Classic Button Down + Jeans | Thrift Store SCORES!

I don’t think there’s ever an outfit post where either Maya or I (usually both!) are wearing something that I’ve scored at a thriftstore or on eBay.  I usually don’t dress head to toe in thrift finds, although Maya usually does 😉  This past week, I totally scored though.  I was bummed that I missed out on the Memorial Day 50% off sales, but I figured later in the week they’d probably have to replenish pretty heavily.  BOY WAS I RIGHT!!  I had a 30% off coupon from donating, so I tried my luck and scored this entire outfit for less than $20!  Retail, it would have been $400+!!Blog Theory White Button Down AG Cropped Skinny Jeans Carlos Santana Tribe Clogs-1What’s a more classic outfit than a white button down and jeans?  I love the fun tribal clog to add a little twist and a pop of color 🙂 Blog Theory White Button Down AG Cropped Skinny Jeans Carlos Santana Tribe Clogs-2 Blog Theory White Button Down AG Cropped Skinny Jeans Carlos Santana Tribe Clogs-3 Blog Theory White Button Down AG Cropped Skinny Jeans Carlos Santana Tribe Clogs-4 Blog Theory White Button Down AG Cropped Skinny Jeans Carlos Santana Tribe Clogs-5 Blog Theory White Button Down AG Cropped Skinny Jeans Carlos Santana Tribe Clogs-6 Blog Theory White Button Down AG Cropped Skinny Jeans Carlos Santana Tribe Clogs-7 Blog Theory White Button Down AG Cropped Skinny Jeans Carlos Santana Tribe Clogs-8 Blog Theory White Button Down AG Cropped Skinny Jeans Carlos Santana Tribe Clogs-9And Maya’s entire outfit was less than $5!!!  Yes, I scored her TWO pairs of Saltwater Sandals lately for $1.50 each!

Mother’s Day 2015

Every year, both my mom and I ask for one thing on Mother’s Day.  Pictures.  The apple doesn’t fall far haha.

I got soooo much more though, and it truly was the perfect day.  Maya and I started off going for a morning walk with my parents while the Huz got some work done (and snuck away to Pike Place to get both me and my mom gorgeous flowers!).  Then, we took a little day trip to Snoqualmie Falls.  Came home in time for Maya to “nap” 😉  while I got some work done, then my parents came over for an AMAZING dinner the Huz prepared.  Couldn’t have asked for a better day…

I ditched the tripod and my mom got these of me and Maya before dinner.Blog J Crew Peasant Blouse DL1961 Emma Cellar Faconnable Espadrilles-1Btw, my entire outfit is thrifted, and the total cost was around $20! 🙂 Blog J Crew Peasant Blouse DL1961 Emma Cellar Faconnable Espadrilles-2 Blog J Crew Peasant Blouse DL1961 Emma Cellar Faconnable Espadrilles-3 Blog J Crew Peasant Blouse DL1961 Emma Cellar Faconnable Espadrilles-4 Blog J Crew Peasant Blouse DL1961 Emma Cellar Faconnable Espadrilles-5 Blog J Crew Peasant Blouse DL1961 Emma Cellar Faconnable Espadrilles-6 Blog J Crew Peasant Blouse DL1961 Emma Cellar Faconnable Espadrilles-7 Blog J Crew Peasant Blouse DL1961 Emma Cellar Faconnable Espadrilles-8This looks super sweet, but she’s just about to bite my nose haha. 😉 Blog J Crew Peasant Blouse DL1961 Emma Cellar Faconnable Espadrilles-9 Blog J Crew Peasant Blouse DL1961 Emma Cellar Faconnable Espadrilles-10Blog GapKids Cardigan Chambray Dress Edie Mark Kids Sandals-1-Blog GapKids Cardigan Chambray Dress Edie Mark Kids Sandals-1I could just eat her up!!!Blog GapKids Cardigan Chambray Dress Edie Mark Kids Sandals-2And then my dad got these of the three of us.  That little smirk KILLS ME!!Blog Mothers Day 2015-1Blog Mothers Day 2015-2Blog Mothers Day 2015-3Blog Mothers Day 2015-4Blog Mothers Day 2015-5Blog Mothers Day 2015-6After dinner and a liiiittle wine, we all came back outside.  I switched up Maya’s sweater so that she would match the Huz 🙂Blog Mothers Day 2015-7Dancing with Daddy 🙂Blog Mothers Day 2015-8The Huz finally got on the receiving end of Maya’s licking kisses 🙂Blog Mothers Day 2015-9And then my mom got a few of me and the Huz.Blog Mothers Day 2015-10LOVE this one.Blog Mothers Day 2015-11Blog Mothers Day 2015-12Yeah, Maya wanted nothing to do with getting in a pic with us.Blog Mothers Day 2015-13Blog Mothers Day 2015-14But you couldn’t get her OUT of the pictures I was trying to take of my parents hahaha.  She’s actually in the one above this too, but I zoomed in and cropped her out 😉Blog Mothers Day 2015-15Blog Mothers Day 2015-16Blog Mothers Day 2015-17Blog Mothers Day 2015-18Blog Mothers Day 2015-19On me…

My inner Boho…

Blog Joie J Brand Gorjana Griffin-1 Blog Joie J Brand Gorjana Griffin-2 I have totally been drawn to super wide leg denim lately.  Sadly, my legs are SO short that I need to hem or fake cuff them and then even with that wear 4 inch heels.  That is SO not happening on regular basis.  It was fun to dress up like I did before having Maya for a little bit though… Blog Joie J Brand Gorjana Griffin-3 Blog Joie J Brand Gorjana Griffin-4 Blog Joie J Brand Gorjana Griffin-5Um…see?  Running after her in 4 inch heels.  NOT GOOD. Thrift Store Shopping…

To say that I love thrift stores would be a bit of an understatement.  I’ve talked about it a little here and there on this blog and on Instagram, but I thought I’d do a post where Maya and I are wearing ALL thrift store purchases, and do a breakdown on the cost vs sharing links.  We’ve worn everything below on the blog already, so links have already been provided for similar items.

Funny story.  I thought we would venture out of our neighborhood for this shoot, but it was so sunny (out of nowhere!) and WINDY (neither is which is good for pics), so my hopes of doing this with a Seattle skyline backdrop got dashed, and….we ended up down the street from my house haha.  Yes, all these pics are still taken with a tripod and self timer 🙂Blog Vintage Leather Jacket Zara J Brand Born Booties-1 Blog Vintage Leather Jacket Zara J Brand Born Booties-2 Blog Vintage Leather Jacket Zara J Brand Born Booties-3 Blog Vintage Leather Jacket Zara J Brand Born Booties-4In order of my favorite ways to get what you want at a fraction of the cost-

  1. eBay-By far the best way to get what you want for a fraction of the cost.  The search bar and category/size features make it so easy to find what you want.  That said, a lot of sellers don’t do a great job of listing what they have, so sometimes broaden your search and you’ll get  the real steals!  eBay tip-bid the minimum bid right away if it’s something that you want.  I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been watching something, then forget about it, see that it ended for no bids, then it gets relisted and snatched up-GRRR!  On things I really want, I set a reminder (yes, I’m that big of a nerd) and then bid in the last 10 seconds.  If you think that is extreme, I’m not alone!  I’ve been outbid with 2 seconds left!   Then…sell what you don’t want and make $$ to buy what you do want.  “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure” FOR SURE!  I’d say half of what I wear on here is from eBay 🙂
  2. Thrift Stores– By this, I mean Value Village, GoodWill, or something similar.  Goodwill posts a monthly calendar of discount days.  So, if you go and see something you like, but it’s more than you want to spend, look up the color and go back 🙂  Value Village has their Super Saver program, which obviously I’m a part of haha.  You get email notifications for random days that are 30-50% off clothing, and you get to take part in holiday sale days a day earlier than everyone else.  It’s free-sign up!!  They also have 30% off punch cards every few months, where you get stamps for every $5 purchased or bag donated.
  3. Consignment Shops– These are a little more expensive than thrift stores, but not always.  A lot of times, they don’t know the current designers and accidentally mark them lower.  Ie-just scored a pair of Current Elliot boyfriend jeans for $18 (retail for $200+)!!  And…because I had a credit for bringing stuff I didn’t wear anymore, they were FREE!!!  Don’t we all have things that we are sick of wearing?  Still cute?  Someone else will LOVE it, and you get credit to buy something “new” to you that you’ll love!  Or…just get cash to spend elsewhere 🙂
  4. Antique Stores– Not where you might originally think to shop, but there are SO many fun things to buy at a fraction of retail price.  Clothing-think cool leather jackets, wool jackets, adorable dresses, awesome shoes that are totally on trend right now (cowboy boots, loafers, oxfords, and amazing heels if you have itty bitty feet which I don’t) and fun sweaters.  Then…there’s furniture!  I could do (and probably will!) an entire blog post on cool furniture you can snag at a fraction of today’s prices.

And…here’s what we scored recently.
