Tomorrow marks our 4th month “anniversary” of being in quarantine…

Neither of us has stepped inside a building that was not our house…
• 😩
We have not had contact within 6 feet of anyone not in our family…without a mask.
• 💔
We kind of broke that rule on Father’s Day when we had my parents and Charlie over for dinner. Masks were worn for most of the evening outside on our back patio except when we were eating… we had two tables set up for distancing and disposable plates and sanitizing stations. Honestly, it was heaven…

I’m NOT stating any of this to prove a point or shame anyone who has chosen to do differently!!! I just want to document what WE have done. This account is MY documentation of us…

It hasn’t been easy…there have been tears. 😥

BUT…there has also been laughter!!! LOTS of laughter. ❤️❤️❤️

Maya is of an age where she was getting tired of hanging out with me and doing things with me, so I was the constant chauffeur or chaperone for ALL her various activities.
•
I did it. Because…I wanted to see her have fun and be happy. I fail at a LOT of things as a mother, but making sure Maya had fun and was happy was always at the top of my list.
•
I feel like I’ve failed SO MANY TIMES at this over this quarantine time….
•
BUT…I’ve also DONE IT! ❤️
•
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it many more times. THIS is the reason I want to take pictures of us! I want her to remember that we had fun! That we have a special relationship. I am sure she will remember all the ways I was strict and controlling, and I’m not going to lie…

I AM THOSE THINGS TOO! 😬🙈

But my favorite parts of the day are when we cuddle in the morning, play in the day, laugh during ALL OF IT, and then cuddle at night. Those are our days. ON REPEAT. No matter what is mixed in between. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

LAST DAY OF 2nd grade!!! We took these to capture the last day of “school”! Which was over a week ago… But…I couldn’t get my act together to think of words I wanted to say…so, I’m delayed in posting.

SURVIVING!!! (BOTH OF US!) Maya has been a complete ROCK STAR! I’m SO proud of how she’s handled this time. She is 100% on board with WHY we need to be more protective, and if I’m honest…she’ s more vigilant that I am! Yet… Seeing so many friends on play dates every time we go out for walks…

Me telling her she still needs to do learning when we get home. (Ok, not now that it’s summer, but I’m playing catch up!) I miiiiiiight still be the mom that says she still needs to read and play learning apps while I get shit done… SUMMER!

I’m not going to lie…this week was a shit storm. And I haven’t felt like posting lately… so much going on!! 💔

I had four shoots now that we are in phase 2, and I honestly lost sleep about how I was going to do them. Not only how I would do them safely, but what would I do with Maya!?
•
My parents were and always have been a blessing! It’s more complicated now. They are high risk, so any interaction she has with them is somewhat remote… She walks over there (BY HERSELF-such a joy for her!) and hangs out outside while they watch her from afar on their balcony. I pack a lunch for her. It’s in no way perfect, but…it’s worked this week, and I’m so thankful!

I’m even more thankful when she comes home! To see her so happy to have been with someone other than me for the day.

I feel so bad for her right now. She’s been a total rockstar, but…
•
I’m so scared that WE are suffering. Our relationship…

100th day of Isolation…
😳
I had all these thoughts of making this a special shoot, but then…dinner ran late, and we couldn’t really GO anywhere, so…. Here we are. Me in comfy clothes, Maya in her jammies! BUT…I had to document it.
🤷🏼‍♀️
Some know this, some do not, but…we pulled Maya out of school a week and a half before the rest of Seattle did…

For reasons that I won’t go into.

For the last 100 days, it’s been mostly us.

No play dates, unless you consider running into friends on a walk and running around the street at a distance… Maya laughing the entire time like it’s a birthday party.

Going to visit my parents every morning (who live a few blocks away)…us on the sidewalk, them on their balcony. Honestly, the highlight of our day. Maya runs from our house to get there early for more chatting time.

We have left the house twice in our car to go deliver something to a local friend.

From afar…

She’s handled everything like a complete trooper.

On the flip side…

We have…

Walked approximately 400 miles. Give or take. We take two walks a day and they vary…I’m not going to add up my “walks” on my watch…as tempted as I am.

Listened to SO many audiobooks while we walked, until Maya decided she didn’t want to listen to them anymore…and would rather talk about Minecraft and Roblox.

SO many homemade meals! I’ve excelled in the art of multi meal cooking! It takes longer, but….LEFTOVERS!

We started off learning Spanish, but…that’s fallen by the wayside…best intentions.

Homeschooling…well, that is a rollercoaster. We’ve had good days, we’ve had bad days…we are still both alive-WIN!!! Here’s hoping we can integrate ourselves back into society at some point….
