WhoWhatWear 30 Day Wardrobe Challenge // Day 15 // 3 Levels of Layering

It seems funny that I was so overwhelmed by this challenge at first.  I’ve been loving seeing other people’s takes on the challenge on Instagram too.  It’s what I love most about fashion.  Different people can wear almost the same look, yet look completely different.  That also means that you don’t have to shy away from something because you don’t think you could pull it off or it’s not you.  Make it you! 🙂  I had actually thought of a completely different outfit at first, but then it turned out to be 55-yay!  But…that didn’t exactly work with the silk top/sweater/jacket combo I had in mind.  So, I went with lighter layers…Blog Juicy Jacket HM Top Joes Jeans Born Booties-1Love how this top is sheer in the back. WhoWhatWear 30 Day Wardrobe Challenge // Day 14 Mix 2 prints into your outfit

I’m on a roll with these now.  Yesterday I showed how I made a neutral outfit interesting by layering and adding a pair of statement shoes.  I really do think I’ll finish all of them.  I’m more of a solid color person over prints, so this one totally freaked me out.  Leopard is kind of becoming a new neutral, so I totally felt ok mixing it with these jeans.  Yay or nay?

Btw, there is a very busy restaurant right off to the side of me that overlooks the water.  Yes, it was lunch time.  Yes, everyone was probably wondering what the heck I was doing… :}Blog Gap Shirt Black Orchid Ikat Jeans Leopard Flats-1 Blog Gap Shirt Black Orchid Ikat Jeans Leopard Flats-2 Blog Gap Shirt Black Orchid Ikat Jeans Leopard Flats-3 Blog Gap Shirt Black Orchid Ikat Jeans Leopard Flats-4 Blog Gap Shirt Black Orchid Ikat Jeans Leopard Flats-5 Blog Gap Shirt Black Orchid Ikat Jeans Leopard Flats-6I think Maya threw at least 87 rocks into the Sound… 🙂 Blog Gap Shirt Black Orchid Ikat Jeans Leopard Flats-7 Blog Gap Shirt Black Orchid Ikat Jeans Leopard Flats-8 Blog Gap Shirt Black Orchid Ikat Jeans Leopard Flats-9“Yay, I did it!” (got it into the water :)) Blog Gap Shirt Black Orchid Ikat Jeans Leopard Flats-10She even got into the “mixing two prints”.  Railroad stripes + checks Blog Gap Shirt Black Orchid Ikat Jeans Leopard Flats-11On me…

WhoWhatWear 30 Day Wardrobe Challenge // Day 13 Neutrals with a Pop

When I first saw this challenge in my Bloglovin’ feed, I thought it would be so fun to do!  Then, I started feeling overwhelmed.  A week went by, and I thought since I was so far behind, there was no point in trying anymore.  Yesterday it hit me.  There were no rules that said I had to do every day on the day it was supposed to happen, or that I had to do each day.  Once I took the pressure off, it sounded fun again.  I photographed 5 of the days yesterday, and plan on doing a big post at the end with all of them (that I don’t put on here first).  Today’s challenge was..

Black and Blue

Once again, I was in an all black mood… I had to force myself to add some color, and I thought this bright blue might go well.  As my dad later told me “That blue is the new black.” haha, so…I guess I’m still wearing all black? 😉Blog Doma Leather Jacket Zara Joes Jeans Zipper Pura Lopez Oxfords-1 Blog Doma Leather Jacket Zara Joes Jeans Zipper Pura Lopez Oxfords-2LOVE the simplicity of these Gorjana earrings.  I wear them all the time. DIY Lace Crown

This is ridiculously easy to do.  Now that I know it works and is so easy, I plan on doing some more detailed ones and buy some really cool lace!  Added bonus-it takes maybe 5 minutes to make woo hoo! 🙂Blog DIY Lace Crown-1Blog DIY Lace Crown-2 Blog DIY Lace Crown-3 Blog DIY Lace Crown-4 Blog DIY Lace Crown-5What you need…

  • Lace
  • Glue
  • Glitter (you could also glue on beads-I will next time :))
  • Blown up balloon (or something else you can rest it on while it dries that you don’t care about getting glue on)
  • paperclip
  • Newspaper

What you do…

  • Measure the lace around your toddlers head (honestly, this is probably the hardest part of the whole process haha)  Leave about 1/2 an inch overlay and cut.
  • Lay the lace down on the newspaper and run a bead of glue along the bottom of the lace and in the middle.  Smudge with your finger .
  • Let your toddler go to town on the glitter.  🙂
  • Fold the lace into the crown shape and make sure there’s plenty of glue on the ends that overlap.  Paperclip the spot where the ends overlap so that it stays connected.
  • Place the crown on the balloon and wait for it to dry.  I went back and moved it a few times so that it didn’t get glued to the balloon.  It will dry in the shape of the crown, but it’s still moveable/not stiff.

I can totally see making these for a party, or having the girls make them at the beginning of a party to take home when they leave!  dit-elle-Lauren

Gorgeous day in Seattle…

It’s so funny how if you give us a little sun and 50 degree weather, we are all happy as clams here in Seattle!  I’ve been dying to shoot down by the water with the Space Needle in the background for a while.  We walk by this spot almost every morning on our walk.  It’s SO pretty…Blog Zara Sweater J Brand Destroyed Jeans Frye Booties-1 Blog Zara Sweater J Brand Destroyed Jeans Frye Booties-2So…I tried something a little new with my hem.  I am 5′ 8″, but have ridiculously short legs.  That means, I usually either need to hem my jeans (will do a post on that at some point, because who wants to pay $20 for that??), let them scrunch up at the bottom, or roll them.  These jeans have a super long inseam (35!), so I double rolled them.  I can’t decide if it looks weird, or I’m onto the next “cool thing”  Let’s just say the latter 😉 Blog Zara Sweater J Brand Destroyed Jeans Frye Booties-3 Blog Zara Sweater J Brand Destroyed Jeans Frye Booties-4I really should do more posts with my bags.  I only have one actual diaper bag (which I posted here), but it doesn’t even look like a diaper bag (I made sure of that!).  I just buy oversized bags, and have a little bag that has a few diapers and wipes that I swap out into each of them 🙂  This particular bag I’m holding here was a major eBay score.  Regularly $446, and I got it for $26! Faux fur and camo in the woods…
