High Waisted “Mom Jeans” + Striped Top + Leather Jacket (Spring…??)

The weather here in Seattle is still sunny and somewhat warm one minute (it got up to 80 yesterday!!), and then overcast and COLD the next!  I’m SO excited for consistent warmer temps, but they just aren’t quite here yet…

Which means…of course…layering. Oh, and I’m totally into tying a bandana or scarf around my non washed mom bun.

Like….this hair that I haven’t washed in 4 days?  Let me wrap something pretty around it-ha! Notice…no shadows in this next shot??  Sun is gone! OH!  And then back again!Photographically, it’s a NIGHTMARE to shoot in these conditions!  ESPECIALLY if you are trying to take shots with a tripod.  Don’t get me started…

BUT…I mainly wanted to come down here for Maya to play, so it really was fun to capture her in her element.

Although, she will still always say… “I don’t want to go to the beach!!

Uh huh… Love these next ones.  There was this tiny rock that she balanced on. And then….just went in! Once she’s wet, it’s hard to get her out of the water!

On me…

Keeping it Real…
The main problem now taking Maya to a beach is that she just wants to play with all the other
kids, and….they just wander into our shots haha.  I tried to blur them out, but oddly, I don’t
know how to do that!
When there are others around, I aim to get one go for me, one go for both of us, and then just let her play.  Which I love capturing anyways!  And she has fun, which means…we keep getting to do this 🙂
Hahaha.  This little boy kept wandering into the shot and looking at the camera.  Unlike the one I wanted to take pics with me 😉

Destroyed Denim Jackets + High Waisted Crop Flares + Clogs | Twinning is Winning!

I never know when I’m going to get a bunch of images I love…

I swear the more time and thought I put into a shoot, the less chance it has of turning out haha.

This one, however…I could split into two posts, because I got SO many that I love!

Yup, another pair of cut off pants.  Not going to stop, #sorrynotsorry 😉

I looooooove the detailing on the front pockets of these! Not quite sure how to put my hands in them though haha. This location is perfect for us, which is why we come here a LOT!  There are ALWAYS dogs walking by or playing in the field next to us, so Maya is in heaven!  It is sometimes hard to get her BACK into the shots with me, but usually I can grab her for a few here and there. LOOOOOOOVE this next one!

And…I was looking up this top from past blog posts, and saw THIS POST!

OH MY GOSH!  Chunky little Maya!  DYING!

AND!!!  There’s almost an identical image like the one below!

I HAD to put this other one in!!And then….these! LOOOOOOVE! I can’t believe it was warm enough for me to take my jacket off, but it was! DYING over these next ones!!  I’ll be so sad when her gap toothed smile grows back in!!

Vintage Leather Jacket + Levi’s 501’s DIY Cropped + Dr Martens

Oh, another pair of cut off jeans you ask?

YUP!!

Like most of my outfits, this entire outfit is thrifted!

It’s been a while for some of the pieces, but if I had to guess, I’d say the entire outfit cost me less than $50.  And yes, that’s a true leather jacket, which are GREAT for transitioning between the seasons!  We are still totally in between seasons right now in Seattle!  One day will be warmer and sunny, and then we are back in to the 40’s the next day.
And…the power of the sun.  All the images above were with my camera in the sun (hence the hazy sun flare.) . I moved it into the shade with me to get a close up, and no more flare.

If anyone would be interested in more camera tips, just let me know!

Vintage Camel Hair Coat + Tie Front Striped Button Down + DIY High Waisted Crop Flare + Clogs

if you follow us at all, you know I’m totally obsessed with cutting my jeans.  It’s one of the many perks of thrifting!  I’m much more adventurous on my “alterations” when I’ve spent less than $20 on a pair of jeans.  Usually less than $15!  I went through a distressing my own jeans phase.

Now, I’m all about chopping off the bottom of all my jeans.  You see the raw hem trend EVERYWHERE, which is TOTALLY helpful when you have a short inseam! And also….striped button down tops!  I had to have an extension to my striped tee obsession haha. But back to the cutting of the jeans…

It’s to the point that it’s getting a little out of control-ha!  Yet…not?

It’s like I’m giving new life to jeans I was NEVER wearing!  AND…now I LOVE them.

So, is that wrong?  I think not.

I had to admit to myself.  Long jeans with heels are not happening anymore.  SO, all my beloved “date night” long jeans….chop chop!

And I’m now I want to wear them all the time!

And they will just get better with every wash… And I’m late in posting this.  Like…really late.

BUT, I’ve said it before.  One of my favorite things to thrift is vintage wool coats.  You can find AMAZING coats with details you can’t even imagine for less than $30!  This one was $16, and I have to be honest…I was cranky about that hahaha.

YET…if you were to buy a true camel hair coat of this quality in the stores, you’d be paying $200 minimum, and upwards of $500!) . SO, again, go thrifting!  Even if you are in a small town!  Go to vintage/antique stores or malls!  I’ve found some GEMS visiting random little towns.

On me…

100% Camel Hair Coat- Vintage (thrifted for $16! similar here )
Top- J Crew (eBay, Similar here)
Jeans- AG DIY Cut hem (eBay, similar here).

Sooo…it was REALLY windy, as you can tell from my hair, but this is also on a pretty high traffic street.  Totally got busted by someone driving reeeeeeaaaaally slow by me wondering what the heck I was doing.  I’m actually totally over it, but still feel like a total nerd in the moment haha.
Whatever.  The look on my face though….

Gossip & Glamour WHAT SHE SAID Style Summit

I was fortunate to be able to attend the What She Said Style Summit put together beautifully by Sydny

You can check out her overview of the amazing event here.

The event started with the “Over 50k Club” featuring panelists…

Panelists included: Chelsea Lankford of True Lane, Aika Yokoyama of Aika’s Love Closet, and Sabrina Tan of Gypsy Tan.

Personally, I was super excited to see Chelsea Lankford, because I’ve been following here even before she moved back to Seattle!

They talked about different ways to get yourself seen, and the importance of a media kit.

No, I don’t have one.. 🙂 And…can we talk about how pretty and yummy this mint strawberry water was?!! One of the biggest highlights for me was meeting people I follow on Instagram.  Especially these two ladies (Krista and Julie) from Last Seen Wearing.  They were nice enough to let me be their 3rd wheel for the day 🙂 The next panel was the “Future of Fashion”

Panelists included: Brittany Hicks of Amazon Fashion, Shannon Kelly of Trendscaping, Stephanie Meyer of Armoire, Amy Sarabi of Zumiez, and designer Elisa Yip

Next we were able to walk around and meet some amazing vendors.

Pressed Juicery

Stephanie Meyer of Armoire Women’s neckties by Andie and Erin Stunning handcrafted bags by Kacy Yom Super fun shoes by Steve Madden. SO excited to try some false eyelashes by Noir Lash Lounge! How cute are these mugs from Third Culture Coffee?? Hahaha 🙂 The Cote D’Azure scent line from Oribe was so yummy smelling! And how cool that Obadiah Salon did women’s hair on site!!They also gave out gift bags to everyone with great samples!  I’m loving the Orible Straight Away Smoothing Blowout Cream.  It’s super smooth and smells amazing! Btw, how cute is she?

And how dreamy is the lingerie from Salua Lingerie?? And sooooo many amazing pieces from Kendra Scott! And the W Bellevue put on an amazing spread for lunch!!

There was SO much more, but I only remembered to go back to take pics after it was all devoured haha.  Whoops. The last panel was on “Fashion Essentials”

Moderated by Crystal Southcote of Southcote Digital with insight from photographer Delaney Brown, Alexandra Perwin of Hipster Money, Sophie Reichelt of Project Bionic, freelance writer Amanda Zurita, and Amanda Winters of Blue Nile This was by far my favorite part of the event.  Last year there weren’t break out sessions, but this year they broke you up into categories.

I went to the Fashion 40 and met so many amazing women!  It was moderated by Dawn from Party til Dawn. We literally had to be cut off to go back to the main meeting.  Absolutely looking forward to working with these women in the future! Lastly was the Keynote by Andrew Hoge

He was engaging, funning, insightful, and the perfect end to the summit! Thank you Dawn for snapping this image of me!

I’ll do a post next highlighting this outfit…
Julie and Krista from Last Seen Wearing and Dawn from Party til Dawn Then we went downstairs for some drinks and mingling…

AND…I actually stayed for more than 5 minutes!

Breaking my record from last year when I didn’t know anyone and was too embarrassed to stay haha.Big thank you to Sydney Mintle from Gossip & Glamour for putting together such an amazing event and to the W Bellevue for hosting and for spoiling us!

Can’t wait for next year!

Did anyone else go?  What was your favorite part/take away??!

Bone Broth Rotisserie Chicken Ramen Soup with Soft Boiled Egg || Crockpot | Gluten Free

We had two gorgeous days this week, and then…back to rain and cold.

We cannot seem to shake the illnesses over here, so I’m still cranking out the bone broth soups!

LOVED this one!!

This recipe can be varied in so many ways, but…here’s what I did!

I buy two rotisserie chickens each week.  One we eat as a meal, and then I use both carcasses, for the bone broth.  The other chicken goes back into the soup I make!

Ingredients (feeds 4 with leftovers)

  • Two Rotisserie Chickens (Use both carcasses for the bone broth but the shredded chicken from both can be used for multiple meals!)
  • 4-6 Medium sized carrots (I used usually use organic Rainbow Carrots, because… FUN COLORS! 🙂 but didn’t have them this time.  I highly recommend them though :))
  • 1 Tablespoon crushed ginger
  • 1 Teaspoon crushed garlic
  • 1 Medium to Large Onion Diced
  • Sea Salt and Pepper to taste
  • Soft boiled egg (boil for 7 minutes and then immediately put into ice cold water)
  • Avocado and any other veggies to top for crunch.  I added tomatoes, but shredded carrots or sprouts would be yummy too!
  • Ramen Noodles (I used these) . Or you could do zoodles or sweet potato “noodles” for Whole 30!

Directions

  • Pick off all the chicken from the bone and set aside in an airtight container.
  • It’s not necessary, but I found these bags and I put all my bones in them.  No need to pick out bones and you get to keep all the yummy onions and carrots  Very crude Video HERE haha.
  • Place the carcass in the slowcooker with the carrots, onions, garlic, and ginger.
  • Pour 10-12 Cups of Water depending on your crockpot.  I filled mine until 1″ of the top.
  • Cook on low overnight for 12-18 hours.  Honestly…longer the better.
  • The next morning, pull on the bones out unless you bought the bags!!.  I left the carrots and onions in there, and for me…it’s a must for flavor!  They were mushy, but I figured the flavor would still be good and it SO was!
  • Add in ramen noodles and let them sit for a few minutes or all day.
  • Add shredded chicken back in and let sit on warm until dinner.
  • Top with soft boiled egg and any other condiments.

For other recipes…

For beginners that haven’t tried making bone broth before….I hadn’t either.  So…here’s (with adjustments added!  My first attempt here, and my 2nd version with sweet “potato noodles”.

Military Parka + Cashmere Sweater + Lace Up Boots

Anyone tired of thinking up ways to layer to stay warm yet not be cocooned in a knee length wearable sleeping bag?

If I’m honest…I was COLD wearing this after the sun went down!!  Thankfully Maya was running around to keep herself warm!

I am SOOO ready for warmer temps, and it’s supposed to be in the 60’s this weekend-woo hoo! Gah!!!  Love HER FACE! And then….hahaha. Some of my new favs… These are both now GONE!!  I really need to capture her gap toothed smile more before the teeth grow back in! She ran back and forth jumping over this puddle about 87 times… 🙂

Leather Jacket + Romper + Tights + Booties

How many of you are SICK of sweaters and bundling up when you go out?

I’m itching to wear some of my warmer weather clothes, but since it JUST SNOWED this week, that’s not happening.  BUT…if you layer some opaque tights under a dress or a romper, it really does add some warmth without adding bulk!

and…all black is ALWAYS a good idea 🙂

On me…

Jacket- Doma (old, similar here)
Romper- Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent (eBay, sold out, similar here and here )
Tights- Purchased from my local drugstore haha.
Boots- Circa Joan & David (thrifted, similar here)

I don’t really have any outtake pictures, because I shot these in….
ONE MINUTE 30 SECONDS!  Bahaha.
I had 30 minutes before I had to pick Maya up, and had taken pictures of another outfit, but brought this just in case, because….I HAD DONE MY HAIR!!
My timer went off telling me I had 10 minutes before I had to pick up Maya, and I thought….Hmmmm, I bet I could change really fast.  So, I literally changed in my car (good thing nobody drove by during THAT!), ran back outside to the camera and tripod that was set up for the previous shot, and did TWO shutter burst of 10 shots.
DONE.
HA!  Seriously, I really need to give myself more time!!  Alas…I never do.

Bone Broth Rotisserie Chicken Sweet Potato “Noodle” Soup || Crockpot | Whole30 | Gluten Free

I’m officially obsessed with making bone broth soups!!

Admittedly so much so that the Huz said….”Ok, I might need a soup break.”

haha.  Whoops.

Yet…are you kidding me?  SOUP break when it’s FREEZING outside and everyone is getting sick??!!

NO!!

I changed my original attempt at making this, because one chicken carcass didn’t seem to wield enough flavor-mostly because I don’t like adding a litany of seasonings!.  Also, my original attempt used regular noodles, so don’t despair, if you want a hearty DELICIOUS recipe, that is not Whole30…it would be delicious with any kind of noodles!  And would be even more so with the two carcass addition!

Admittedly, I didn’t soak mine for days… as it probably should have if you are only using one carcas.

I’m more of an overnight for the next meal kinda person.  SO…if you’re with me on that, and want even MORE left overs…

TWO CHICKENS!

Otherwise…one chicken carcass for longer 15-18 hours is what I read.

SO…I’m now converted to buying two chickens!  We eat one meal from the actual chicken, and then I take all the meat off both for later use (more recipes on that to come!) but most of one chicken goes back into the soup.

Ingredients (feeds 4 with leftovers)

  • Two Rotisserie Chickens (Use both carcasses for the bone broth but the shredded chicken from both can be used for multiple meals!)
  • 4-6 Medium sized carrots (I used organic Rainbow Carrots, because… FUN COLORS! :))
  • 1 Tablespoon crushed ginger
  • 1 Teaspoon crushed garlic
  • 1 Medium to Large Onion Diced
  • Sea Salt and Pepper to taste
  • 1 Sweet potato spiralized to make “noodles” . Could also do any veggie or use any other kind of noodle!  I cannot even tell you how easy it is to do this! Less than 2 minutes.

Directions

  • Pick off all the chicken from the bone and set aside in an airtight container.
  • GUYS!!!  Editing to add.  I did NOT do this for this recipe, but later found these bags and I put all my bones in them, then lifted it all out!  DONE!  Very crude Video HERE haha.
  • Place the carcass in the slowcooker with the carrots, onions, garlic, and ginger.
  • Pour 10-12 Cups of Water depending on your crockpot.  I filled mine until 1″ of the top (Ok, I filled it to closer to the top my next time, and…it didn’t go well for the cleaning up aspect…fyi :)) . SO…keep it within an inch of the top 🙂
  • Cook on low overnight for 12-18 hours.  Honestly…longer the better.
  • The next morning, pull on the bones out unless you bought these bags!!.  I left the carrots and onions in there, and for me…it’s a must for flavor!  They were mushy, but I figured the flavor would still be good and it SO was!
  • Meanwhile…spiralize your sweet potato.  You have plenty of time, so no rush on doing it 🙂
  • When the bones are all out (pick them out or lift them out in a bag!), place the spiralized sweet potatos back in and cook on high for another hour.
  • Add shredded chicken back in and let sit on warm until dinner!Great for those sick days….or NOT, because….YUM!!

For other recipes…

For beginners that haven’t tried making bone broth before….I hadn’t either.  So…here’s (with adjustments added!  my first attempt!

Faux Fur + Stripes + DIY Released Hem Skinnies + RED Clogs | Valentine’s Day 2018

Never one to be on time…

We took these on Valentine’s Day…but a pop of red is always a good idea in my opinion! I’ll be doing a blog post on just how easy it is to do your own released hem that’s all the rage right now.

I did these while I was watching Maya’s gymnastics class! LOVE! Funny story.  Maya had this idea in her head of what she wanted us to do.  I could NOT figure out what she meant!

But…I think this was it haha.
This was NOT it.  Her face…haha. Singing her little heart out! Gah….I will be so sad when her teeth come in!!

Just so  you know…the images of me by myself?  They usually start with me trying to lure Maya
in, and then when she doesn’t want to….I improvise.
Yeah…she was NOT feeling it at first. And then…WHY DO I KEEP THINKING BALLOONS ARE A GOOD IDEA!??!!
They are NOT!!!  Like…EVER!
Ok, maybe 2% of the time…
