I wasn’t planning taking pics of us this day. I had a shoot earlier, and on my way home to pick up Maya from my parents house I saw these gorgeous fluffy clouds over the skyline. Since I already had my camera in the car, basically I had to take pics of us in front of this backdrop haha.

Pops of Green { What we wore on St. Patrick’s Day ;) }
Green is my favorite color, so the only problem on St. Patrick’s day is deciding what green item I want to wear!
Yup, this is usually what’s going on when I take the pictures of just me 🙂
And…sometimes it takes a while before she’ll be interested in me again haha.
And then SHE wanted to push the button, but not get in the picture.
“Mommy, I take a picture of YOU!
No, you wait there, I’ll wait here.
Ok, now let’s push the button and see what it looks like!”
What have I created 😉
(below pic taken by Maya ;))
Love it when I catch her mid groove! She’s always busting a move!

So, funny story. Last night I paused a movie that we were watching and I told Maya it was time to go up and take a bath. She looked at me and said-
“I’m going to count to 3…and then…you will turn that back on!”
It took everything I had in me not to laugh. Good grief. I’m in for it…

Comfy Rainy Weekend Wear…
We’ve had uncharacteristically sunny weather lately, but this past weekend Seattle decided to show us what we all know and love. Ok…know 🙂 We had a slight break on Saturday right before we were headed out to the store. So…why not take advantage? haha.
Oh, you’re wondering if I’ve showered? No, I had not 😉 And truth be told, this was my entire weekend outfit. Meaning, I wore it Saturday, slept in the top, then put the jeans back on Sunday! And… that’s real life 😉
Oh, and do you recognize this outfit on Maya from the Paleo Chocolate Mint Bars? Yup, since it was raining, we made those later in the afternoon! She also found these two mini pencils in the back of my car. No idea where they came from since I don’t remember mini golfing recently, and I certainly haven’t gone REAL golfing 🙂
It’s a hard lesson…the picking of flowers. I tell her not to pick any flowers that are in people’s yards. Our flowers are ok ( um, their mostly weeds and wild flowers! ;{ ). But, I tell her that she can pick weeds along the side walk. SO, of course she always does. And gives them to me 🙂

I love EVERYTHING about this next shot!!!

DIY Cut Offs and Twirl Dresses…more fun on the beach.
Once again. Shorts in March in Seattle? LOVING THIS!!
I think I’ve mentioned this before, but another thrifting tip is finding a pair of bootcut jeans a size or two bigger than you want and then cut them off and distress them. You can usually find bootcut designer denim that are marked down to less than $5-$10. The cheapest ones have worn hems, and that’s perfect. You’ll cut that off and have some great fitting cut offs for the summer!

She loves to twirl! 🙂
Hahaha. She wanted to wear a really long dress the other day (haven’t blogged that yet), and I told she could, but that she’d have to hold it up if she wanted to run in the water. Now, she holds up all her dresses. SO CUTE!!!
She’s getting SO good at finding sea glass!!

“So, on the count of three, we are going to jump!”
Um…
Playing with our neighbor who met us down on the beach. 🙂
On me…
Here a stripe, there a stripe, everywhere a stripe, stripe!
And…I apologize if you now have Old MacDonald stuck in your head… :}
I really am so lucky that Maya is a total cuddle bug. Today…was not one of those days though haha. She just wanted to run and play, and really. I can’t blame her!
“Look Mommy, it’s a see saw!” Um…
Ok, I had to try. Hahaha. She was having none of it! 😉
Just wanting to throw sand… ;{
Seriously dying over this vintage cardigan. I rarely find vintage stuff in Maya’s size that’s in good condition. I’ve scored a few things recently though. This is gorgeous, and it will transition perfectly into summer!
And then she spotted Seagulls.
The poor seagulls. Can’t enjoy their lunch in peace. These two had a baseball sized shell of some sort. They kept flying up in the air and then dropping it in the hopes of smashing the shell. I almost got nailed in the head! I was totally scared Maya would get hit, except they wanted to be as far away from her as possible haha.

Part of a crab that another seagull had eaten…
Gosh, sometimes it amazes me how big she’s getting. She’s more than half of me now!! ;{
Ok, on first look, I thought this seagull was flying right at my head (look closely in the water)!! I have a slight fear of birds…

On me…

Skinny Boyfriend Jeans…kind of.
One of my biggest rules of thumbs when shopping (especially in thrift stores), is don’t be afraid to look outside your normal size or section! I got these 7FAM skinny jeans two sizes bigger than I normally wear, and they are the perfect skinny boyfriend jean on me!
I took the first two pics outside of our house while Maya was in preschool. I wasn’t sure if we would have time to go to the beach later, but…we did!
And then…it got too hot for my jacket. Seriously, what is going on Seattle?!! Not complaining though!

Double rock throw!! Pretty impressive 😉

Singing….roaring…a little of both?
Looking for cool shells.
And finding some! 🙂

Shorts…in March…in SEATTLE?!!
I swear I’ve never seen weather this amazing in the PNW in March! I feel like we live in Southern California. Except better, because well, it’s better. I say that having lived in LA for a few years 😉 We went down to the beach both Saturday and Sunday this weekend. We got there before the masses arrived, and Maya just ran and ran and ran. It was awesome!
What’s not awesome? My ridiculously pale legs. I keep meaning to try a bunch of self tanners out, but…haven’t gotten around to it. Sorry! If anyone has one that they swear by (that doesn’t SMELL!!!) please let me know! 🙂
I’ve always loved quotes. I used to cut them out of my Franklin Covey dayplanner (in my past corporate life!) and save them. I have also been known to save fortune cookie fortunes. We handed out quotes in picture frames as our wedding favors. I’ve just started looking them up again. When I saw this one, it made me catch my breath.
Leather Jackets + Boots…never fails.
I scored this leather jacket on eBay about a month ago-for only $89 and free shipping! The one thing I didn’t notice? It was coming from Sweden! UUUGH. So…my sweet deal, took it’s sweet time getting to me. SO WORTH THE WAIT THOUGH!! It is buttery soft, and lightweight. Perfect for the spring and summer! Or…the random gorgeous weather we’ve been having!

So…technology for your toddlers? It’s a big debate. Honestly, I started of my journey in parenthood with a lot of “My kid won’t do this or that!” Excessive screen time was definitely on the “not” list, but…then my sanity came into play. I also think there are a lot of good educational shows and apps. So, all that to say. Yes, Maya gets more screen time than I’d like, but…whatever. If anyone has some good toddler learning apps that they love, I’m all ears. Both of us really like all the ones by Thup. It amazes me how quickly she catches on and learns from them!

Ps-she was NOT this happy right after I took the phone from her. See 2 minutes prior to this below in the “Keeping it Real” section 😉

On me…
And…hahaha. She heard a loud noise (construction) and was a little concerned. Flipping me the bird was totally unintentional (I think).
The Mommy Manicure
I love having my nails painted! For some reason, I feel like even if I haven’t showered, and have no make up on…painted nails signify that I tried haha. Weird, I know, and most days…I don’t try 😉
However, I swear even after a professional manicure, I’m lucky to get one day out of it before it chips. Plus, who has time for that??! It’s an rare extravagance to go into a salon for me. I did try the gel manicure for my friends wedding, and I LOVED how long it stayed on, but hated the removal process!
Then, I saw the Sally Hansens Miracle Gel polish at Target. And because it wouldn’t be a trip to Target without me tossing a few random things in my cart, in it went!
It boasts-
- 2 Steps (true!)
- Up to 14 Days of Color & Shine (the most I’ve gotten is 5, but still…FIVE?!! I wash my hands about 87 times a day, so total win in my book!)
- Easy Removal (you can use regular nail polish remover!! It takes a little longer than normal polish, but still SO much better than buffing and then soaking in acetone like salon gels)
- No light needed (Meaning no magic lamp, but you do need to dry your nails in sunlight. I did the first time, when I got the 5 day result. My second attempt only lasted 2 days, but then I realized I had just let it dry inside the house with no sunlight. So…I wouldn’t skip this step)
Oh, and if you are wondering. You can’t just use the Miracle Gel top coat on regular polish and expect it to last as long. I tried. It didn’t work haha.
Below, I’m wearing “Wine Stock”, which is appropriate for most Moms 😉
Still…most days, I don’t have time to do this. Mainly it’s the dry time. Just sitting and waiting for nail polish to dry…not happening.
SO, what I’ve been doing lately? I call it my “mommy manicure”. I use Sally Hansen Insta-Dri (this isn’t a sponsored post, I’ve just found both of these products work and they happen to both be by Sally Hansen :)) It dries in 60 seconds, and you only need one coat! That means you can literally paint your nails and then run out the door, pick up your toddler, wash your hands, wash their hands, make everyone lunch, scarf lunch, or any of the other 100 things that you need to do during the day. It usually chips a little after a day, but it comes off in about 60 seconds too because it’s only one coat! So…for those days or nights when you want to add a little extra fun, you can do it! Truth be told, I wear it for about 3 days haha. I’m still waiting for the “chipped nails” to become totally fashionable. Let’s all band together and make it happen, no?! Who’s with me?!! 🙂
Below, I’m wearing “Grease Lightening”
With the time I saved NOT doing my nails, I actually had time to do my hair for an impromptu date night last weekend. Woo hoo! Maya was still napping, so no shots of her 😦
This would be my “Oh, hi Mom and Dad!” They just walked up to start Maya duty, so me and the Huz could go out. 🙂
I’d love to hear if anyone else has any time saving beauty tips! Mine usually are just…throw my hair in a bun and run, so I could use some help haha.
On Me
Leather Pants…perfect for the beach!
I’ve talked about my love of leather pants a few times. I’m continually impressed with how versatile they are, although that could be me making them versatile haha! I think I had hoped that was going to be the case, but I still wondered how comfortable I would be wearing them out and about. Truth be told, I can’t believe how comfortable I feel. They truly are the best “Mom pant”! Spills, goobers, mud, and sand wipe right off as if it never happened! Most come with lycra backing, so they are totally stretchy and comfortable-WIN.
Normally the minute her feet hit the sand, she is off and running.
“Mommy, I’m just resting…” 🙂
And then she was off!
DYING!!! Seriously, that belly…those moves!?!
“Mommy, no pictures. Just hold my hand.”
Awe….
And then I snapped one anyway 😉

Nice MJ move, Maya!! 😉

“A beautiful heart knows when it finds another beautiful heart.” The LB Brand nails it with the designs on their clothing!! Seriously, this shirt almost ties with the “Dear Big Me” shirt that melted my heart upon reading it a little over a year ago. I am soooo stoked that Maya will be doing a Revamped Kid Uniform feature for this amazing brand in a few months. It’s one of the first blogs I started following when we started this blog, and it’s one of the few blogs that I faithfully read every single time I get the email notification of a new post! The owner, Jen, has banded women together from all over the world in a way that is truly amazing. Not just by producing killer clothing, but by using and featuring real moms and their kids on her blog who share true Mama/Kiddo Style and real honest views on motherhood.
I told her she had to put her hand up for the kite to fly hahahaha. I should have been more specific, but this just makes me happy.
Closer… 🙂
And then SUCCESS!! (kind of ;))
On me…
And….I’m DYING over the enthusiasm on the next one!!!!! It totally reminds me of that picture where the top image is “What I think look like flying a kite” and the bottom image is this “What I really look like flying a kite!” hahaha.
