Goodness Knows Bars (a healthy snack bar!)

How many of you moms get asked about 87 times a day if your kid(s) can have a snack??

How many times are they TRULY hungry?  About 3… haha.

For me.  I really try and feed Maya good healthy meals, and I try and limit snacks to small things here and there in between.

SO..when Goodness Knows contacted me and asked me if I wanted to try their bars, I was all in!

They are portioned out bars!!!  AKA…you don’t have to give out the entire bar if you don’t want to.  Great for the kids that ask for a snack and then only take a few bites.  That is NOT Maya, but I know a lot of kids are that way.  The 4 portions totally save you on wasted food!

Did I mention they are all Non GMO, No Artificial Sweeteners, and Gluten Free?!

You can totally tailor it to your kids need.  You can say…”You can have TWO bars!”

Or…”Three!”  Or “FOUR!”

And this is done for me!  I don’t have to break a part of the bar off for her.  I just give her a square! I’ve been keeping these in my purse in a little baggie, and it’s been super helpful to just give her a square here and there!
Clearly, she loved these!! Thank you SO much Goodness Knows for sending us yummy bars to try!  They were a HIT!

By the way.  I kept these hidden from my husband and teenage son until we could try them and photograph them.  Afterwards, they were asking if it was ok to have some, and my teenager said “These are really good! I could eat about 20 of them!”  He’s 6′ 4″ and 17…. 🙂

The Huz liked them too!

SO…suffice to say, they are now a crowd pleaser in my multi age/multi opinionated family!!

*** While these were given to us, all thoughts and opinions are my own! ***

White Boho Top + High Waisted Crop Flares + Leopard Booties

If there is one thing I’m pretty consistent about style wise, it’s that I love basics….with a twist or edge.

Really, this is a white top + jeans + booties + a crossbody purse…
And it IS!  But, I love the pirate style lace up to the top.  The destroyed raw hem crop flare… The LEOPARD PRINT booties….DYING when I found these! And a cross body purse is SOOOO refreshing after the ginormous “diaper-carry-every-snack-entertainment-toy-crayons-coloring book” purse you have to carry as a mom of a toddler.  You can easily throw it over your shoulder and carry the bare minimums-LOVE! I can’t even with these next two….

LOVE HER!!  And, I’m sure it doesn’t need to be noted, but yes, that is ALL HER! Up on our neighbors porch, and I’m like “GET DOWN!!”

Yet, it looks so graceful and posed…

Of course I took a pic!

haha. 🙂 “Who me?!” So, this was one of those warmer fall evenings, and ALL the neighborhood kids were out.  It is a miracle I got any shots of just us, because they all just wanted to play.

WHICH IS GREAT!!!

Except…ugh.  Can I just have 5 minutes??  And of course, they were all asking what I was doing with the tripod and camera…  Don’t mind ME!

haha.

Sooooo in between them all running around the block (genius parenting move!!) I got shots of myself! 🙂And then, Maya played Star Wars with ANOTHER set of neighbor kids that came out after the other ones went in for dinner! Don’t mess with her!!!  She’s got older brothers…

HA!!

Leather Jacket + Booties for easy Day to Night

I did a post on Monday about one of my go to “Mom” outfits.

Chunky knit + Ripped super stretchy (A MUST!!!) skinny jeans + Comfy Cool Tennis Shoe.

Again, I don’t think you need to change your style when you become a mom, but for comforts sake, you do need to make a few modifications when you are chasing your toddler around or keeping up with your active 6 year old!

BUT…it’s still fun to get a little more dressed up for a date night or mama’s night out!!  The one downside to being a mom is the lack of time.  Seriously, WHERE DO THE HOURS GO?!!  If I know I’m going out, I usually try and do an outfit that I can take from day to night easily to make getting out the door on time a plausible feat!

The easiest for me is to swap out the tennis shoes for a fun bootie and throw on a leather jacket.  I swear it can take a tee shirt and jeans to another level!  Or in this case…a chunky knit and jeans! True reason for these next two shots in the “Keeping it Real” section 🙂 I think a lot of people get intimidated by open back tops.  But, I looooooove them!!  Layer a tank under for the day, and show off your pretty lace bralette at night!  I honestly could go without a bra, but I love the peek of lace!

How many bloggers out there feel like total nerds when people walk by or blatantly just watch what you’re doing with questioning looks as you take pics? 👀🙋🏼😂

Even more awkward because I take all our pics with a tripod! 🙈

There was a parking lot right across the street from this beautiful path and I happened to notice this guy just sitting in his car watching me. I only had 10 minutes before I had to pick Maya up from school, so I was rushing through pics and set ups. I froze when I first saw him, and then waved. He waved back and gave me a big thumbs up! 👍🏻😜👋🏻 Yes, I have a go big or go home ugly laugh…oh well. 🙂

Happy Halloween!! (2017)

There’s a dragon on the loose!! I honestly felt bad that I didn’t do more of a DIY costume this year, but Maya saw this mask and tail at Goodwill, and it was game over.

Honestly, I didn’t have time to make anything this year, so in a way I was relieved.  Last year’s DIY costume (OMG, is it possible that I didn’t BLOG IT?!!) was super fun, but wow…time consuming and a bit stressful.  Houston took her over to my In Laws early so they could see her in her costume.  Probably the only actual people to see her since she will be wearing a super warm jacket tonight! Every Part of her costume was thrifted.

On Maya…
Leotard- Bloch (thrifted)
Skirt- Hanna Andersson  (thrifted)
Sequined Leggings- A Children’s Place
Boots- Timberland

Mask , Tail, and Wings- Goodwill

Oversized Open Back Sweater + Ripped Skinnies + Leather Slip On Tennis Shoes

I often get questions about staying fashionable while being a mom.  The truth is…there is a level of comfort that is needed when you are chasing your child around, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be fashionable.  It doesn’t mean you have to say good bye to your former pre-kid style…

For me, I still wear a lot of the same things…with a few tweaks.

Here’s one of my go to looks.

Chunky knit + Ripped super stretchy (A MUST!!!) skinny jeans + Comfy Cool Tennis Shoe.
My favorite part of this sweater is the back!!  I’ve talked A LOT about my love of an interesting back.  You can look nice and conservative from the front, but give a hint of attitude when you turn around!

Later this week, I’ll show how I took this outfit from day to night.

Hint-I lost the tank top 🙂 Thank goodness for a zoom lens!  I kid you not.  She ran REALLY far from me!  How many moms can relate?  Oh…all of you?? 🙂 Clearly she thought it was hilarious…LOVE!!
LOVE all these next ones.  I honestly could have posted at least 5 more, but had to reign myself in at some point!
I’ll be SO sad when I can’t pick her up anymore!!!  The laughs right in my face…the tight cuddles…and even her licks (kisses).  😉  On me…

Sweater- One Teaspoon (eBay $5!, similar here and here)
Bra- H&M (old, similar here)
Top- Bordeaux (old, similar here)

Hahaha.  I swear the time she is most in the mood to “pose” is when I’m trying to set up the tripod and the focusing stand.  I don’t want her in the shot, which of course means she WANTS to be in it 😉
Oh, and it should be noted that this is a very popular biking path.  SO…we were constantly jumping out of the way!
These leaves though!!!!  SO worth it!
Every once in a while she makes a very agressive dive/fall.  At almost 50lbs, that isn’t insignificant!!  My face here…hahaha. And….Maya got control of the remote again ha! What a lot of our shots look like…

Military Utility Jackets + Stripes + Birkenstocks || Sunset on the beach…

Here’s another shoot from over THREE months ago.  We had happened to have a cooler evening in the beginning of July, and the Huz had to go out of town.

I decided to let Maya stay up a little past her bedtime, and we went to play on a beach and catch the gorgeous sunset.

SO glad I did!  We had the best time, and the sunset was amazing!!

We are supposed to have evenings in the mid 60’s this weekend, but I’ll be shooting other families at sunset time…

She almost gave me a heart attack running around and jumping from log to log! That sky though… Looooooooove this next one!! On me…

Jacket- Gap (thrifted for $7.50, similar here)
Top- Olivia Sky (Nordstrom Rack)
Jeans- Hudson “Collin Skinny Jeans” (thrifted for $6!)
Shoes- Birkenstock “Granada” (hand me down from my mom!)
On Maya…
Sweatshirt- Petit Bateau (thrifted, but similar here)
Top- Crewcuts (thrifted, but similar here)
Jeans- Hudson (Nordstrom Rack, similar here )
Shoes- Saltwater Sandals (thrifted)
Keeping it Real…
So….we didn’t exactly mean to catch the sunset.  We went down earlier at first, but as soon as we parked I realized I hadn’t put a card in my camera!!  I normally keep two cards in in my camera (after having one corrupt a while back!), but long story…took them both out-UGH!  I let Maya run around for a little bit, but then we ran back home (about 10 minutes away)  It was one of those days…
BUT…it all worked out for the best in the end, because it was a GORGEOUS night!
Maya’s face pretty much summed up my thoughts earlier though…haha.

Denim Jacket + Striped Top + Harem Pants! HELLOOOOO 90’s!!

Among the MANY things I said I’d never wear… 🙈

Harem Pants!

BUT, my first concert was MC Hammer, and he made them COOL for a hot minute in the late 80’s/early 90’s!

So…I guess it’s fate that I love them now! 😂😍

I mean….SO COMFY!!

And I pretend that they are flattering on days when skinny “ANYTHING” is not going to cut it… 😩🍷🐷 Sooooo, I know I’m sounding like a broken record, but I took these images TWO months ago haha.  We happened to have a cooler evening, so we layered up a bit.  Because of that I put it on the back burner for when temps did start to get cooler for real!

Oh, in reality, this whole blog has been put on the back burner.  I’m just trying to stay sane.  Right now that means spending time with the family, tackling my client work first, and if we have a few moments left over…taking pics for this blog.

I’ve got about 10+ posts that we’ve taken pics of, but no time to actually work on the blog posts!! 😦

I’m kind of getting a routine down that lets me have more time to work while Maya is in school, so hopefully I’ll catch up on everything soon!  Famous last words..

Those two dots in the distance are my dad and Maya 🙂 Our faces hahaha! She’s in heaven when he does this.  I feel like I’m going to vomit from dizziness just watching!

Distressed Overalls + Bodysuit + Lace Up Booties

I’m sure that there is an age when it’s really not appropriate to wear overalls…

But I’m thinking/convincing myself that that age is a ways off… 😉 . Because, I love them!  I’ve had a love for them since the 2nd grade when Dexys Midnight Runners came out with “Come on Eileen” . And if you are too young to remember that song, then listen, and dance along!  All that to say… My love of overalls runs deep. 🙂

So, oddly enough this looks like a foggy day in Seattle.

It wasn’t.  It was during the wildfires that happened back in early September.  I remember thinking that it was overcast, so it was ok to wear overalls.  At the end of this, I was a hot sweaty MESS!

BUT…let’s just pretend it was a cool foggy October day… 🙂

She says all the time….

“Mom…no pictures!!”

But you know what… I’ll keep doing them.  Because once we are actually THERE…

This is what I get.  And as much as I love looking back at these over and over…

I have to think that she will too. Pretty sure she has the best laugh EVER! Oh, and this outfit?  Totally wish I could pull it off!!

Faux leather shorts…might be a thing of my past.

BUT NOT OVERALLS!!

haha. One of the things I’ve always loved capturing…

Her running towards me!!

LOVE!!!! When she was younger, it always ended in her knocking me over with a hug.  Now…she just runs on past…haha. SUPER MAYA!!!

On me…

Bodysuit- H&M (similar here)
Booties- Boden (thrifted, similar here and obsessing over these! )
On Maya…
Jean Shirt- Hanna Andersson  (thrifted)
Top- Tucker and Tate (Nordstrom Rack)
Faux Leather Shorts- GapKids  (thrifted, similar here)
Ballet Flats- Clarks (thrifted, similar here)
Keeping it Real…
UGH!!!  The thing about taking our pictures with a tripod and shutter release is that we take a bunch of shots before I even go back to look and make sure that I actually got the focus right and….we didn’t dance right out of the shot.  That is a very common thing.  Oddly, the thing I most complain about when I ask others to take out pic haha.
These next ones.  TOTALLY out of focus, and…while fun, not at all in the frame!  BUT…I love them!!!  In all their blurriness!!
Oh, and I kid you not.  I DID a LOT of pics in this non focused shot!!
Thankfully, I changed it up and refocused.  CORRECTLY!

Bodysuits + High Waisted Chambray Pants + Leather Jacket + Booties

I posted a look last week that was beyond comfy, yet still for the warmer temps.

Seattle has since gotten a lot colder, but it’s hopefully going to be back in the 60’s this next week a few times!

The easiest way I know to transition your summer favs into fall is by adding a fun jacket (my favs are denim and leathe!) and booties!

So…I did just that! And meanwhile…there’s Maya art directing haha. 😉

On me…

Leather Jacket- Plein Sud (eBay, similar here), faux leather option here)
Bodysuit- Velvet Torch
Booties- Sam Edelman “Posey Chain Trim Bootie” (eBay, fun ones here & here)

All Black + Statement Clog! (Bodysuit + High Waisted Crop Pants + Strappy Clogs)

I recently posted about Maya turning SIX!  But…I felt like the post should be mostly about HER-duh!!  But…as she was off petting random dogs that came by, I had to opportunity to take pics of just me-ha!

As per usual, I wasn’t really prepared to take pics on this day.  This was on her actual birthday, and she had school.  I swear it’s one thing after another (such is life!!).  But after getting some work done while she was in school, my main thought was getting her last minute gifts/balloons!

Soooo, I put on the outfit that was sitting on my dresser from a wedding I’d recently shot-I’d washed the bodysuit, I promise!!.  BUT…it was in a mound of clean laundry on my dresser too.

Please tell me I’m not the only one that has a STACK of clothing on their dresser.  Clothes recently worn, but not really dirty.  Clothes out of the dryer that you don’t have time to fold and put away…for like 3 weeks straight.  Ok, 4.

This was SO comfy (as I need to be when shooting a wedding), but I feel like all black can crossover to just about any situation.  It can be casual, it can be dressy, it is always flattering.  AKA…it’s always a WIN!

I can’t even tell you how many times I’ve worn these clogs!  I’m so sad to be saying good bye to them until next summer! And…had to get shots of both of our shoes, because our shoe shots are some of my favs! Seriously…dying.

On me…

Bodysuit- H&M (similar here)
Pants- Club Monaco (really old, similar here and less expensive here)

I had given Maya the remote to take my picture, and she took like 35 in a row and wouldn’t stop haha.  This would be me running to stop her.
And…then I gave her the remote to take pics of us together.  I feel like she has way more fun when she has control of things at times.  But again…a kazillion shoe shots later… 🙂
