Weekend getaway-Date Night…take 2 (faux leather :))!

So for our first date night on our getaway, I wore my new suede pants. The 2nd night it was a faux leather! I love this faux leather top from ASTR. I’ve been dying to wear it, but it’s been too cold in Seattle. Perfect for a sunny California getaway 🙂 Such fun details… Then, not to leave Maya out… I took these a little while ago on a “sweats day” haha. She’s obsessed with these snowboots! And…her duck 🙂

So, weekend getaways mean a lot of things. Relaxation (i.e.-no cooking, no cleaning, no WORKING!!). They also usually mean-date nights! I get to wear things I’ve been saving for a special occasion. This time? SUEDE PANTS! I had so many doubts about these. Mainly, am I too old to wear suede pants?? Well, I figured vacation was the perfect place to try them out, and I LOVE them! I’m just going to pretend that 39 really is the new 29 and 29 is totally acceptable for suede pants haha 😉

Oh, and by the time we had gotten ready for dinner, it was dark outside. So…classy hallway shots it was :{. These next pics I took of Maya were from yesterday. A day where I stayed unshowered and in my workout clothes til about 5-which means total darkness now… Hey, it happens 🙂My favorite thing to say is “Maya, can I have a hug?” And she runs crazy into my arms. LOVE IT! 🙂

The Huz and I were SO lucky to get away for a few days this past weekend. My parents watched Maya, and we flew down to Southern California for some sun (what is that?!) and relaxation (again…what is that??!)

It was SO nice to feel the sun on our faces and walk barefoot in the sand…

I’m a big believer in putting things together that you like, and that look good on you. Rules schmules (to some extent!). Then…fingers crossed they work. And if they don’t, oh well. At least you like what you’re wearing. If you feel good, chances are you look good too 🙂 I can’t tell you how many times I tried to make something work that I liked on someone else, but felt so uncomfortable all day that I hated it/couldn’t wait to fling it off when I got home.

Now, there’s really nothing odd about this outfit. At least I don’t think there is? haha. The Pink Polka Dot Vans are a little playful (totally remind me of my childhood), and the jacket is a little edgy. Not exactly the “perfect fit”, but I was comfortable, so it was a win 🙂 LOVE the details in this Doma jacket. I bought it when I worked at Sway and Cake for a year on the weekends (9 years ago??). Yeah, THAT was dangerous… Anyway, it still totally current and still looks great! Baby Bear is back again… He makes her so happy, that if he’s in every shot from here on out, I don’t care! On me…

I had to take Maya back to Children’s Hospital on Tuesday for a test that took up two parts of the day. What sounded perfect, was to be wrapped up in a cozy blanket. Truth be told, what sounded perfect was not having to do it at all! Well, this cape/wrap did the trick…for making me feel cozy, that is.

My mom got these next few of Maya and me…

After every visit, they give her a stuffed animal. She is now OBSESSED with “baby bear”. You will be seeing a lot of him, I’m predicting… 😉 Jumping for joy, because the test is over haha 🙂 I completely forgot to get pics of just me until it was almost dark. I grabbed the tripod, ran outside, and did not care AT ALL that all my neighbors driving home from work were wondering what I was doing 🙂 Great news- The scan showed no kidney damage-WOO HOO.

I may have just snagged this Gap shirt at a thrift store for $6, but I’ve had a version of this outfit for the last…um 20+ years? :} There are certain things you should just never get rid of. I got this sweater in the mail from StyleMint the other day, and I couldn’t wait to wear it! I love that I can put a long sleeve t shirt under it and wear it now, but also can’t wait to wear it next spring/summer too!

As a side note. If it’s overcast (diffuses the harsh midday sun), I try and do these shoots around lunch time so that I can stick Maya in her wagon with her lunch to keep her occupied. Today she was watching me run back and forth with the self timer and she kept laughing and saying “Hi Mommy! What are you doing?!” Over and over… 🙂 I tried to get her to throw the leaves up in the air, and this is what I got 🙂 On me…

Ever since starting this blog, I’ve started dressing up a little more than I have since I started working from home (which was 6 years ago). The Huz is really liking that part 🙂 I’ve always had the other clothes, but kind of fell into a rut. When you work from home, are a stay at home mom, or in my case both, it can just be easier to stay in your sweats haha. Most days, I don’t take my shower until later in the day, which means hair in a bun… All that said, I feel SO much better about myself when I do get out of my sweats and actually put some thought into my clothes. Even if I don’t make it into the shower haha 🙂

So, I may not have taken a shower, nor put a lot of thought into my outfit, but at least I’m not in my sweats 🙂 Oh, but wait…at least we don’t match!On me…

Double post day, but these outfits would be totally silly on any other day, so….I’m so in love with these cashmere sweaters from Stylemint!! I bought this one after getting the mustard colored one. Sadly, they are sold out now, but go keep checking back or really…check out their other awesome stuff. Great basics at a reasonable price (and they post sales often too :))! And no…I wouldn’t normally wear this sweater with black, nor would I try and match Maya this much. 🙂 She kept wanting me to blow bubbles with my gum haha. My little assistant 🙂
