Chunky Knits + Leather Leggings…from day to night!

I’m going to try as much as I can to do more day to night posts. Mainly for me, because I can never think of something to wear when I do get a night out! You may think…leather leggings for “day”…with a 4 year old?? Yup! So practical and totally comfy!!

I’ll start with the few “night” pics that I took right before I walked to pick Maya up from preschool. Changed my top into a flowing tank, and put on some Converse-good to go! Then…the sun came out, so the sweater came off. Yeah, this is what happens now when I throw her! She flings her legs out, and then lands like this haha. Kind of scary though, getting her down. Her face kills me haha. And…she’s OFF! I can’t handle how sweet she is sometimes… And then…my mom happened to drive by! If this isn’t the face of excitement, I don’t know what is 🙂 If you look close in her eyes, you can see me and my mom! Yeah…I had the camera on the tripod in the street to get this shot. Only took a few 🙂 You will totally be seeing more of these pig tails! She requested them, and I cannot believe I haven’t done them sooner-SO CUTE!!!On me…

Coated Moto Skinny Pants…day to night.

I knew I was going out later this night, but really didn’t want to have to think about a separate outfit. So…I picked something that I could dress down for preschool drop off, work, pick up, and then play…then easily transition into a Mama’s night out!

Coated denim is one of my favorite things to wear in the fall/winter. Super fun and easy to clean-WIN! And it can easily be dressed up or down. Denim jackets are my favorite “make just about anything easy and casual” item of clothing.

I love the fun little slit in this tee. And the moto detailing on these pants!! It was hard to capture it on camera, but both by the pockets and at the bottom of the pants are super cool stitching. Then…had a little fun in photoshop with this one 🙂 It’s amazing what a difference a change in shoes can make!Add a leather jacket, and you’re ready to go out!I took these pictures on a bike trail that is right next to a pretty busy street. Yeah…I got a lot of looks. One biker even offered to stop and take some pics for me haha. No…I don’t feel like a complete nerd at all with my tripod and self timer-ugh ;}

And seriously, the weather in Seattle is so wonky. I took the shot above and the one below less than a minute apart. It went from totally overcast to SUNNY.After I picked Maya up from school, we walked over to my parents house. I cannot believe Maya is four!!

I keep searching for the words to say to you to let you know how much you are loved… There are no words that would adequately describe how much you light up the lives of everyone who knows you. You are so incredibly funny and sweet. You find joy in every single day, and make sure I do too. You are also wicked smart and constantly blow my mind. I feel like the luckiest person in the world to be your mom.Yeah, the balloons lasted all of about 3 minutes haha. In all honesty, I had planned to do this shoot at low tide on the beach. But…I somehow got the tide schedule all messed up, and it was high tide instead! So…we headed for a park. Maya took off running, so I had my mom take a few pictures of me. Nothing lures her back like me trying to get pictures by myself haha.

I love this dress, but it’s a liiiiiittle short. I always want to wear it, and then end up not. This day, I threw some Levi’s cut offs under it, and was good to go! I kept wanting to tell people

“I have shorts on!!!” 😉And if there was ever a dress made for twirling, this is it! Sadly…I’m not made for twirling 😉 She looooooves her Meme 🙂I was determined to try again with the balloons. I swear the more I try and put effort into things, the less Maya could care ha! And then I just let her do what she loves most. Jump and dance 🙂 Happy Birthday sweet Peanut.

If you follow us on Instagram, you know that I just SCORED these leopard print booties (along with a few other goodies) for less than $10!!! And what’s even better? They are super comfy!! And I seriously think that leopard is a neutral that goes with everything, so…SCORE!!!LOVE the details on this top! Anniversary Dinner…

It was our anniversary on Saturday, and I was determined NOT to do my usual “jump in the shower 20 minutes before we are supposed to leave”!! I wasn’t really sure what I wanted to wear, but thought it might be fun to wear a dress to shake it up a little. The Huz always likes me in a dress, so… LOVE the back!!! I’ve talked many times about my love of interesting backs. I love that the dress looks sweet and girly from the front, but then….BAM! 🙂 Couldn’t get shoes on her…but she was accessorized 🙂 Trying to get the neighbor boys to come play with her 😉

Wide Leg Denim + Pastel Tops…for the both of us!!

YES!! I found wide leg denim for the both of us!! Thrifting no less! (insert hands in the air emoticon!!)

Ok, but first… It’s really not that big of a feat to find wide leg denim for me. It’s out there. It’s popular. I love it. Some don’t, so yay for me! I thrifted this particular pair for $16, which (might shock you) is more than I would normally spend. BUT…wide leg, fun zipper pockets, and fit almost perfectly, except the length?! I was sold. I can’t blame my abnormally short legs too many times. They do a LOT for me… (fyi, I’m 5′ 8″ and am wearing 4″ heels wedges-GRRRR)Honestly, I had thought about pairing this top with a high waisted pair of wide legged jeans, but then said F it, and wore it with low rise. Yes, I’m over 40. Yes, my tummy is a few shades lighter than my arms. Yes, I kiiiiinda care. But…no time for all of the above-DONE! Maya’s like “Um….Mom?! Over here!!!” 🙂 Cannot get her out of my neighbors yards!!!! {sorry neighbors!!!}I mean…could you DIE over how cute wide legged jeans are on a toddler?? I thrifted hers last week for $9, which (again!) is more than I would normally spend, but…TODDLER FLARES?!??!Oh, and then…the dancing began. I don’t think there’s ever an outfit post where either Maya or I (usually both!) are wearing something that I’ve scored at a thriftstore or on eBay. I usually don’t dress head to toe in thrift finds, although Maya usually does 😉 This past week, I totally scored though. I was bummed that I missed out on the Memorial Day 50% off sales, but I figured later in the week they’d probably have to replenish pretty heavily. BOY WAS I RIGHT!! I had a 30% off coupon from donating, so I tried my luck and scored this entire outfit for less than $20! Retail, it would have been $400+!!What’s a more classic outfit than a white button down and jeans? I love the fun tribal clog to add a little twist and a pop of color 🙂 And Maya’s entire outfit was less than $5!!! Yes, I scored her TWO pairs of Saltwater Sandals lately for $1.50 each!

And…I meant to take pictures of both of us at the park, but my camera was still at Canon being fixed from the whole sneaker wave incident ;{ I forgot to put the tripod attachment on my back up camera, so…only pics of Maya at the park!And, of course she found a potato bug, because she is absolutely obsessed! And then she dropped him. She didn’t want to move her fit, because she didn’t want to step on him, so she was just squatting looking around for him hahaha. I was dying! Sadly, we didn’t find him… And then she was off chasing dragon flies! On me…

For $9, I took this relatively simple and casual outfit, and dressed it up ($4 for the vintage silk scarf, and $5 for the sandals). I scored this super cute vintage silk scarf while I was on my girls trip. I keep wanting to figure out how to wear it in my hair, and a) have it stay put b) not look like I’m totally trying too hard. So far, I haven’t succeeded in either of those, so…instead I wore it as a belt! 🙂 This was supposed to be a hug. Maya had other plans. Does she think she’s in the circus?? Maya calls this her “Rapunzel dress”. I have no idea why, but I totally know what one she means when she asks to wear it. I usually say no (it’s silk…), but since she’d been super sick for the past 4 days, I said yes. Truth be told. Getting out of our self imposed lock down to play dress up for a little bit sounded really nice. Oh, you’re going over there? I see… I know how to get her back though 😉 She’s obsessed with other people’s mail boxes!! And…my jewelry as of late. She found this bracelet of mine and carries it/wears it everywhere. It’s a cuff, and I bent it so it closed. It aaaaalmost fits her.Telling our neighbors how old she is. Nope, not 6…just a double dose of 3!On me…

Mother’s Day 2015

Every year, both my mom and I ask for one thing on Mother’s Day. Pictures. The apple doesn’t fall far haha.

I got soooo much more though, and it truly was the perfect day. Maya and I started off going for a morning walk with my parents while the Huz got some work done (and snuck away to Pike Place to get both me and my mom gorgeous flowers!). Then, we took a little day trip to Snoqualmie Falls. Came home in time for Maya to “nap” 😉 while I got some work done, then my parents came over for an AMAZING dinner the Huz prepared. Couldn’t have asked for a better day…

I ditched the tripod and my mom got these of me and Maya before dinner.Btw, my entire outfit is thrifted, and the total cost was around $20! 🙂 This looks super sweet, but she’s just about to bite my nose haha. 😉 I could just eat her up!!!And then my dad got these of the three of us. That little smirk KILLS ME!!After dinner and a liiiittle wine, we all came back outside.
