All Black… Holiday Party Outfit option #2

I flew down to Austin yesterday to meet up with my husband, who works there for half the week.  His company holiday party is tonight, and this is one of the options I brought with me. The romper I thought about wearing ended up getting nixed because while it’s been warm here during the day, it’s been dipping down into the 30’s and 40’s at night-BRRRR!!!!

So….option 2.  You can never go wrong with all black!Blog Doma Leather MK2K DL1961 River Pedro Garcia Booties-1 Blog Doma Leather MK2K DL1961 River Pedro Garcia Booties-2Envision dozens of cars driving past me right now…AWKWARD 😉 Blog Doma Leather MK2K DL1961 River Pedro Garcia Booties-3 Blog Doma Leather MK2K DL1961 River Pedro Garcia Booties-4 Blog Doma Leather MK2K DL1961 River Pedro Garcia Booties-5 On me…

I took these on a pretty busy street a few blocks away from my house while Maya was in school.  I gave myself 10 minutes, because I had to get back to pick her up.  In those 10 minutes in addition to the dozens of cars driving by were people walking their dogs.  NO…I didn’t feel like a big nerd at ALL!!!! 😉
Oh, and truth be told.  I brought even ANOTHER option, because I’m wondering if this is going to be too dressy…sigh.Blog outtake

Combating the cold gray skies, with color…

We walk down by the beach almost every morning, but the past few mornings the 20ish degree weather with 15-20 mph winds has made that not sound so fun.  Today, we went down there later in the afternoon after it had warmed up (to a whopping 26) for a little bit to chase seagulls and watch the ferries… Blog Doma Leather Jacket 360 Cashmere J Brand-1 Blog Doma Leather Jacket 360 Cashmere J Brand-2 Blog Doma Leather Jacket 360 Cashmere J Brand-3 Blog Doma Leather Jacket 360 Cashmere J Brand-4 Blog Doma Leather Jacket 360 Cashmere J Brand-5 Blog Doma Leather Jacket 360 Cashmere J Brand-6 Blog Doma Leather Jacket 360 Cashmere J Brand-7She’s obsessed with seagulls.  Or, any bird for that matter… Blog Doma Leather Jacket 360 Cashmere J Brand-8I scored this faux leather jacket last summer for less than $5, and I’ve been DYING for her to fit into it.  It’s still a little big, but oh well.  SO cute 🙂 Blog Doma Leather Jacket 360 Cashmere J Brand-9 Blog Doma Leather Jacket 360 Cashmere J Brand-10 Blog Doma Leather Jacket 360 Cashmere J Brand-11 Blog Doma Leather Jacket 360 Cashmere J Brand-12On me…

I SO wish I had gotten a picture of Maya when I went to get her out of the car.  I had given her a PB&J wrap to eat while I was taking my pictures.  She opened it up, licked out all the PB&J, and then ate the wrap.  Do I need to tell you that peanut butter and jam were EVERYWHERE??  Thankfully it wiped right off the faux leather jacket, and her jeans were dark!

Another pair of Boyfriend Jeans…and a pop of color.

 Blog Doma Zara Current Elliott Boyfriend Coach-1 Blog Doma Zara Current Elliott Boyfriend Coach-2My hunt for the perfect boyfriend jean continues.  Current Elliott is known for theirs, so when I found them at Funky Janes for $18 (I used my credit for items dropped off-so FREE TO ME!), I had to try them.  They still have a bit of the saggy butt look (not a fan!), but again…they are SO comfortable, that I’m willing to overlook that.  We went to a birthday party today, so I knew I would be bending down/sitting/running around.  I wanted something that would be comfortable, and these definitely fit the bill. Little Boogaweezin SS ’14 Style Ambassador Search + a TON of personal ramblings… :}

I’ve never been much of a New Year’s Resolution kind of person.  The last time I did one though, was 6 years ago when I said that my one effort in “dating” {UGH!!} was going to be that I would accept the offer from anyone that wanted to set me up.  Up until that point, I’d always just said “Oh….uh, well, um, that’s nice”  Yet quickly changed the subject and NEVER.SPOKE.OF.IT.AGAIN.  I kid you not.  Two weeks later I was set up with the Huz.  SO, maybe I should do them more often, no?

THIS year, I said I was going to make a conscious effort to step out of my comfort zone more.  I mean, I’m turning 40, why NOT??!!  Just doing this blog is TOTALLY stepping outside of my comfort zone (thank you Esther for kicking my arse into doing it!).  Granted, I have only shared it with a few of my closest friends hahaha, but whatever.

So, fast forward to me REALLY stepping out of my comfort zone.  Little Boogaweezin is an online store/blog that caters to fashionable moms and babes (uh, LOVE that!!).  I originally stumbled upon their blog and found the “Revamped Mom Uniform”.  I poured through all of them, visited the mommy blogs, and was hooked.  Then I looked at their store.  ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!  They have this perfect vintage look to them, and then you stop to read what’s written on them….SO COOL!

Seriously, does this not almost bring tears to your eyes (ok, maybe only if you’re a mom haha)

Dear Big MeIf you can’t read it, it says “dear big me, i can’t wait to see who I become one day-the little me”

GAH!!!!

I’m following them on Instagram, and they announce that they are looking for a mother and daughter Style Ambassador for their Spring/Summer ’14 line.  NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS would I enter anything like that….before.  Then it hits me.  I LOVE the “Revamped Mom Uniform”.  One of the big reasons I wanted to do this blog was to show that a 40 year old, work from home mom could get out of her sweats and look decent.  So, I would kick myself if I didn’t at least enter!  At this point, I don’t even care if we get chosen (ok, bit of a white lie :}), I’m just so glad I actually did it.  This is what we submitted…StyleAmbassadorIt was relatively easy doing this first little collage (don’t kid yourself I had a few glasses of wine before I hit “ok” on the posting!)  Then a few days went by and I thought.  Holy &$%.  On the off chance we get chosen, could I style their pieces, and more importantly photograph them NOT on the sidewalk in front of our house/in the alleys blocks from our house??  I didn’t want to be a complete a-hole that just enters random drawings willy nilly in the hopes of getting free stuff-BARF!!  I knew I had to buy something.  I was looking and loving EVERYTHING I was seeing, and then because I’m me (!!!) I checked out the sale button and found the PERFECT TANK!!!!  Sadly, it’s sold out now, but maaaaaybe it will be back and in different styles???Little Boogaweezin TankA)  It’s almost our logo!!!!  B) My dad has called me Beez for I don’t even know how long.  Like, doesn’t call me Lauren….ever?  Maybe he’ll comment and tell me 🙂  That morphed into LMB when I had Maya “Little Mama Beez”, so this was just about perfect.  All they had left was a XS, but I bought it immediately thinking I could either squeeze myself into it or have it be a tunic for Maya.  Happy to say it fit me!  Yay for having no boobies!!  And…that leads us to the actual blog post.  PHEW! 🙂  We took the tripod on a little field trip.  It was a MIRACLE that it wasn’t raining sideways, but…there were 20mph winds.  Can we just pretend I hired a wind machine?? 🙂Blog Doma Leather Jacket Little Boogaweezin J Brand Coach Slip ons-1 Blog Doma Leather Jacket Little Boogaweezin J Brand Coach Slip ons-2 Blog Doma Leather Jacket Little Boogaweezin J Brand Coach Slip ons-3 Blog Doma Leather Jacket Little Boogaweezin J Brand Coach Slip ons-4 Blog Doma Leather Jacket Little Boogaweezin J Brand Coach Slip ons-5 Blog Doma Leather Jacket Little Boogaweezin J Brand Coach Slip ons-6 Blog Doma Leather Jacket Little Boogaweezin J Brand Coach Slip ons-7There was no looking at me with all the puddles we found… Blog Doma Leather Jacket Little Boogaweezin J Brand Coach Slip ons-8 Blog Doma Leather Jacket Little Boogaweezin J Brand Coach Slip ons-9Seriously love this next one.  PUDDLE!!! Someone got her first bike!

Maya has been obsessed with bikes.  Every time she sees one in the neighborhood, she wants to get on it.  Every time she sees someone riding by “a-cycle!  A-CYCLE!”  So…that was her big present for Christmas.  She got her helmet first, and put it on right away “A-CYCLE!!”  She knew!  The funniest part about these next images, are that they are in the order in which they happened, yet…completely backwards to how they probably should have happened!

She got on it right away and started scooting…Blog Doma Leather Jacket J Brand Joie Boots-1Then, realized she should probably be scared and wanted me to hold her hand.  The Huz got these next few. Daring to Wear J Brand Coated Denim…

I have been obsessed with the coated denim trend.  I’ve also been a little obsessed with animal print.  Usually, I’d pick one trend or the other to avoid overkill, but when I saw these, I had to have them!  My fear…am I too old to pull it off -39 is the new 29 right?? haha.  Anywho, I stalked these on eBay and finally pulled the trigger when I got a smoking deal.  Then…I waited for an occasion to come up where I could wear them!  When one of my best friend’s birthday came around, I knew that a girl’s night would be the perfect occasion to test them out on!

Added bonus?  They are stretchy, but are a thick material which basically makes them like jean spanx (but in a good way!)
