Chunky Knit + Leather Pants + Loafers- Mom’s Night Out

I had a much needed moms’ night out tonight, but before that…
Much needed US minutes out! We took these 20 minutes before my friend came over!

This is the first time we’ve taken pictures together this YEAR! I used to take pictures of us 3-5 times a week! Sigh…
Funny video in our stories when Maya said “It’s been THREE YEARS!” I honestly thought she would have said it’s been three DAYS or months… Which is about accurate!

In any case. Maybe we both miss it. CLEARLY!

I’m hoping for more pictures of us…she’s not so on board…

It’s been weird looking back on pictures taken “pre-Covid”….

The one thing that’s interesting is that most of the stuff I’m still wearing now. I wore these leather pants to this years Thanksgiving meal. SO comfy…with an elastic waist-SCORE!

Ok…I debated erasing the first two paragraphs of this blog post, since I originally wrote it in…SEPTEMBER!!! But, whatever. I normally can’t think of things to say, so…I’ll just leave it as is, and we can pretend this is a transition to spring post haha.

Same thing…

Fall is definitely in the air here in Seattle! Normally, September is still pretty sunny and nice, but when we got 80 degree days in May, all the rules have been off since.

Not going to lie. I LOVE the in between the season days. You get to break out clothing you haven’t worn in a while, but you get to go back and forth over the next few weeks. This weekend, we are supposed to be in the 70’s again, so we still have a little bit of summer left to enjoy!

Until then…one of my favorite fall staples is a basic gray sweatshirt! Paired with a pair of comfy boyfriend jeans, and Converse, and you basically feel like you’re wearing a pair of pajamas all day-WIN! blog-james-perse-sweatshirt-current-elliott-boyfriend-super-loved-jeans-converse-1 Her face! I don’t know about other Mom’s, but usually on the rare occasion that I go out at night- I’m still sitting in my sweats, hair a frizzy mess, no make up on, and NO idea what I’m wearing…about 20 minutes before we are due to head out the door.

So, of course, there are rarely pictures of me all done up in my “going out” clothes here.

This past Friday, we went out early on a double date with my parents, and we actually got home before 9! It was the first time we left Maya with her youngest (oldest brother 15) as her babysitter!!

Honestly, it was perfect! We had an amazing time, ate a LOT of delicious food, drank some amazing wine, and rode the bus home (um, so fun and way cheaper!!)

AND…another total upside? I could run outside and take a few pictures while it was still light!

I swear it’s a toss up between what’s better…

Going out and having your kid put to bed when you get home…

AND…

Having them still up when you get home, so you can hug and kiss them before they go to bed.

BOTH = HEAVEN.

Can’t get much more classic than a white button down and jeans. It will NEVER go out of style!! But, there’s always ways to dress it up or dress it down. I added a fun vintage scarf and cropped swing leather jacket for a more casual Valentine’s Day dinner idea.

Keeping it Real…

We never go out for Valentine’s Day. I personally think the holiday is a little too over hyped, but it’s been fun seeing Maya get all excited about it! The Huz always makes us something super yummy at home, so no crowds-yay! So…this outfit was purely for fun to dress up in! Which lasted all of 5 minutes, because I had to go pick Maya up from Preschool haha. Honestly, I’ve thought about wearing this a few times on various date nights, but then went with something else. I figured I’d at least wear it once for something!! 🙂 Honestly, I might do that a little more often while Maya is in school. Wear things that I’ve always wanted to wear, but haven’t had the chance.
