This combo can only mean one thing…I did NOT have Maya with me haha.
I was shooting head shots for a friend, and jumped at the chance to wear white jeans and heels!

This combo can only mean one thing…I did NOT have Maya with me haha.
I was shooting head shots for a friend, and jumped at the chance to wear white jeans and heels!

On me…

I had a corporate shoot last week, so that means I can wear something a little nicer.
AND…when I do head shots (that don’t last all day!!), I like to wear heels. It’s always good to be taller than your subject, and with 4″ heels, I’m 6 feet tall.
NOT really doable unless it’s a wedge!! A platform wedge, that is 🙂
I still hadn’t figured out my new tripod, so my mom was nice enough to snap these of me when I came over to pick up Maya 🙂

And after that puddle….shoes came off 😉
Literally, right before this, Maya had been saying “NO PICTURES!!!”
So…I said that I really wanted to take a picture of this pretty flower.
She proceeded to plop down and… 😉
I WIN!!! 🙂
On me…

Funny thing…I got asked if I was going somewhere special as I was leaving the gym.
Um…nope, just lazy.
So funny that for me…dresses usually don’t equal me dressing up, the equal me being lazy. I only have to think of ONE thing to put on haha. Anyone else??

My mom took all of the images of me and me with Maya because my car got broken into, and they took my tripod. I mean, WHO steals a tripod??!! But…they left the more expensive flash that I randomly had left in one of the seat pockets, so I guess I’ll just say thank you. In any case…I took some of my mom with Maya too, and this is now one of my new favorites of them!
And because I loved it so much, I wanted to see if my mom could get one of me and Maya like this. BUT…if there is one thing I know as a photographer. You can very rarely replicate an image that you want. BUT…love these too 🙂
On me…
And…putting leaves on my head is way more fun than giving me a kiss. 😉
So, both in fall and spring, you go back and forth between hot and cold days. Honestly, those are my favorite seasons! You get to hold onto the season you aren’t quite ready to let go on, but celebrate the new season!
Truth be told, I took some images of me without the sweater earlier while Maya was in school, but scrapped them because I liked the images later in the day with us together down by the beach. BUT…just know, I had a tank top on earlier haha.
In Seattle, we still have a few cold and rainy days ahead of us. We’ve had some random 60-70 degree days, but today…super rainy and cold!
She thought it was hilarious to stand here and wait for the waves to come splashing on her!
It’s spring break, and I have a lot of work to catch up on, so…no links for clothing (sorry!)
On me…

Oddly, enough, I have no problem wearing white denim in the winter, but light wash denim just screams spring and summer to me! Add in a lightweight boho top and espadrilles…SO ready for summer!!!
We had just been to a birthday party earlier (face paint below explained!), and then ran a few errands afterwards. Maya fell asleep in the car, so I went back and grabbed my camera with the thought of grabbing a few pictures of me, because I’ve been eyeing this location. She woke up after a bit.
She takes a little while to wake up (and she comes by that honestly!!)
And then….!!
I can’t even… That face! And, the face painting. Just kills me.

On me…
It’s hard waking up…
Ok, let’s just be honest. I didn’t take this from day to night, but…I want to!!!
I scored this dress on eBay NEW for $32 (new was around $350!) a while ago, and I’m itching to wear it. I think it could go from day to night easily, but really I’m wanting to wear it on a date night!! BUT…as a working mom, you have to think “day to night”, because you don’t always have a lot of time to transition!
So…enter the shirt dress!
And can we talk about comfy?? Also a WIN!!
And…throw on some booties and a leather jacket-DATE NIGHT!
And…a neighbor walking by with her dog? Don’t mind me…

On me…

It got up into the upper 60’s, and rumor had it that it hit 70 here in Seattle last week! It was SO gorgeous! Seattle in the spring and summer is like no other. Really, there is no need to go on vacation! Well, except to escape the daily grind. BUT…alas. We just enjoyed the sunshine!
Yes, she’s sticking her tongue out at me ha!
This is her “flexing her muscles” haha.
Literally, NO dog can go past us without Maya wanting to pet them. And then the next question…”Do you have any treats I can give them?” She loves dogs!
Gymnastics balancing in full force, but cannot let go of pine cone 😉

On me…
Hmmmm, think she’s done? 😉

It had been raining off an on most of Easter Day for us. To tell the truth, this was the first year we didn’t do any kind of Egg hunt. Maya never asked, and one of her best friends had a birthday party on Saturday (when most of the neighborhood community hunts were) so… Not sure if I should chalk that up as a mom fail, or a mom win, because…less candy!
We did make a delicious Lemon Pudding Cakes, and honestly, I think she had more fun making those. Or so I’m telling myself!!
ANYWAYS. My parents came over for dinner, and afterwards, there was a break in the rain! I asked my mom if she wanted to go out and take a few pics, and thankfully the answer is almost always yes! Like Mother, like daughter. Ok, I take it up a notch, but whatever.
Oh, and did I mention these were after dinner….and a couple glasses of wine? 😉
I get clients all the time that worry about double chins etc. Um…I say if you are laughing and happy-WHO CARES!
Maya was in RARE form!! Seriously, cracking us both up-as always.
Loooooove this next one. Her looking back up at me…dying.
And then…. a little dance off?
I totally love this one, except for the fact that my head looks GINORMOUS!??
Oh, well. Still love it. Ok, really…love her 🙂
I triiiiiiiiied to take that gum wrapper out of her hands. She’s obsessed with gum. I kid you not, she probably has 5-6 pieces a day (sugar free!). And she loves to hold onto the wrapper. So, she can spit it out after 10 minutes and give it back to me haha 😉
She loooooves her Meme!!
On me…

So, one of my favorite things about thrifting is being able to try trends that you aren’t quite sure about. You aren’t throwing away a ton of money, and if you end up not liking it…no big deal! I’ve been randomly obsessed with denim pencil skirts lately….on other people.
I’m going to just mark this one down as “Tried it, but not meant for me!!””
I had hopes that maybe this skirt could be worn on a date night with the Huz, but I don’t see that happening!! The slit…SO high. And, I just felt totally uncomfortable the entire time I wore it! Yet, I know on someone else it would be totally sexy!
SO…truth be told, I took the shots above the morning after the ones below. As in no shower, no make up, puffy eyes…yet, when I had 10 free minutes (forgive me)!!!! BECAUSE…I attempted to take shots the night before, and no go. Honestly, I was just going to scrap the post, but I thought, NO! I thought this might work, and it didn’t. Someone else might think it does. SO…I’m posting anyways.
These next shots-the night before the ones above, Maya was in a mood, and didn’t want to take pictures. BUT…it was a gorgeous night! SO….I gave her my phone with the thought that I would just snap a few pictures of this outfit just to see. So many times I’m not really sure about an outfit until I take pictures of it. Then, I either wear it over and over, or think…
“OMG!!! I am NEVER wearing that again!!!”
Obviously, it’s clear which category this outfit fell into.
AND…in this case, SO not upset about Maya not letting me take pictures of it haha.
Then… She suddenly snapped out of her funk and wanted to play! Which…is great, but can you just imagine for a second me climbing down a rocky path to follow her in this outfit??!! With my camera??! The entire time, I thought I was only going to snap a few of just me!
But…totally glad to take pictures of Maya having fun!
We’ve been to/I’ve talked about this particular beach before. It’s ever changing. People bring things here and there, and it’s always a surprise as to what you will find. She found some dinosaurs this time, and was in heaven. She loooooves dinosaurs!!
Obviously, we leave everything right where it is for the next people to enjoy 🙂
And of course, I brought bubbles. Those are always my fall back 😉
Because… 🙂
And then.
Watching the sun go down….
On me…

Or something along those lines, no?? IF, you were around to watch “The Field of Dreams” in 1989! If not…well, then…I’m old. All that to say. At the end of each season, I think we are all itching to wear the next thing. In spring, it’s florals, shorts, SANDALS, cropped denim, skirts (eh, maybe not for me), CUT OFFS! Ok, the list goes on. As well it does in the fall when we are all itching to bundle up and be cozy! Those days are GONE now, tough!
Our weather has been all over the board lately, which is what it usually is in the last days of winter/first days of spring. One minute, it’s super sunny and in the 60’s, and then you have 15-20 mph winds and it’s pouring sideways!!
This day was one of those in between days. So, I busted out a floral top (that I’m sure nobody is used to me wearing!) and cropped denim. Paired with clogs, which I’ve been questioned about, but…comfort and added height??? WIN, in my book!
I’m kind of obsessed with cropped denim lately, and the more flare I can get the better. These…not as flared as I wanted, but since they are my favorite denim, I’ll wear them no matter what!
I will add that the name “High Rise Straight” is totally misleading. Slightly ok on the straight (I’d lean more towards calling them skinny, but I think the pair I bought had been hemmed), but in no way are they high rise. 8″ rise is not high (their website says 8.75, and Nordstrom Rack says 11″ UM…what??!!! NO! BUT…I forgive them, because all of their jeans are amazing no matter what.
I was on the fence on the asymmetrical design of this top. I’m usually all for “out of the ordinary” when it comes to design, and…I’m glad I went for it. Love the sides of this top!
Soooooo, this was one of those days that Maya was NOT in the mood. AT FIRST. I asked her if she wanted to go play somewhere, and she had a most definitive “NO!”
In her defense, she had been to preschool in the morning, and then we went to gymnastics “free play” in the afternoon.
And…. this is what she wore to gymnastics free play. I always let her pick what she wants to wear. At this point, that is the going rule always. But…for free play gymnastics, she has the option of her normal leotard (mandatory for actual class), or tights and a top. Today, she chose ALL PINK. I am really not much of a pink gal, but Maya….she’s ALL IN! I swear, she looks like a Pepto Bismol bottle some days, and…I just let it go. Because, if she’s happy, I’m happy. Which…took a while, and if I’m honest, isn’t completely true haha. 😉
Her hair too. It was down for gymnastics, and then half way through, she was like…
“MOM!!! I’m SOOOO HOT!!
So, 45 second updo to the rescue, and I love it! You will be seeing it again 🙂
Oh, and that stamp on her neck? Yeah…they get stamps at the end of class, and Maya always wants them on the back of her neck, forehead, feet, and now…neck. I feel like maybe the fact that I have tattoos might bite me in the ass… ;}
I can’t even tell you how much I love this next image. GAH! She is just too freaking sweet.
On me…
Like…this.
And, I’ll just file this look under “things to expect in the teenage years….”
