Keeping it Real…
As a side note.  For those of you that are potty training your toddler or have a toddler that is trained, I HIGHLY recommend the Kalencom 2-in1 Potette.  It’s been a LIFESAVER when we are out and about either running errands or down at the beach/park.  It has legs that stand it upright, but it can also fold flat out to be put over a toilet seat.  I also bought this pack of these liners.  Super easy to use, and Maya loves using it.  It folds up pretty small, so I just keep it in my car, or I throw it in my beach bag.  Not really sure what the laws are about toddlers peeing in public haha, but that falls under the beg for forgiveness rather than ask for permission category for me 🙂

An acceptable outfit that feels like pajamas? I’m IN!

I got these pants during the last “Clear the Rack” sale at Nordstom Rack.  I had meant for them to be to wear to shoot weddings.  I kept meaning to test them out first (an all day wedding is NOT the time to try something new!), but just remembered about them last night.  It’s been in the upper 70’s to mid 80’s lately, and these were PERFECT!  They are super light weight.  The flat front is flattering, yet the elastic back makes them super comfy.  I originally meant them to be dressy, but threw on loose T and sandals instead.  Basically, I felt like I was wearing pajamas all day.  LOVE THAT!  Pretty sure I will be living in these from now on haha. I love, love, LOVE that Maya is getting more adventurous!  I’ve mentioned before that she’s been kind of a scaredy cat when it comes to the playground.  Admittedly, it’s a bit of a catch 22.  Part of me loves that she’s so scared and I don’t really  have to worry about her doing anything dangerous, but part of me is so proud that she’s starting to climb more and take some risks.  Go Maya!!

Dropwaist Dress + Booties

I scored this Juicy Couture tunic off of ThredUp for $9! Honestly, I got a few things for both me and Maya.  I had a $10 credit for referring someone (they got $10 too-WIN!!  You can too by clicking the link above), so basically it was free! I swear I’m always so impressed when I get a box from them.  They say everything is “practically new”, and it totally is!  There have been a few times when there was a slight flaw (that I would barely notice), and they either sent it anyway (at no charge!) or took it off my order if it wasn’t up to par.  MOST times I’m even more impressed with the item in person than from the pictures!  Anywho…

It’s so easy to throw on and go.  I paired it with another pair of DIY 7FAM cutoffs that were less than $7 at the thriftstore because of a bad hem job.  I’d been wanting to try out a longer cut off and these were the perfect pair to do it with.Blog Juicy Dropwaist Dress 7FAM cut offs Cafe Noir Boots-1 Blog Juicy Dropwaist Dress 7FAM cut offs Cafe Noir Boots-2 Blog Juicy Dropwaist Dress 7FAM cut offs Cafe Noir Boots-3Making sure Dita (Maya’s stick) got some water to drink 😉 Blog Juicy Dropwaist Dress 7FAM cut offs Cafe Noir Boots-4 Blog Juicy Dropwaist Dress 7FAM cut offs Cafe Noir Boots-5I am SO BAD about printing images.  I mean, how do I chose??!!  I think this one might make the cut…Blog CrewCuts Light Levis Cutoffs KidsConnection Sandals-1 Blog CrewCuts Light Levis Cutoffs KidsConnection Sandals-2 Blog CrewCuts Light Levis Cutoffs KidsConnection Sandals-3 Blog CrewCuts Light Levis Cutoffs KidsConnection Sandals-4I had to break it to her that this stick was too big to come home with us 🙂 Blog CrewCuts Light Levis Cutoffs KidsConnection Sandals-5 Blog CrewCuts Light Levis Cutoffs KidsConnection Sandals-6On me…

Thrift Store Shopping…

To say that I love thrift stores would be a bit of an understatement.  I’ve talked about it a little here and there on this blog and on Instagram, but I thought I’d do a post where Maya and I are wearing ALL thrift store purchases, and do a breakdown on the cost vs sharing links.  We’ve worn everything below on the blog already, so links have already been provided for similar items.

Funny story.  I thought we would venture out of our neighborhood for this shoot, but it was so sunny (out of nowhere!) and WINDY (neither is which is good for pics), so my hopes of doing this with a Seattle skyline backdrop got dashed, and….we ended up down the street from my house haha.  Yes, all these pics are still taken with a tripod and self timer 🙂Blog Vintage Leather Jacket Zara J Brand Born Booties-1 Blog Vintage Leather Jacket Zara J Brand Born Booties-2 Blog Vintage Leather Jacket Zara J Brand Born Booties-3 Blog Vintage Leather Jacket Zara J Brand Born Booties-4In order of my favorite ways to get what you want at a fraction of the cost-

  1. eBay-By far the best way to get what you want for a fraction of the cost.  The search bar and category/size features make it so easy to find what you want.  That said, a lot of sellers don’t do a great job of listing what they have, so sometimes broaden your search and you’ll get  the real steals!  eBay tip-bid the minimum bid right away if it’s something that you want.  I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been watching something, then forget about it, see that it ended for no bids, then it gets relisted and snatched up-GRRR!  On things I really want, I set a reminder (yes, I’m that big of a nerd) and then bid in the last 10 seconds.  If you think that is extreme, I’m not alone!  I’ve been outbid with 2 seconds left!   Then…sell what you don’t want and make $$ to buy what you do want.  “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure” FOR SURE!  I’d say half of what I wear on here is from eBay 🙂
  2. Thrift Stores– By this, I mean Value Village, GoodWill, or something similar.  Goodwill posts a monthly calendar of discount days.  So, if you go and see something you like, but it’s more than you want to spend, look up the color and go back 🙂  Value Village has their Super Saver program, which obviously I’m a part of haha.  You get email notifications for random days that are 30-50% off clothing, and you get to take part in holiday sale days a day earlier than everyone else.  It’s free-sign up!!  They also have 30% off punch cards every few months, where you get stamps for every $5 purchased or bag donated.
  3. Consignment Shops– These are a little more expensive than thrift stores, but not always.  A lot of times, they don’t know the current designers and accidentally mark them lower.  Ie-just scored a pair of Current Elliot boyfriend jeans for $18 (retail for $200+)!!  And…because I had a credit for bringing stuff I didn’t wear anymore, they were FREE!!!  Don’t we all have things that we are sick of wearing?  Still cute?  Someone else will LOVE it, and you get credit to buy something “new” to you that you’ll love!  Or…just get cash to spend elsewhere 🙂
  4. Antique Stores– Not where you might originally think to shop, but there are SO many fun things to buy at a fraction of retail price.  Clothing-think cool leather jackets, wool jackets, adorable dresses, awesome shoes that are totally on trend right now (cowboy boots, loafers, oxfords, and amazing heels if you have itty bitty feet which I don’t) and fun sweaters.  Then…there’s furniture!  I could do (and probably will!) an entire blog post on cool furniture you can snag at a fraction of today’s prices.

And…here’s what we scored recently.

You don’t have to spend a ton of money on a cool leather jacket…

Am I the only one that gets sad every time their kid moves up a size?  It’s quickly replaced by excitement over the new bigger sized clothes, but still…a little mourning goes on 🙂1Maya104 weeks Janie Jack Old Navy

Super Mom Tip-
I could talk all day long about my love of thrifting.  The thrill of the hunt.  The excitement over finding things at 90-95% off!  You do NOT have to spend a kazillion dollars to look good or even wear designer items.  If you get overwhelmed at Thrift stores like Value Village/Goodwill or don’t have the patience for eBay, find a local consignment store.  Or not so local.  It might be worth a drive to score a vintage leather jacket for $25 🙂  PLUS, if you drop your clothes off there, you get $$ back which means the jacket could be FREE!!   ThredUp is also a great online source for both gently used clothing for children and women!  Their customer service is amazing, and the quality of clothing is outstanding.
