I’m trying reeeeaaaaaally hard to take a shower every day (it doesn’t always happen-EW!!!), but when it does, I’m also trying to put on “real clothes” for the latter half of the day. For me…it sets my mindset. I’m having a hard enough time not being out in the world, so for me, at least getting dressed helps.

BUT….I cannot wear things that aren’t comfortable! I HAVE MY LIMITS! So, occasionally, we will play dress up for photos, but on the daily…I’m comfortable. •
Clothing that feels like jammies?? COUNT ME IN! •
Cotton jumpsuits + Super soft cardigans that feel like robes? •
In my mind…I’m in my jammies, yet NOT! •
I have my shit together people! I’m DRESSED!

Sooooo, I had ALL these thoughts of taking ALL the pictures during this “down time”. 😳
Um….big fat NO! 🤣
Yes. We are isolated. We see nobody else, but I’m filling our days, because that is what I do to keep sane. I’m showering every other day, which is so disgusting, but at the end of the day, I just can’t be bothered, and who smells me anyways? Nobody has complained thus far.

Because…I Make. Their. FOOD! 😜
Also, it’s been SUPER cold and WINDY in Seattle lately. SO…I’ve not been in the mood and let it go. (Funny segue…me smelling and it being windy 😂…just me?)

BUT, yesterday…I implemented a new schedule. Things were looking up. We decided to head down to the beach, and finally do my last weeks challenge of dressing down something dressy! Or something like that. Clearly I suck at consistent challenges so…let’s just wing it ok?

I could lie and tell you it went off without a hitch. It most certainly did NOT! 😂

WHOOPS. Found another one that I’m posting out of order. This one was in my drafts, so I have NO idea why I never just hit “Publish”…sigh. Life.

I think it can be super hard to stay fashionable, but also stay comfy and warm. I spend SO much of my time outside with Maya or with clients, and I need to be comfortable, warm…yet…let’s be honest. I still want to look cute!

I scored these Sorel boots at Value Village for $28, and they were NWT! Regularly $275!

I’ve worn them SO many times already! To school pick up/staying for hours…to a shoot! Although, the heel height isn’t ideal for running around for an hour…, and even on a date night! Ok, both our faces…HAHA!

If someone has hints on how to jump and not look like…this.

Let me know 🙂
But…the aftermath of a “shot” has always been my goal with clients, and this…

I’ve been taking sunset silhouette shots at work, and they’ve been something that I LOVE to take! We actually tried taking this before, but I lost the remote in the dark ha! Ok, I can laugh about it now… Making sunset can be tricky. It’s either past Maya’s bedtime, during bedtime ritual, during dinner, during making of dinner, or…during my crazy busy time.

So… I capture my amazing families at the golden hour, but I can’t seem to capture US lately!

To be honest…I’m BURNT OUT when I actually have time to shoot us in between the chaos…

Maya got inspired too! I asked her to pick out a “spring dress” (as an avid thrifter…she has a lot to choose from 🙈), and I styled the dress she picked for the warmth of our 46 degree WINDY day. 😳. LOTS OF LAYERS!

Of course she picked a party dress, but she said she was ok with jeans underneath for warmth! 😂 She’s so obsessed with these wedges!! She’s 8!! Yet, already wants high heels! NO THANK YOU! Soooo not ready!!! 🙈

We came out of quarantine tonight (more on that later #coronavirus ) to brave an empty beach park… I put all my gear on plastic, had wipes and hand sanitizer…such is life in Seattle right now. Especially if you have people you love that have compromised health issues. Again..more on that later.

Right now, I just need some fun and fashion in my life, so we did that!

It’s been helping ME, so honestly…I’m still doing it!

Adding on to this…we actually took Maya out of school a week and a half before the schools actually closed. We saw the writing on the wall, and decided to quarantine early. It wasn’t easy. The decision was met with A LOT of skepticism by friends.

“Well, we will see you in a few weeks when all this dies down!”

I wish…

I wrote this on Instagram a few days later with a flashback picture….

We are on day 13 of #selfisolation, and I’m not going to lie to you… It hasn’t been easy. 😭
And by self isolation, let me be clear. Maya and I haven’t left the house/been within 6 feet (ok a few times closer by accident) to ANYONE besides the Huz in that time.

Admittedly, I was frustrated that we were the only ones here in that position-we pulled Maya out of school/all activities before anyone else… (my husband has been following this and correctly projecting where we would be for over a month, and honestly…I was in denial for a while and freaked out by it!!)
BUT… We are sadly, not alone anymore.

I wish he was wrong…

I’ve had a few weeks to process all of this before some of you. It was NOT a happy few weeks. I was homeschooling Maya before everyone else. There are no words to describe how AMAZING she has been through all of this!!

I have been wavering about what to post about this, but… just posting this for now.

We CAN get through this.
It IS a time for us to bond as a family.

I had a much needed moms’ night out tonight, but before that…
Much needed US minutes out! We took these 20 minutes before my friend came over!

This is the first time we’ve taken pictures together this YEAR! I used to take pictures of us 3-5 times a week! Sigh…
Funny video in our stories when Maya said “It’s been THREE YEARS!” I honestly thought she would have said it’s been three DAYS or months… Which is about accurate!

In any case. Maybe we both miss it. CLEARLY!

I’m hoping for more pictures of us…she’s not so on board…

The one thing that’s interesting is that most of the stuff I’m still wearing now. I wore these leather pants to this years Thanksgiving meal. SO comfy…with an elastic waist-SCORE!

There was a bit of a formatting issue, so…I’m redoing it! Seems WordPress is a liiiiiittle different after taking a two year break-ha!

I took a loooong break on blogging.

These were taken two years ago on Thanksgiving. We actually had a DRY Thanksgiving and time before the meal with actual DAYLIGHT. Those three things rarely all happen…

This was back when Maya still loved wearing fancy dresses! Sadly, Covid changed that. Or…not sadly? Honestly, I don’t care, but I do have a closet full of unworn dresses I need to sell now.

I actually took these pictures the next day as I had the leftovers for my lunch.

Dare I say that it was even better the next day?!

Isn’t that the case with a lot of dishes? The flavors just need to settle into each other sometimes. One of the many reasons I always make extra!

Ingredients

2 Tablespoons Extra Virgin Olive Oil
1 Teaspoon crushed garlic (I cheat and use Trader Joe’s pre crushed :))
1 Teaspoon Crushed Ginger
1 white onion
2 Cups shredded Carrots
2 Cups Diced Mushrooms
2 lbs ground turkey (I like to make a lot so we have leftovers :))
Avocado for garnish. Not necessary, but the creaminess of the avocado was so good with the savoriness of the dish. Plus…avocado on everything, I say!
Jar of your favorite pasta sauce.
2-4 large sweet potatoes. We all each had just half, but if you only have small sweet potatoes, or love them…do more!

Directions

Start your sweet potatoes ahead of time!! I’ve tried numerous times, and they ALWAYS take longer than they are supposed to! This might be the ONE thing that pushes me over the edge to finally try my Instapot….that has been sitting there unused for the last two years, because I’m scared of it haha. BUT…

Place sweet potatoes on a baking sheet or a baking pan, pierce with a fork and bake for an hour, or until the inside is soft. It took my ginormous ones an hour and 15, so fair warning if you are on a time schedule for dinner!! 😦
Dice up onion while your potatoes are cooking…you’ll have plenty of time 😉
Sautee 2 Tablespoons of Extra Virgin Olive Oil with garlic, ginger, and onions for about 5 minutes.
Add in ground turkey (or any ground meat!)
Add in diced mushrooms
Add in shredded carrots
Either add Trader Joe’s “Everyday Seasoning” or…add all the things…I’m lazy.
Add in your pasta sauce.
When potatoes are done, take them out, cut in half if big, or slice down the center if small or medium. Crush it up a little.
Spoon on meat and veggie mixture, and top with avocado!

Took these super quick one day.

Ok, that day was last year.

Like 3 minutes from the first shot to the last haha.

It’s easy to say now that I took these in 3 minutes…it was easy! But…I can’t even manage to run outside for 3 minutes now! And clearly…didn’t have time to blog these even though they took me 3 minutes to take.

This is my total transitional weather outfit. Whether that’s fall or spring.

Lightweight long sleeve top (usually striped ha!), denim jacket, destroyed jeans, and comfy clogs.

And, who else thinks the no white after Labor Day is a joke?

I CAN’T EVEN IMAGINE!

A few weeks ago, I met the Huz downtown to go out and celebrate his birthday.

(edited to add…the Huz’s birthday was in January….)

I managed to run outside really quick before I left to take some pics, which NEVER happens!!

I loooooove the back of this top! And it works super well with a high waisted jean! I love it even more that it looks a little prim and proper from the front, and then you turn around… I even managed to lure Maya outside for a few! Messy after school hair and all 🙂 Gah, love her!
