 Well, we are officially in the cold weather, and I’m thinking about Thanksgiving outfits.

We have a pretty laid back casual Thanksgiving. We usually host, and I’m usually still cooking/cleaning/prepping until people start showing up. 😏

SO…I have to be comfy. This honestly might be what I end up wearing.

Sweater (I gotta try, right? 😜) + High Waisted Jeans (to hold in my overstuffed tummy 🙈🐷) + Warm sheepskin lined clogs (comfort, cozy, and cute-the 3 c’s! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻)

I’m determined to shoot a few more options up until then, so I’m not frantically deciding the afternoon of… I’ve realized that I’ve photographed these jeans repeatedly (ok, not sure I’ve posted them repeatedly yet, but they are coming!!)

…but they are SO comfy and so flattering, SO… 🙂

On me…

 We took these pictures the day before Maya’s birthday (which was October 4th…) . I kept meaning to do a post that honored her, and well…October FLEW BY!

Well, things haven’t really slowed down, but I wanted to make sure I posted these before too much time had passed…

I just went back and reread last year’s birthday post, and so much of it is still spot on.   Which proves that you will always be unapologetically YOU!  At least I hope you will…

You are both equal parts incredibly sweet and cuddly yet fiery with a “HISS” and claws ready to pounce!  Which…anyone who knows you, knows exactly what this last part looks like! 😉

You still love to sing, and have started making up your own songs.  They are AMAZING!!  Usually you don’t like me recording them, but I’ve managed to get a few!  One of which you taped yourself in one of the last posts!  Never mind me yelling at you in the beginning haha.  I had no idea what you were doing…

You’ve also started making up your own jokes and riddles.  I keep asking at the end…”Did you make that up??!!”  Yup!

You still don’t like organized sports and prefer to just have FUN!  I keep signing you up though, much to your frustration…When you try, you’re very good!

You do love to swim though, and really turned a corner over the summer!

You are still hands down one of my favorite people to be around!  Our morning snuggles are the best part of my day, as are our bed time cuddles/reading.  We’ve plowed through a number of series.  Some of your favs are the “My Happy Life” series and Ivy and Bean.  You read the first page and I finish the chapter.  Then if you want another chapter we alternate pages.  It’s been what’s made the biggest difference in your reading.  Anything to stay up later!  Kind of patting myself on the back for figuring that out 😉

We end every night blowing kisses to each other…you in bed, me at your door.   Then, we fight over who loves each other more.

It was SO windy when we got to the beach, and I was worried we wouldn’t be able to get any shots!  I actually LOVE how the wind made our hair crazy!  Definitely good for a laugh! I jumped in for a few 🙂

I honestly could have done an entire post of bloopers!  The wind really was impressive!! Almost blew her over! Because it was so windy, I couldn’t hear when the shutter would go off.  SO…there’s a lot of me checking the remote.

 The Mom Edit had a month long style challenge during October.

Each week there was a theme.

I looooove style challenges!  Sadly, I don’t have time to partake usually.

One of these days, I’m going to make up my own!  When I have time…

In any case.  The Mom Edit’s style challenge for this particular week was “70’s Vibe”.  Just went to link their post, and realized I got featured-yay!  Not this outfit, but 2 other ones 🙂

As someone who was born in the 70’s, I thought…I GOT THIS!  I had SO many thoughts of outfits I wanted to put together!

And then…work.  Maya’s stuff.  RAIN.  WORK….

Anyways.  This is about it.

Vintage coat.  Possibly from the 70’s, but so timeless that it works in about EVERY era!

Cut off Levi’s Denim skirt!  Because.  CUT OFFS.  LEVI’S!  Denim Skirt…70’s!

Chunky cream knits.  Yes.

Vintage Frye Knee High Boots.  Quite possibly from the 70’s too! And no shame in my game.  People were walking by left and right this foggy morning… But in between….don’t mind me!

The funny thing is…we just pulled over to the side of the road for 15 minutes, proving once again…the less I plan out our shoots the better haha. I want to eat her up!! One of my favs of us!! The raw hem…done two different ways.  Hers came that way, I DIY’d mine!

 This is one of my favorite shoots we’d done in a while.  It was totally impromptu outside of our house, which is usually when Maya gets into it the most.

Oddly enough…favorite shoot or no, we took them FIVE months ago….whoops.

So, let’s pretend those are yellow and orange leaves behind us!

We actually had a nice sunny day today, so the outfits could have happened! These were one of the first flares that I chopped.  They are my FAV!!  And…the ones that started the chopping addiction ha! Baby Birks!!  DYING! These next images are some of my absolute favs of us! And….Maya totally schooling me on the art of posing!

 Yup…trying to cram in the summer posts!

My favorite thing as of late is a high tie waisted crop flare!

Funny thing.  When I wore these….3 months ago… I wasn’t as busy!

I thought…”I’ll post these someday soon…”

Yet, now, I’m trying to cram in all the summer things before they look ridiculous. And I CAN’T let these images of US go by…. And…ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

Second thing…we took these images a YEAR AND A HALF AGO!!!

 I could lie and say that we took these recently, but alas…it’s broken record time.

We took these back in June!

But…I’m over posting in real time, and hopefully anyone reading this is too.

I still want to capture US.  And…while I’m capturing us in the current time, I don’t have time to post all the images, so… I’m going to pretend I got my act together and took these recently when the weather was nice RARELY do I look at the camera (Tripod!), but I’m sure Maya was running around behind it! Picking flowers for me… 🙂 LOVE HER!

Twirling and dancing is where she’s happiest…

Party Dresses on the Beach at Sunset…

 A little over a month ago, Maya and I participated in a photo challenge put on by Red Tricycle and Disney Junior.  I posted one of our entries along with a quick chia pudding recipe here.

We didn’t win, but we sure did have fun!  We ended up knocking out 3 days worth of challenges in this one shoot, because…as fun as it was.  It took time!  And time is a hot commodity these days.  The best part was that we were doing it together though!  And Maya was excited about it-YES!

We were both excited about the “Elegant Ensemble” challenge.

Party dress?  Count us IN!

Looooove this next one! Another day was “Fancy Fingernails”

This was super fun!  Normally I go get manicures with just my mom, but I asked Maya if she wanted to come with us, and she did!  She was so serious when they were doing her nails.  And of course…she picked FOUR colors haha.

Blue and white on one hand…silver and gold on the other.  🙂

Maya on a rock…is her comfort zone…OMG.  This is hands down my new favorite picture of Maya!

SO HER!! And yet…this is also so her.

All I said was, “Can I get a picture of you standing on that rock?” Then…we got some together again as the sun was fully down.

I didn’t get a good picture of Maya’s (shown later in a phone pic in the “keeping it real” section!), but her’s was braided all along the back and then a braid bun.  She had been asking me to do her hair that way for a WHILE, so I finally tackled it.  She was VERY specific!

I was a liiiiiittle nervous that I was putting too much time/thought into this shoot.  I kid you not, the more time and thought I put into shoots, the more likely it is to go to shit!
So…I made sure to leave with PLENTY of time to catch the sunset.  I picked a spot that usually isn’t very popular, but 10 min after we got there a family of SIX comes down.  Not only would they be in our shots I had set up, but of course Maya wanted to play with them!
We flipped it around and shot the other way… But, it’s a lot harder to focus when things are heavily backlit…
I messed up the focus on the first round of shots!
I DID NOT GIVE UP THOUGH!  hahaha.
And finally the family left after the sun had gone down.  And…we got the amazing shots on this rock!  But not before…
And…here’s the picture I actually took with my phone as I finished Maya’s hair.
SO glad I did!
And I’m only a little bummed I didn’t get a picture of it on the beach, but…whatever!  I got WAY
more than I expected to get!
