Happy Valentine’s Day!

If you follow us on Instagram, then you saw this image last night. I take most of the pictures of me/me with Maya with a tripod and self timer. It’s convenient, but there are some limitations. As I’m getting more confident, I’m trying more things. I was SO excited that this one turned out! 🙂 Let’s pretend that I hung the “Happy” up too. The place where we took these is right near a very busy street. Maya was pretty good while I was hanging these two, but then she started getting antsy. Figured it was good enough haha. Ok, truth be told, we didn’t have a date night. I’ve been dying to wear these pants though, so…I pretended 😉 I’ve been obsessed with the Paige Edgemont jeans for a while now, but could never pay that price. Even on eBay they go for $75+ (no thank you!). When I saw these on sale at H&M (for $10!!), I had to try them. I LOVE them! Scored these on my last Value Village trip. So comfy! I would have scoffed at the title too, but hear me out. This week I tried to work in pants that have been sitting in my closet gathering dust. I tend to “save things for a special occasion”, and then…never wear them!! Leather pants for day? Playing in a park?? YES! Maya got mud ALL OVER ME when I kept picking her up. Since I had wet wipes handy, I just wiped it right off. TADA! Leather Pants… The new mom jeans! 😉 Granted, leather pants can be SPENDY, but I scored these off eBay for $50-whoop whoop!

Took the tripod and ventured out of the hood again. Looking for ducks…that I may have told her would be there and weren’t :{ See? No dirt!

Well, I did it. I got out of my skinny jeans!

Truthfully, I took the boots off right after these pictures in favor of a more comfy shoe, BUT…I did wear the trouser jeans for the rest of the day 🙂 It was SO windy!! My tripod was ok, but the stand I use to focus on kept blowing over! I love the color of this jacket! Normally, my “pop of color” is in my shoes or belt. This is a little bold for me, but 2014 is going to be about stepping outside of my comfort zone! On me…

I couldn’t even tell you the last time I stayed up til midnight on New Year’s Eve. Wow…I sound old 😦 It’s been even longer since I went out. It just get’s so crazy out there, and my days of dancing til 2:00 am are few and far between.

That said. I thought it would be fun to dress up as if we were going out! Isn’t that the best part??

This is Maya’s “Happy New Year!!”As a side note. If I were really going out, I probably wouldn’t wear my hair like this, but our power was out for 4 hours this morning and it was the best I could do 🙂 I’ve been dying to wear these faux leather pants, but had no where to wear them. In front of my house seemed perfect haha. I love this vintage coat. It even is signed on the lining by the woman who made it. How cute is that? It has a fun sash too… The best part of Maya’s outfit? That sweater! I found it at a thrift store in the kids section, but it’s really a woman’s wool sweater that got washed, dried, and shrunk! It fits Maya perfectly though haha. So…if you happen to shrink a sweater, try it on your toddler 😉 Hope everyone has a fun and safe New Year!

I wore this outfit when the Huz and I went out to dinner with my parents. These pants from H&M are a liiiiittle hard to get on, but they have an elastic waist so they are totally comfy.

It was the perfect time to go all out with the color on Maya. This is so not me (therefore not her haha) to wear such bold colors and flowers, but I love it! She had to wear the hat (she wears it around the house constantly)! Hey, it kind of matches, so we went with it! I’ll admit that I didn’t realize just how tight these pants were until I looked back on these pictures :{ Darn holiday indulging! Kind of looks like she’s break dancing! Nope, just jumping in the puddle 🙂 I could eat her up, she’s so flipping cute… On me…

This holiday card was such a comedy of errors…

Maya falls on a metal toy and gives herself a black eye the day before (thank you Photoshop!!) -> Our kitchen sink broke at 11pm the night before -> the Huz stayed up late trying to fix it -> was too tired to fix it -> He got up at 6am to try some more -> Kept trying for 6 HOURS, including multiple trips to the hardware store, thus blew through our original 10am shoot time. Huz FIXES THE SINK! -> Time for Maya’s nap so we decide to try when she wakes up -> Maya boycotts nap for almost 2 hours and finally falls asleep -> She wakes up at 5, cranky and hungry -> Light is fading fast, so we decide to just rally everyone up and go for it -> The outfit I had originally had in my head did NOT go well with the kids clothes (which was what I was most worried about) and the Huz hated his sweater… -> Maya is starving and wants a cracker every 30 seconds -> entire shoot lasts 15 minutes from first shutter click to the last shutter click (including cracker breaks).

All that said…(now that 2 months have gone by) I love our holiday card. It’s us 🙂

I’ve had these boots for…I don’t even know how long! I’ve only worn them 2-3 times, and never as over the knee. They have the option of folding them down “pirate boot” style, and that’s how I’ve always done it. I just feel too…I don’t know. Self conscious?? Ok, streetwalkerish :{

So, truthfully, this outfit only got as far as the alley haha. But, I had to photograph it to see what it looked like, because I’m loving all the over the knee boots I’m seeing others wear!

Thoughts? Windy much??? Sheesh… I was nervous the tripod would blow over!!I tried to sell these on eBay a few months ago (obviously didn’t sell :|). I accidentally left them in our sun room and the sun bleached them! I’m pretending they’re ombre… 🙂 Then folded down. Which is more my comfort zone… So, up or down? Which do you like better? Or should I just drop them off for donation and be done with them? Then for Maya’s picks. I took these a few days ago when it wasn’t so windy! She is such a funny kid. People often ask if she’s really that happy. 70% of the time…yes, she is 🙂 On me…

Dinner with the Huz’s boss…

The Huz’s boss came into town last night from Chicago, and took us out to a nice dinner. I was all excited to get a little dressed up, and even had some options picked out (duh)! Then…got a call a few hours before go time. “So, we got done with our meetings early. He wants to go back to the hotel and change into jeans.”

What?? Jeans? Conservative? BOSS??

So…nothing fancy, but here’s what I wore.And, earlier, this is what M wore.
