I managed to find a tiny break in the weather where it wasn’t raining, and we ran outside to take these and go for a walk around the neighborhood. About halfway through it started sprinkling again… Ugh, what am I going to do for the next 4 months??
Sometimes the classics are best. You can never go wrong with a white button down shirt, jeans, and boots!
OMG. When I capture these smiles, my heart just melts in a puddle on the floor. She really is such a happy kid. SO lucky…
And can we talk about how I could spend HOURS to make my hair look like that, and yet it never would. Sigh…
On me…
Neutral Shades…
I bet you’re thinking…”I think I’ve seen that outfit recently…?” Ok, yes. It’s the oatmeal version of the Zara Boyfriend sweater that I wore last week. I LOVE IT! Am I the only one that buys things in multiple colors when you find something you love? Especially if it’s on sale?! Anyway. So comfy, and I love the elbow patches.
Side note-don’t you just want to squeeze her (obviously, I do!)?? Since I take all these with a self timer, I don’t really know what she’s doing until later. GAH!! I could just eat her up.
On me…
Stripes + Faux Fur On the two of us…
I’m pretty sure it’s obvious, but I am so obsessed with stripes! The “don’t wear horizontal stripes” is for sure a rule to break. Everyone can! Little hints of it peeking out of layering…LOVE!!! I’m also a bit obsessed with the faux fur trend, but have only really had the nerve to try it out on Maya (my little fashion guinea pig :})
See the below expression? That would be me awkwardly trying to talk to a neighbor that came out while the self timer was going off. Hey, I have a limited window of Maya snacking in the wagon. I’ve got to keep this moving! 🙂 He eventually went back inside…
And THIS is why I am so thankful I’m doing this blog. Are you kidding me with that smile? LOVE HER! In her hand is a doll from LinaMarieDolls. They are SO CUTE (sorry, I didn’t get a better picture of the doll, but getting Maya to “show me the doll” wasn’t exactly working. I won it in a cut throat auction, and have never been so glad to spend more than retail price on anything! 🙂 It’s all for a good cause, right? She has SO many other cute creations!! I foresee our house being overrun by them… 🙂
I see so many other bloggers talking about “reality” vs “blogging reality”. I admit. I’m only posting pictures that look good. Where me and Maya look happy. Duh. Honestly, I’m so lucky. Maya really is a happy kid, but I HAD to put these in here. These are SO going to be my teenage years…
This is such a blogger pose below… And remember this sweater in red? YES, I found it in another thrift store in cream. Same “too big” size! This one was $1.50. SCORE!!
Now, back to reality. “I’m jumping!!”
Lastly. Wow, I’m rambling a LOT in this post. I’m not sure if any of you care about coats, but I’m thinking with the crazy weather in the US, the answer is yes?! I LOVE vintage coats. They are a fraction of the cost, look totally current (most designers base their looks on vintage coats), and nobody else will have them (WIN!!). All around SCORE as far as I’m concerned!! I haven’t really blogged much about outerwear, but I thought I might at the end for those that care. Pretty sure I got this coat for less than $20. It’s been a while…
On me…
And I’m back to my normal uniform…
It was fun to shake it up and wear something different, but I quickly fell back into my routine of sweater + skinny jeans + comfy shoes… Sometimes I miss wearing heels. Ok, let’s be honest, I miss having longer legs and being able to wear non hemmed jeans… Can’t easily give Maya a pony ride in heels, though!
LOVE the back of this sweater! I may or may not have gotten it in another color too, but how could I not at $15?? So fun! :}
Dancing!

Simple Island Breakfast
We just spent a few weeks on the beautiful island of Kauai eating papayas and avocados every day for breakfast. Papaya is very sweet and is beautifully balanced with the tartness of lime juice. Here’s my favorite way to eat and serve papaya – with lime and coconut milk! Aloha! 🙂
Ingredients
- Fresh papaya (you’ll know it’s ripe when the skin starts to get yellow and the fruit is soft)
- Fresh squeezed lime
- Coconut milk (from a can)
Directions
- Cut papaya in half lengthwise and scoop out and discard seeds
- With a spoon or knife, carve some papaya chunks from the sides
- Top with plenty of fresh squeezed lime juice and coconut milk
Trouser Jeans + A Statement Jacket
Well, I did it. I got out of my skinny jeans!
Truthfully, I took the boots off right after these pictures in favor of a more comfy shoe, BUT…I did wear the trouser jeans for the rest of the day 🙂
It was SO windy!! My tripod was ok, but the stand I use to focus on kept blowing over!
I love the color of this jacket! Normally, my “pop of color” is in my shoes or belt. This is a little bold for me, but 2014 is going to be about stepping outside of my comfort zone!
On me…
Chunky Knit + Destroyed Skinny Jeans (Again…)
I feel like I’m in a bit of a rut… I want to shake it up, but every day I reach for my old stand by’s. Sweaters + Skinny Jeans + (comfortable shoes). I vow to shake it up soon! Or at least think about it 🙂

Happy New Year!
I hope everyone had a fun and safe New Years! I did not make it til midnight (shocking), but we did have a pretty fun dance party at home 🙂
If you are ever wondering what I’m smiling at off to the side… 🙂
I tried the sleeves rolled down too on this jacket, but I like them rolled. Yes? No?
And who needs a park? Maya could run up and down our neighbors driveway all day.

On me…
If we were going out for New Years Eve… (we’re not :))
I couldn’t even tell you the last time I stayed up til midnight on New Year’s Eve. Wow…I sound old 😦 It’s been even longer since I went out. It just get’s so crazy out there, and my days of dancing til 2:00 am are few and far between.
That said. I thought it would be fun to dress up as if we were going out! Isn’t that the best part??
This is Maya’s “Happy New Year!!”
As a side note. If I were really going out, I probably wouldn’t wear my hair like this, but our power was out for 4 hours this morning and it was the best I could do 🙂
I’ve been dying to wear these faux leather pants, but had no where to wear them. In front of my house seemed perfect haha.
I love this vintage coat. It even is signed on the lining by the woman who made it. How cute is that?
It has a fun sash too…
The best part of Maya’s outfit? That sweater! I found it at a thrift store in the kids section, but it’s really a woman’s wool sweater that got washed, dried, and shrunk! It fits Maya perfectly though haha. So…if you happen to shrink a sweater, try it on your toddler 😉
Hope everyone has a fun and safe New Year!
On me…
Oversized sweaters + Boots + Hugs (duh)
The best part of starting this blog (for me!) is that it made me get in front of the camera with Maya almost every day vs just being behind it! I always wanted to figure out how to take pics with her using my tripod and self timer, but never got around to trying…until we started this blog. Documenting these memories of us will be priceless…
I have been coveting this sweater from Zara for months! When it went on sale, I couldn’t help myself! Oh, and…I may have gotten it in another color too :}

Supermom Tip-Don’t be afraid to buy up a few sizes on sweaters if you get a good deal. This sweater was $1, but a 4T. It became a tunic-win!
