Trouser Jeans + A Statement Jacket

Well, I did it. I got out of my skinny jeans!

Truthfully, I took the boots off right after these pictures in favor of a more comfy shoe, BUT…I did wear the trouser jeans for the rest of the day 🙂 It was SO windy!! My tripod was ok, but the stand I use to focus on kept blowing over! I love the color of this jacket! Normally, my “pop of color” is in my shoes or belt. I wore this outfit when the Huz and I went out to dinner with my parents. These pants from H&M are a liiiiittle hard to get on, but they have an elastic waist so they are totally comfy.

It was the perfect time to go all out with the color on Maya. This is so not me (therefore not her haha) to wear such bold colors and flowers, but I love it! She had to wear the hat (she wears it around the house constantly)! Hey, it kind of matches, so we went with it! I’ll admit that I didn’t realize just how tight these pants were until I looked back on these pictures :{ Darn holiday indulging! Kind of looks like she’s break dancing! I’ve had these boots for…I don’t even know how long! I’ve only worn them 2-3 times, and never as over the knee. They have the option of folding them down “pirate boot” style, and that’s how I’ve always done it. I just feel too…I don’t know. Self conscious?? Ok, streetwalkerish :{

So, truthfully, this outfit only got as far as the alley haha. But, I had to photograph it to see what it looked like, because I’m loving all the over the knee boots I’m seeing others wear!

Thoughts? Windy much??? Sheesh… I was nervous the tripod would blow over!!I tried to sell these on eBay a few months ago (obviously didn’t sell :|). I accidentally left them in our sun room and the sun bleached them! I’m pretending they’re ombre… 🙂 Then folded down. Which is more my comfort zone… So, up or down? Which do you like better? Or should I just drop them off for donation and be done with them? Then for Maya’s picks. I took these a few days ago when it wasn’t so windy! She is such a funny kid. People often ask if she’s really that happy. 70% of the time…yes, she is 🙂 On me…

This is what we wore for Thanksgiving. I don’t know why, but for me, Thanksgiving usually means brown and big shocker-COMFY! 😉 No idea why on the brown, but the comfy is a no brainer. Anyway…this is waht we wore. For me-minus the shoes. We hosted, which means no shoes required 🙂 I’ve mentioned it before, but these DL1961 jeans are beyond comfortable. They have a 4 way stretch fabric that moves with you and then bounces back without sagging! Ok, truth be told. I didn’t have time to photograph what I was wearing on the actual day, so I redressed and photographed it the other day haha. I was too busy making pies!! Oh, and photographing the Peanut 🙂 THIS (below) was actually on Thanksgiving. It was totally foggy. My favorite to shoot in! And it was chilly! I had to get ONE picture of her dress before layering her up! I got these Gap boots for $2.75 at a thrift store last week. I was worried that they wouldn’t go with much, but they go with everything! It was my friend’s birthday the other night, so we went to someplace special. He’s a total foodie, so we let him pick the spot. When I looked at the menu, I knew I needed a top that had “room to grow” haha. That is one of the things I love so much about “boho” tops. They are loose and flow so you can’t see the “after food and wine belly” 🙂

I love stacking jewelry. Even before it was the thing to do. Mainly because I’m too lazy to take anything off and rotate, so I just keep everything on haha. This time I mixed $4 bangles from H&M with…a not $4 bracelet 🙂 And because it was a “going out” night, I didn’t get mixed pics of me and Maya, but I took these a few weeks ago and never blogged them. Super Mom Tip

These tops are great for so many occasions/times in your life. Wear them in the first trimester when you are trying to “hide the bump”. Then wear them after the baby comes to…well, “hide the bump” :{ Then, wear them when you have a two year old to hide the food baby 🙂 That said. It’s best to wear loose flowing tops with tighter bottoms to even things out. 🙂

I have this exact jacket it a bright orange (worn last here), and I love it! I get compliments every time I wear it, and even let a senior wear it for her senior portraits. When I saw it on eBay a while back in green (my favorite color), I sooooo wanted it!! I let it go (did I really need another leather jacket???!) Then, I saw it again a few weeks ago at a screaming deal (aka FATE haha), so I snatched it up! I have a few Doma Leather jackets. You know all those weekends where you play with your kids during the day and then get to go out with your husband at night? Yeah…me either. However, it does happen on occasion, and a lot of times it’s a short notice offer from my parents that we jump on. Here’s an outfit that lets you run around during the day, then swap out the shoes for night. These are so comfy, and I love the added bling of the glitter. So not me, but fun! I think Maya is rubbing off on me haha. Then a little bootie for night! Haha, just reread that. And, yes to that too 😉 Funny story. I’ve had these boots for probably 10 years! That is the upside to buying quality leather… I used to wear them under my long bootcut jeans. You never even saw how cute they were. Love that it’s in fashion to let them show now! Remember-~~hoarding~~, I mean holding onto quality classics, is good 🙂 These were all done with the self timer again. Maya was a little sad she wasn’t in them all!

90% of the time I wear skinny jeans.

a) Because it feels like I’m wearing sweats (if you get ones that have stretch, which all of mine do!)

b) The inseam on them is usually more conducive to my shorter legs, or they look ok scrunched at the bottom or rolled! Which all boils down to NO HEMMING!

c) I can wear them with flip flops, flats, or boots (aka any season!)

All that said. I love the look of a wide leg jean. I’m really into the super wide leg, but found these mid rise (thought I’d NEVER go back there!) wide leg jeans from Citizens of Humanity at a thrift store ($7!) and figured I’d try them!

Not sure if it was the same trip, but I scored these Jeffrey Campbell wedges at the thrift store too (less than $10)! If I ever put on a heel (for non going out day wear), it’s going to be a wedge. Not sure why, but they are just so much more comfortable. This top is just a glorified T (yup, still staying true to my jeans and t-shirt uniform!)

Then to dress it up a little for maybe a date night or client meeting (if you have a little more casual work place environment)…add a cropped leather jacket and another pair of leather wedges! I know that nobody will really see it, but I’m a sucker for cool lining 🙂 Maya cheated on her skinnies too 🙂On me…
