Or something along those lines, no?? IF, you were around to watch “The Field of Dreams” in 1989! If not…well, then…I’m old. All that to say. At the end of each season, I think we are all itching to wear the next thing. In spring, it’s florals, shorts, SANDALS, cropped denim, skirts (eh, maybe not for me), CUT OFFS! Ok, the list goes on. As well it does in the fall when we are all itching to bundle up and be cozy! Those days are GONE now, tough!
Our weather has been all over the board lately, which is what it usually is in the last days of winter/first days of spring. One minute, it’s super sunny and in the 60’s, and then you have 15-20 mph winds and it’s pouring sideways!!
This day was one of those in between days. So, I busted out a floral top (that I’m sure nobody is used to me wearing!) and cropped denim. Paired with clogs, which I’ve been questioned about, but…comfort and added height??? WIN, in my book!
I’m kind of obsessed with cropped denim lately, and the more flare I can get the better. These…not as flared as I wanted, but since they are my favorite denim, I’ll wear them no matter what!
I will add that the name “High Rise Straight” is totally misleading. Slightly ok on the straight (I’d lean more towards calling them skinny, but I think the pair I bought had been hemmed), but in no way are they high rise. 8″ rise is not high (their website says 8.75, and Nordstrom Rack says 11″ UM…what??!!! NO! BUT…I forgive them, because all of their jeans are amazing no matter what.
I was on the fence on the asymmetrical design of this top. I’m usually all for “out of the ordinary” when it comes to design, and…I’m glad I went for it. Love the sides of this top!
Soooooo, this was one of those days that Maya was NOT in the mood. AT FIRST. I asked her if she wanted to go play somewhere, and she had a most definitive “NO!”
In her defense, she had been to preschool in the morning, and then we went to gymnastics “free play” in the afternoon.
And…. this is what she wore to gymnastics free play. I always let her pick what she wants to wear. At this point, that is the going rule always. But…for free play gymnastics, she has the option of her normal leotard (mandatory for actual class), or tights and a top. Today, she chose ALL PINK. I am really not much of a pink gal, but Maya….she’s ALL IN! I swear, she looks like a Pepto Bismol bottle some days, and…I just let it go. Because, if she’s happy, I’m happy. Which…took a while, and if I’m honest, isn’t completely true haha. 😉
Her hair too. It was down for gymnastics, and then half way through, she was like…
“MOM!!! I’m SOOOO HOT!!
So, 45 second updo to the rescue, and I love it! You will be seeing it again 🙂
Oh, and that stamp on her neck? Yeah…they get stamps at the end of class, and Maya always wants them on the back of her neck, forehead, feet, and now…neck. I feel like maybe the fact that I have tattoos might bite me in the ass… ;}
I can’t even tell you how much I love this next image. GAH! She is just too freaking sweet.
On me…
Like…this.
And, I’ll just file this look under “things to expect in the teenage years….”

Classic Maya… 😉

Riiiiiiight about now, it started raining. Maya’s in this stage where she does NOT like to get her hair wet. As long as she has a hood or an umbrella, she’s totally fine. But she was having NO MORE pictures after this….
So, we headed over to my parents. This is the only real picture I got of her adorable dress ;{
Because…hahaha. Clearly…not in the mood.
After we were leaving, she did her butt dance for them, which always makes her happy 🙂
On me…

We have a new game where Maya stands behind me, and then I spin around and catch her. It really isn’t a game, but she cracks up endlessly, so…there you go. It’s our game!
I mean….that light shining down on her? LOVE!!!
We tried doing bubbles for a bit, but it was still pretty windy, and they all just flew away so fast!

On me…
And, of course…totally out of focus, because…that’s how the day went, BUT…I’ve been dying for these shoes to finally fit her!!
No happy go lucky Maya. She got into my bag and found her snack the minute we got there. She’s trying to open it in the shot above, which is why the shot is blurry. I said she could have it a little later after we played for a bit, but of course…she tried to open it on her own, and…spilled everywhere. There is no 5 second rule here….
Of course crows and seagulls came!
And at first, she thought it was cool…
On me…
On me…
(all pictures taken with a self timer/shutter release and tripod, except ones of Maya :))
It actually stopped raining too, so I paired it with a super comfy cashmere cardigan and got to skip the coat!
But…I HAD to show the back. LOVE!!! It’s the tease of an open back, but you can still wear a normal bra-yay!!
I wasn’t sure if Maya would even wear this jacket when I scored it thrifting, but she loves it!
Her new thing…. 😉
I can’t even… 🙂
On me…
Or, one of the many times someone walks by with their dog, and asks what the heck I’m doing haha. AWKWARD!
I love this next one. It totally looks beautifully posed. Clearly…it wasn’t 😉
Of course, she had requested temporary tattoos on her a few days before. I tried wiping them off, but is there anything more authentic on a 4 year old??!
So her…jumping of anything and everything!
I seriously love Seattle on days like this…
Oddly, this next one is one of my favorites…
And that smile-DYING!!

And then…whatever, I’ll just embrace the water.
And…I knew this would happen eventually! I’m just glad it didn’t happen in the first 5 minutes, like it usually does ;}
If you don’t already get it, go get the
Um….or this 😉
Although…I do love this. Even if she’s rolling in a pile of weeds! We’ll just call them wildflowers 😉 Seriously, I’m pretty sure Seattle is the only beach that has patches of “wildflowers” here and there-love it!
I asked my mom if she wanted to come with us. A lot of times the minute Maya’s feet hit the sand, she’s OFF!! And…into the water. I wanted to try and get a few pictures before all that happened, so I brought my secret weapon-Meme!! She never runs away from Meme 🙂
