I honestly wanted to take a pic outside of our house in the gorgeous light as just a close up of Maya and I to document the week we’d had…her sick off and on all week. The Huz gone all week… I’m thinking this at around 3:00 after we get home from school.

I asked her what she wanted, and she said she wanted to wear a fancy dress. As, she does lately! Ok… 😳🤔

SO…do I wear my hair in an unwashed bun while she’s in party dress? 😂😳 So I scramble to think of a “party” outfit. 😬Cropped fun leather pants? SURE! Why not? 🤷🏼‍♀️ Because…at this point, when will I ever where them? 😂 🤗

Oh…and try and do my hair really fast. Oh, and wait…the sun is setting!! 😩

It’s too dark at our house, because the sun has set, so we head down to the beach. We get there, and there are about a KAZILLION dogs. 🙄 Maya cannot be bothered with pictures if there are dogs around. 😑

So….here’s me. And Maya pouting in the background, because I wouldn’t let her follow a dog down the street…

Such a pretty night! Looooove these next ones! The Huz was out of town, but Facetimed us while were were out. This is her talking to him. SO SWEET! Then, we decided to go by one of the houses in our neighborhood that goes CRAZY with lights!

We drive by it every year, but this was the first year we got out and walked around. Maya was so impressed!

And…a little girl came up to her and asked if she was a princess! haha.

This sweet old man literally stood right next to us for like 5 minutes, until his wife, was like…

“Honey….come over here.” 🙂

I literally couldn’t have cared less. The sun was setting. I had my fancy pants on and my hair done. I’m taking pics at that point, no matter who’s watching-HA!

Leather Pants…perfect for the beach!

I’ve talked about my love of leather pants a few times. I’m continually impressed with how versatile they are, although that could be me making them versatile haha! I think I had hoped that was going to be the case, but I still wondered how comfortable I would be wearing them out and about. Truth be told, I can’t believe how comfortable I feel. They truly are the best “Mom pant”! Spills, goobers, mud, and sand wipe right off as if it never happened! Most come with lycra backing, so they are totally stretchy and comfortable-WIN.Normally the minute her feet hit the sand, she is off and running.

“Mommy, I’m just resting…” 🙂 And then she was off!DYING!!! Seriously, that belly…those moves!?! “Mommy, no pictures. Just hold my hand.”

And then I snapped one anyway 😉Nice MJ move, Maya!! 😉“A beautiful heart knows when it finds another beautiful heart.” The LB Brand nails it with the designs on their clothing!! Seriously, this shirt almost ties with the “Dear Big Me” shirt that melted my heart upon reading it a little over a year ago. I am soooo stoked that Maya will be doing a Revamped Kid Uniform feature for this amazing brand in a few months. It’s one of the first blogs I started following when we started this blog, and it’s one of the few blogs that I faithfully read every single time I get the email notification of a new post! The owner, Jen, has banded women together from all over the world in a way that is truly amazing. Not just by producing killer clothing, but by using and featuring real moms and their kids on her blog who share true Mama/Kiddo Style and real honest views on motherhood.I told her she had to put her hand up for the kite to fly hahahaha. All Black + Leather Pants and a Pop of Red…

Funny thing is…we weren’t going to have a fun outing this day. It was raining, Maya was sick, I hadn’t taken a shower. Then…the rain parted, Maya was on her lunch “high”, and I thought…well, why not?! What else are we going to do? The best part? This entire shoot lasted 10 minutes…and it’s one of my favs. We were going to keep running and playing, but Maya decided to run into the muddy stream and fell. She was still game to play, but I figured a wet muddy sick toddler needed to go home.

This is such an amazing little hidden park. You can pull up (I’m sure illegally) and park at the entrance. Maya can see me from her car seat. I can take pics. Then I grab her. Take a few with her, and then let her run wild. She loves it. I love it. It’s a WIN for us both! Oh, and it’s about 3 minutes from our house!

Before all the mud, while she was in the car finishing her snack…I took these really quick 😉Yes, I managed to wait a few weeks before photographing these leather pants again.

And yes, I wiped some mud off at the end of all this, and they are good as new-WIN!! And…she’s OFF and RUNNING down the path! Which she thinks is just about the funniest thing ever! And then…she went exploring in the mud and slipped. It’s the number one reason I like to thrift most of her clothes. I might have had a heart attack had I paid retail for any of this, but I didn’t. And…it all washed out anyways…

Bottom line, can you deny that joyous face??!! I’ll answer that with this one…NO!!! 😉 On me…

My search for the perfect black leather pants is OVER!

I’ve mentioned many times my search for the perfect leather pants. I think we all know there is NO WAY IN &%$$ that I’m forking over $900-$1500, so of course my search has been limited to eBay, thrift stores, and Nordstrom Rack.

I’ve settled for really cool coated jeans (these are my favorite thus far!!!). I’ve even tried faux leather, but nothing has fit just right.

Until now…

I talked about the perfect pair of marbled copper ones I scored over the holidays on eBay for $50 that I wore here. Yes, $50!!!! Granted nothing will compare to that deal…

Then…I came across a listing for one of my favorite denim brands on one of my favorite sellers site. The going price was $49 up until a few hours of them ending. I was hopeful!! And then, I got into “must.win.these.pants.” mode. I think all serious eBayers will know what I mean here. hahaha It really is sad how the adrenaline and competitiveness kicks in. But…it does. And I set an alarm in my calendar. :}

I know how perfectly this brand fits, and I read the reviews online of this particular pair-I wanted them! And then the countdown began. I may or may not have put off dinner “things are still cooking!!!” while I ran downstairs and hovered over my “confirm bid” to be able to hit it in the last 5 seconds, because my phone sometimes delays. Sad??? ABSOLUTELY!! But…I ended up getting these GORGEOUS leather pants that were regularly $995 for…$89!!! New with tags!! I’m not going to lie. My bid was A LOT higher than this, because I wanted them so bad!! When it ended, I had to do a double take. Then I practically skipped upstairs to make dinner!!! 🙂 Oh, and I’ve mentioned before that they are the perfect mom pants. Maya’s boots were so muddy, but a little wipe with a wet wipe, and my pants were good as new! Then there’s the fact that they suck you in (WIN!!!). She kept twirling on her own, and then getting dizzy. I totally remember doing that all the time as a kid…Then she kept getting into my purse. First for Tic Tacs, and then she found a protein bar. I told her she couldn’t have it, but for some reason she thought it was hilarious to balance it on her head 🙂 A lot of times the bright sun can be your worst enemy for pictures. And then…it’s your best friend. On me…

90% of the time we really do have as much fun as it looks like we are having. Then there’s the other 10%. When Maya is just full of sass, running away from me, not listening, etc. I walked to the car at the end of this adventure SO ready to put her down for a nap. On the way home, she was all slumped over in her car seat, and I asked

“Were you being difficult because you were tired?”

One word. “Yes.”

And then I laughed. And she laughed, and all the crankiness was forgotten.

Chunky Hand Knits + Leather Pants

I went over to my parents house a while ago and saw this sweater in a bag that was supposed to be “donated”. Except…I recognized it as a sweater that my dad had knitted himself, so I grabbed it! I mean, I couldn’t let a gorgeous hand knitted by my father sweater go!! It was a little big for the Huz, but oversized comfy knits are the best, so I stole it for my own! 🙂 And honestly, I’ve been wearing it almost every night around the house ever since…And…I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect leather pants for over a year now. I’ve bought a bunch and then either returned or sold them, but this holiday season…I SCORED! It pays to shop on eBay when everyone else is rightly so focused on shopping for others (whoops!!) ;} This particular pair, I snagged for $50!!! Yes, leather pants…$50!!! The bonus of it all? I had just sold a bunch of stuff, so they were free with my Paypal credit-woo hoo!

The next two pairs I bought…not so much, but, whatever 😉 I have a stack of things I’m going to sell, so it will all even out.

These were even better in person. The marbled copper and black? They will go with everything! Be prepared to see these a lot in the future (apologies in advance :))Yes, I’m a little embarrassed about my frizzy non showered hair. I mean, the messy no shower top not is not a rarity on this blog, but it was especially out of control on this day. I didn’t really realize it until I was going through the pics. Oh well-sorry! :{ This totally reminds me of the Scarecrow in the Wizard of Oz for some reason, except obviously she’s not crossing her arms. Her sweater is a little too big, so her left hand is lost… 😉“Mommy, kiss my nose!” She’s been obsessed with me kissing her nose at nap time and at bed time lately… And then she was like “Mommy, I want to stand on that rock!” Um… Yeah, I tried to dissuade her, but no go. And really, what’s the worst that could have happened? She fell in 6 inches deep of water? Not worth the fight… And the joy??? SO WORTH IT!! 🙂 On me…

Words cannot describe how nice it’s been to have TWO consecutive weekends off!! I have a couple of shoots in January, but I’m soooo glad to be out of the 3-4 shoots a week holiday season. Not that I don’t love my clients and feel incredibly thankful to be able to do what I do!!. I’m incredibly lucky!! But…truth be told, I just want to enjoy this little nugget and not be so stressed out 😉 That sure is nice…

Oh, and I almost had a runner!! Scared the crap out of me!

Weekend getaway-Date Night | Suede Pants :)!

So, weekend getaways mean a lot of things. Relaxation (i.e.-no cooking, no cleaning, no WORKING!!). They also usually mean-date nights! I get to wear things I’ve been saving for a special occasion. This time? SUEDE PANTS! I had so many doubts about these. Mainly, am I too old to wear suede pants?? Well, I figured vacation was the perfect place to try them out, and I LOVE them! I’m just going to pretend that 39 really is the new 29 and 29 is totally acceptable for suede pants haha 😉

Oh, and by the time we had gotten ready for dinner, it was dark outside. So…classy hallway shots it was :{. These next pics I took of Maya were from yesterday. A day where I stayed unshowered and in my workout clothes til about 5-which means total darkness now… Hey, it happens 🙂My favorite thing to say is “Maya, can I have a hug?” And she runs crazy into my arms. LOVE IT! 🙂
