Mommy Manicure (take 2)

I want to preface this post by saying this is NOT a sponsored post (although, I wish it were haha!)  I just love this nail polish!

How many mama’s run out of time when they get the long awaited date night or Mama’s night out?

ALL HANDS ARE RAISED!!

I did a post over a year and a half ago (WHAT?!) about using Sally Hansens Miracle Gel nail polish.  It’s great for an in home nail polish that lasts longer than normal, but it’s still a process!  A process that most days, I just don’t have time for!  What I do have time for?  About 2-3 minutes!  Which, is all this Sally Hansen Ista-Dri nail polish takes!

I literally did my nails 5 minutes before I took the pictures for  this post.  I ran out to take the images with no smudges, because one coat, 60 seconds to dry!blog-sally-hansen-insta-dri-cocoa-a-go-go-1 Granted, if you only do one coat (like I did above), it only lasts about a day before chipping.  But, honestly, I don’t think I’ve ever had a professional non gel manicure last more than one or two days before chipping, so total win.

With this polish, if you do a 2nd coat the next day (again…another 2-3 minutes!), you get another day out of it.  Pictured below-my 2nd day.blog-sally-hansen-insta-dri-cocoa-a-go-go-2 blog-sally-hansen-insta-dri-cocoa-a-go-go-3 The color I used.  Cocoa A Go Go.  I’m a total sucker for nail polish names.  Tell me I’m not alone?blog-sally-hansen-insta-dri-cocoa-a-go-go-4

Little White Dress + Boots (Yes, after Labor Day!!)

I’ve never been one to adhere to the “No White After Labor Day” rule.  I say wear white all the time!  It’s so versatile, and there’s something about crisp white clothing that makes me feel so good!

Granted…they don’t stay crisp and clean for very long, but that’s what Oxyclean is for haha.

I actually scored this dress new with tags ($145!) at Goodwill a few years ago for $8, but totally forgot I had it!  Yes, I’m a pack rat, and can go shopping in my own closet.  I have issues, but I certainly wasn’t mad about finding this gem!blog-terra-nostra-white-dress-aquatalia-boots-1 blog-terra-nostra-white-dress-aquatalia-boots-2 blog-terra-nostra-white-dress-aquatalia-boots-3 blog-terra-nostra-white-dress-aquatalia-boots-4 blog-terra-nostra-white-dress-aquatalia-boots-5My new favorite picture of the two of us!!blog-terra-nostra-white-dress-aquatalia-boots-6blog-gapkids-floral-dress-pink-saltwater-sandals-1 The many poses of Maya…blog-gapkids-floral-dress-pink-saltwater-sandals-2 blog-gapkids-floral-dress-pink-saltwater-sandals-3 I can’t even handle this next one!  I want to EAT HER UP!!!blog-gapkids-floral-dress-pink-saltwater-sandals-4 “Mommy, look!  I’m an old lady!!” haha.blog-gapkids-floral-dress-pink-saltwater-sandals-5 blog-gapkids-floral-dress-pink-saltwater-sandals-6The Huz was out of town for the first part of last week, and I vowed to get some sunset shots of us while he was gone.  Well…we missed it the first few nights, but got them this evening!  Actually, I really wanted the sun poking through the trees (which we got), but after we left the park, I had to get out of the car and grab this shot too… So lucky to live where we do!blog-west-seattle-sunset

Wool Hat + White Button Down + Crop Flares + Booties (I can smell fall!)

We are in that time of year where one week it’s in the 90’s (say WHAT?  Shoot me…), but then…we’ll have a cooler morning here and there, and this week RAIN!  It’s one of the many things I love about Seattle.  We have definite weather changes, and with that comes variety in our wardrobe choices-yay!!  I’m getting excited to wear booties again, so I broke them out for a test run the other day with my favorite cut of jeans-crop flares!  Oh, and a wool hat, because I hadn’t washed my hair in…well, a few days. 😉blog-nordstrom-wool-hat-alara-white-button-down-j-brand-gigi-crop-flare-sam-edelman-petty-booties-1 blog-nordstrom-wool-hat-alara-white-button-down-j-brand-gigi-crop-flare-sam-edelman-petty-booties-2 blog-nordstrom-wool-hat-alara-white-button-down-j-brand-gigi-crop-flare-sam-edelman-petty-booties-3 Oh, and her little hand gripping my hair…DYING!

Black jumpsuits for the win! (date night)

Whenever the Huz and I get a date night, it’s usually last minute.  We are SO fortunate to have my parents that live only a few blocks away, and if they are in town they are always up for a last minute

“Hey!  So…tomorrow, we were thinking of squeezing in night to ourselves”

Yes, I KNOW how lucky I am!!!

But, because of the short notice planning on our part, I rarely have time to think about what I want to wear!  I decided to get ahead of the game, and think about what I wanted to wear the morning after I asked my parents (aka, the day of the date night haha)  I knew that even if I had my outfit all planned out, there was NO way I’d have time to photograph it before we went out! (I was SO RIGHT!!), so I bribed Maya to go outside for a few minutes in the morning to take some pictures.  All it took was me drawing a picture for her.  It’s her newest obsession.  She finds an image on the iPad, I draw it, she colors it in and cuts it out.  On repeat FOR HOURS!! 🙂Blog Theory Lortan Jumpsuit Zara Leopard Tie Up Sandals-1Blog Theory Lortan Jumpsuit Zara Leopard Tie Up Sandals-2 Right before we went outside, Maya took my clutch and said she wanted to put a few things inside for me! Fringe Crop Top + Levi’s Cut offs + …Hunter Boots? (Blackberry Picking take 2!)

I know some people can rock boots with cut offs, and I LOVE it on them…but the only way I felt ok wearing this was because we were going blackberry picking again.  The last time we went, my ankles got all scraped up!  So, I planned ahead this time!

What I didn’t quite plan for was that it would be 90 degrees in the SUN!

SEATTLE, WHAT IS UP?!?!?

We went a little earlier this time, because we were having people over for dinner, so the sun hadn’t set behind the trees yet.  Needless to say, I was SWEATING LIKE A PIG!  (BTW, do pigs even sweat??)

Hat + Dress + Coated Jeggings + Booties (All Black for the WIN!)

We’ve been having really hot days here (ok, for Seattle getting into the upper 80’s and breaking 90’s is HOT!), but…randomly we’ve been having a few super cool foggy mornings!  Of course Maya had soccer camp all this week, that we needed to leave at 8:30am for, so no location shoots were possible.  BUT…one morning, I decided to run outside and try and get a few shots in the fog.  Of course it took us 30+ minutes for me to convince (bribe) Maya to go outside, to throw something on really quick, and gather all the gear and go.  By that time, most of the fog had dissipated, but…we got a few shots with it!Blog HM Hat 28Twelve Black Dress Helmut Lang 67 Booties-1And, when you are just running out the door without a shower, hats are an easy fix! A quick trip to Whistler…

Well, if you read this post, you know already that our trip to Whistler almost ended before it began!  After a whirlwind 18 hours, a shiny new passport, and a departure date 6.5 hours later than anticipated…we were off!

Since it was going to be such a quick trip (only one full day and then Sunday morning for a few hours), I almost didn’t bring my camera.  I really wanted to make sure I was enjoying the moment vs trying to capture it.  It’s a hard balance, but I also knew that I’d feel like I was missing a limb if I didn’t bring it.  So, I compromised and decided to just bring one lens.

BIG COMPROMISE!  haha.

I did take a lot of videos and linked to a few throughout.  Sorry in advance for my annoying laugh and voice!

We ended up getting into Whistler around 9:30pm.  If you’ve ever been (and come from the PNW or Vancouver), you know that while the drive there is STUNNING, the roads are very curvy, and Canadians drive over the speed limit!  And…I say this as an admitted lead foot, who’s married to even more of a lead foot!

All that said…note to self.  Don’t give your toddler a movie to watch in the back seat on a very long curvy freeway.  ESPECIALLY after she’s eaten a garlic kale salad (the one time in my life I curse the fact that my 4 year old LOVES kale salads!)… Need I say more?  ;{

Thankfully there was a washer and dryer on our floor!  And…a bath!

But…it did take a while to wind down after all that…(video here) 🙂

Blog WhislterWe stayed at the Westin Resort & Spa, which is located right in the heart of Whistler Village, and as a FYI, we never once got our car out of the garage the entire time-SCORE!

The next day we got up bright and early, had breakfast at our hotel, and then walked over to the gondola that’s only a few minutes walk away.  We really wanted to take Maya on the Peak to Peak Gondola.

You catch the first gondola in the village, and then ride it up to the top of Whistler Blackcomb.  Since it was summer, and not as busy, we got a gondola to ourselves going up… Blog Whistler 8-2016-1While, there’s no snow, there are a ton of dirt trails and a LOT of dirt bike riders.  It was super impressive to watch from the gondola!  They even do lessons, just like ski lessons! Then we got ready to go out to dinner.  Oddly, I didn’t take any pics!  SAY WHAT!???

I took a TON of videos-some of which can be seen here, (sorry about my annoying laugh and voice!).

Here’s a few from my phone…

Ummmmm, are you kidding me??!!!  She LOVED THIS, and went on it twice!

I went on, and went about half this high haha.  BUT…I did backward flips, so that counts for something, right?  At 42!  RIGHT?!  Obviously, I’m still feeling a little silly that my 4 year old bounced higher than I did… ;(Blog Family Adventure Zone-1 This…she wasn’t so great at, but this guy was super nice and rode on it with her to avoid crashing every 3 seconds 😉Blog Family Adventure Zone-2Sadly, after three hours, we had to call it quits and head back.  I will also say that they have a little farmer’s market there and we got some delicious fruit before we left!

Here’s one last picture I took with my phone as we were driving home…seriously, GORGEOUS!

Blog Whistler DriveWhile it was a very short visit, it did the job of recharging our batteries a bit, and of course…celebrating our anniversary 🙂

If you’ve never been to Whistler, I HIGHLY recommend it.  It’s amazing both in the winter and summer, and we can’t wait for our next trip!
