Life’s too short not to wear things that we WANT to wear because we are afraid of what other’s might think!
Ok…AND these jeans are actually from my favorite denim maker DL1961. Their 4 way stretch is any mama’s dream. Ok, it’s anyone’s dream. I’m wearing them in almost half my posts! They were having a ridiculous sale (extra 25% off sale price!), so I thought I’d introduce the Huz to a pair. Then…realized that Maya was outgrowing the pairs that she has, so…I bought a new size up for her. THEN, I realized that I could save $10 in shipping if I bought something else (am I the only one that does this??). Um…SOOOOO I took a chance and bought a pair of size 16 girls jeans for a steal. I’ve bought a few kids jeans from thrift stores in the past, and LOVED THEM!!! In my experience size 14-16 usually equals a 26-27 in women’s sizes, yet they are a FRACTION of the cost. Oh, and they are usually a higher rise, and a lower inseam (my legs are ridiculously short for my frame!) All that is a win for me! And, for anyone who is a size 27 or below! ESPECIALLY for those that are petite! I feel like they have to get so frustrated, and can only hope that most have thought to shop in the girls section without being embarrassed!! I say shop wherever you can find things that fit and make you feel good!
And then, she was off…. 🙂
We’ve been so lucky getting blue sky breaks lately!!

On me…

Oh, hi neighbor walking your dog!! Don’t mind me and my tripod… ;}

Oh, and for those of you wondering…braids? On an over 40 year old mother? YES! Didn’t take a shower. Curly hair mess, suddenly tamed. DONE! So, there you go. I think we should all band together and make it the new “top knot” It takes more time, but…kinda makes you look younger, and, I mean…DUH! 🙂

Loooove this next one! Those clouds? HER SMOOCH??!
That little tongue as she throws the rock?? LOVE!!

On me…
Me chasing her down as she ran away laughing… If only I could set the camera up to change the focus point. Although, at this close of range, I’m happy for the fact that it’s unfocused 😉
On me…
I took these before I had discovered my shutter release and was trying to capture a walking shot with the self timer. It didn’t go as planned 😉
I had this thought that if I actually did my hair and Maya wasn’t with me, I might try and take a “head shot” for myself.

Randomly, I thought this looked better in black and white. Most of the prints in our home are black and white, so I’m drawn the them. In most cases for this blog, I like color, but I felt like I was actually doing a blog post for my work on this one, so I inserted a few black and white!
Me… “Hey, Maya, want to come be with me?”
Oh, and I had to include this image! The tiny little dot in the far left corner is Maya. In most cases, she is NO where near me to photograph, as an FYI. If there is a chance for her to run, she’s RUNNING!!
And then I get her back. 🙂 She was totally cracking herself up!
And then just try and tell a 4 year old NOT to run in the water when it’s 40 degrees… 😉
I can’t even…
And then….She had enough haha. 🙂
On me…

Btw…I realized later after I scored these booties on eBay for 90% off that these booties are weatherproof!!! Say, what? Accidental SCORE!!! They were perfect for the airport, because they easily slip on and off, and were actually quite comfortable!
Once she saw the neighbor boys out playing, so wasn’t cold at all haha.
Can you tell we took these after the sun went down? Notice the Christmas lights behind me…
I couldn’t let her run around in short sleeve dress though…
Admittedly, I usually buy more than I need when I’m thrifting. It’s so hard to say no to amazing prices on designer stuff!! But…every once in a while I leave something and then think “NO!!”
And these boots??? SO CUTE! And…$4.20!

Just imagine hearing, click, click, click, click, click haha.
I grabbed it from her and got these. Just know that of all these I’m posting, there are about 4 times as many more that I wanted to post!
Went back to the self timer to catch this one, because she asked to be thrown.
But, she took these next 5 🙂
These are from when we first came outside. Pretzel bribe in hand. You’d think SNOW would have been reason enough to go outside, but sadly no… 😉
Trying to catch some snow in her mouth, but getting drops on her forehead instead!
You can barely see the snowflakes, but I promise they looked bigger and more exciting in person 😉
On me…
Figuring out what it does… 🙂 Oh, and btw…I had done a shoot in the morning and hadn’t taken a shower yet. Disregard the no make up and frizzy unwashed hair. Thank you hat!! 🙂
And, after 22 seconds, I realized she needed to be cut off ha!
Oh, and this jacket? Random eBay add on purchase last year to get combined shipping for….$2.80!!!
If there is one thing I will never get over being appreciative of, it’s all these SMILES I’ve captured of the two of us in this blogging journey…
Yes, that’s a granola bar in her hand. Ya do whatcha gotta do. I managed to hide it in a few…and then not in a few 🙂
But really…if she’s happy, I’m happy.
I absolutely LOVE her jacket!! I scored it for $4!!! It’s in mint condition! Probably because whoever owned it before wore it for a nano second for a fancy occasion, and was too scared to ruin it. One of the many reasons I love thrifting. Yeck yeah, I’ll throw that adorably WARM wool coat on her for no good reason 😉
Dying over that smile. It’s a little kooky because she has a mouthful of granola bar, but still….love.
There are two trees that she loves to hide behind and then run to and from. It never gets old. For her or me 😉 So, yes. I’m feeling like I have these exact pictures in about 5 different posts, but whatever. That’s our life…
And I so wish I had these boots in my size. The little lace up the back?!!! $4, yet they retailed for around $100. Every once in a while I totally score on shoes for her. At the thrift store they were covered in mud and looked like they were on their last leg. For $4 I took a chance. All I did was wipe them off with a wet wash cloth, and I swear they look brand new! SCORE!

Loooooove this next one!!!
