Belted Silk Maxi + Birkenstocks For a Night Out…

About two months ago (yes, I’m frantically trying to squeeze in all the summer pictures before they look ridiculous!), the Huz and I went to a friends house for an amazing dinner that we won at Maya’s school auction!

I’d been wanting to wear this maxi dress, but was worried I’d look too dressed up.  Am I the only one that worrieSO..I put a vintage braided belt on and some Birkenstocks, and dressed it down a little! My parents were watching Maya, so we took these when I went to drop her off.  YES, I brought my camera and tripod haha.  And when we showed up, my mom was unintentionally totally matching us!

I’d call that FATE!! I mean… 🙂Love this sequence of Maya.  It’s SO HER!!

Totally sweet and innocent… Then strutting her stuff! And….doing a booty dance haha. The dinner we went to was at a friends house that lives a few blocks from us, but they went totally all out because it was an auction fundraiser.

My mouth is watering looking at all these images again! Their backyard is AMAZING! And one of the dads that helped put the dinner together did this amazing seafood broil! Are you kidding me??!!
And, yup!  I logged my tripod with me here too haha.  Again…it’s only a few blocks away 😉 As the sun went down and the drinks set in… 🙂

On me…

Dress- 7 For All Mankind (eBay)
Belt- Vintage
Shoes- Birkenstock “Grenada” (hand me down from my mom!)
On Maya…
Dress- Crewcuts (thrifted)
Leggings- Tea Collection (thrifted)
Shoes- Umi “Alvina” (Nordstrom Rack)
Keeping it Real…
The shutter always catches us while we are looking where to stand!
AND…I had to use a lens that made us look SO distorted because it was a really tight space!  I look like I’m super short with a ginormous head and feet!!  Don’t get me started on my arms!  All that to say…the lens you shoot with ABSOLUTELY changes how you look!  When they say the “camera adds 10lbs”.  It’s RIGHT!  I take phone images and I’m like…wow!  I look good!
Sadly, I don’t post phone images here haha.
Seriously…I can’t even with her dance moves!
I LOVE THEM!!!
The stage Maya was (ok, IS) in right now…
NOT loving pictures.
Thankfully, I get a few in here and there.
My motto…. “I only need ONE!!” haha
(all pictures taken with a shutter release and tripod, except ones of Maya :))

White Tank + Distressed Levi’s Mini + Platform Clogs | Twinning (ish!)

We had a lot of days towards the end of summer where we  weren’t supposed to go outside due to smoke from wildfires all around us (Canada, Eastern Washington, even Oregon depending on the wind!)

I have to admit that it was pretty depressing and NOT the way I wanted to spend our last weeks of summer…

BUT, you have to put it all in perspective.  I am so thankful that we still have our home.  I cannot even imagine all the families that were DIRECTLY affected.  Don’t even get me started on the animals!

SO, we had a tiny break where the air was “Moderate” . You can still see in the background that it’s not great… We only went outside for a few minutes, but we had total cabin fever and needed to get OUT!
Can you tell? Pretty sure it’s obvious by now that we are both obsessed with clogs!

And Sven spoils us!!! Totally obsessed with straw bags for summer too!
And as the temps get cooler…just throw a cardigan over everything!I can’t even…. On me…

Sweater- Theory (old, similar here)
Top- Wilt (thrifted, similar here)
On Maya…
Top- Mini Boden (thrifted)
Jeans-Levi’s (thrifted DIY raw hem, similar here)

Whoops!  Forgot to post these with the original post!
Maya was off to the side telling me what faces I should make…ha!
Oh, don’t mind me…just retying. Ha! Oh…I guess I wasn’t supposed to dance too….

Leather Jacket + Tied silk top + White Joggers + Ankle Wrap Sandals | Date Night

I recently wore this outfit when the Huz and I went out to dinner in Victoria BC for our anniversary.  I brought my camera and tripod, but it sat in the corner the entire trip!

I got a lot of compliments though, SO…I decided to put it all back on when we got home and take some pics really quick! haha.

I’ve been knotting so many shirts lately.   My torso is so long that my shirts never stay tucked in, and I like the drape and look of the knot.  Even on a silk top-who knew!?

On me…

Leather Jacket- Remake Remodel (eBay for $16!! similar here and cute faux option here)
Top- Geren Ford.  (old)
Cross Body Bag- DVF (eBay, similar here and less expensive here)

Belted Boho Dress + Sandals

Truth be told, these were taken back in the middle of June.  This summer has been a whirlwind, but I’m determined to post some of these while the sun is still shining haha.

I used to be jeans only, but I’m really loving wearing dresses more often.  The ease…the comfort…and they instantly make . you look like you put some effort into your outfit.  In reality, they are a total time cheat-WIN!

Love the little faux leather straps with the leather tassles! Maya on the other hand, has ALWAYS been a dress girl!  🙂 And…thankfully also a world class cuddler! Hahaha.  Trying really hard to be grumpy.  Ok, I can laugh about it now… Thankfully, it usually ends up in laughter.

On me…

Belt- Vintage
Shoes- Kork-Ease “Rebecca” (thrifted for $7!)

White tank + Destroyed Skinnies + Birkenstocks (mom uniform)

Some days mean fun outfits for date nights or girls night out, but…those are few and far between. 😏

Most days and nights, I’m like this… Just happy to have almost made it through another week! 🙌🏻 Maya was taking a bath when I took these, so…just me.  Quickly outside.  Such is life nowadays…

On me…

Jeans- DL1961 Emma (eBay, similar here)
Shoes- Birkenstock “Granada” (hand me down from my mom!)
Keeping it Real…
Because…I always need to adjust, and sometimes get caught…
GRRR!  This is the one thing I don’t like about taking my own pics.  Nobody there to say that my
shirt is caught up on my booty… AND….why is it when I do a hair flip, it looks ridiculous, yet others do it and it looks amazing?
😂😂
Clearly….NOT amazing!
😂

Jumpsuits + Birkenstocks | Twinning!

Of all the clothes I have (and the amount is a little ridiculous…), this jumpsuit gets the most compliments!  Might be because I wear it so much haha.  But, it’s SO comfy, super easy one step dressing, and soooo nice to wear in the HEAT! And…could you DIE over Maya’s cute jumpsuit?!!  I want it in MY SIZE!  I scored it on eBay (like new!) for $14 (retailed for $160-what the WHAT?!!)  I couldn’t wait to put her in it!  It’s SUPER lightweight, so again…great for the heat waves we’ve had this summer! Her face…
LOOOOVE this next one! I recently scored these pair of Birkenstocks for me for $25!  They didn’t even look like they’d been worn!  Yay me!  Maya’s were another eBay score for $14

On me…

Jumpsuit- Carmar (eBay, similar here)
Shoes- Birkenstock “Gizeh” (thrifted
On Maya…
Jumpsuit- Zimmerman (ebay, but similar here)
Shoes- Birkenstock “Taormina” (thrifted)

Both of our faces!  Hahaha
People always tell me I’m so lucky Maya is so good in front of the camera, and that she likes having her picture taken.
Um….not so much. This one though… 🙂

Day Hike with Kids Near Seattle | Franklin Falls

One of the things I love most about Seattle, it’s all the GORGEOUS nature that’s all around us within close proximity!

I only wish we got out and enjoyed it more as a family!  It’s always “on the list” but sadly…the list is long!

We did this actual hike to Franklin Falls almost a year ago, last September.  I kept meaning to blog it, but the fall is my busiest time with work, so… Just now getting around to it!  I really would love to add to this series and find some more fun family hikes!  We all had so much fun, and the scenery is just breathtaking!  Feel free to leave suggestions in the comments!

It’s about 60 miles outside of Seattle, 2 miles round trip, and only 400 feet of elevation.

Right in the beginning of the hike, you can walk off to the side onto these huge boulders.

So funny to see little Maya!

Or…littler. 😉 The trails are very well maintained! It’s a little steep going down into the water, so keep that in mind when wondering about appropriate ages to take your kids. Sooooo pretty!! And a little breeze from the falls 🙂 These steep rocks line the sides near the bottom.

Tips-

  • Come early to avoid the crowds!
  • Wear comfortable shoes.  Hiking shoes aren’t necessary, but I wouldn’t wear sandals.
  • Layer.  There are a lot of trees, so even on hot days, you might want a light top layer, and it’s breezy by the falls.
  • Have some bug spray handy.
  • You need a pass to park, and buying one ahead of time is a good idea!

Chambray Shirt dress + White Skinnies + Saltwater Sandals (Twinning!)

I’m all about chambray right now.

It’s soooo comfy for the warmer temps! Technically, I think this is a dress, but…yeah that’s not happening 🙂 LOVE!! Maya was adamant about Star Lily being in our pics…

Honestly, whatever makes her happy and willing, I’m IN at this point! We got her for Maya a few years ago for Christmas.  Costco had them (for $50!), and I KNEW the minute I saw it, that Maya would love her!

I was right 🙂
Twinning is always winning! 🙂 AND….haha.

These were taken over TWO months ago, when I could still pick Ruby up!

She’s now 5 months old and weighs 65 lbs!!

SO…no more picking her up 🙂 Such a little nugget!!

On me…

Top- Rails (eBay, similar here and loving this long sleeve one!)
Sandals- Saltwater Sandals

Pretty typical face from Maya…
And yes…for those following along for a while, STILL licking. Before she heard the shutter clicking.  It seemed to mesmerize her, which was great!

Happy Birthday to me! | 44

Ok, so my birthday was back on the 18th, but there were a few delays celebrating, and then more delays on me working on the pics.

I just realized I haven’t posted for almost 2 months!  There was a time when I posted every single day.  What the what??  Then it went to 3 times a week… Then a few times a week.

And now…

Well…

Here’s some pics from my birthday celebration. I’m obsessed with anything cowl neck!!  If it has it in the back, I’m always in! That grin though… Slightly out of focus, but whatever…. Getting the Huz in front of the camera requires a special occasion, and I WILL pull the bday card!!  🙂 Loooooove this next one! Maya fake laughing…um…? One of the reasons we didn’t celebrate a little sooner was that Maya fell off a bench at Girl Scout camp and cut her head open.  This kid can handle pain like a CHAMP, but…trips to the Dr and treatment…not so much.  Trips to two different Urgent Cares later…she was totally fine, but our dinner reservation was not.  BIG thanks to my parents who had dinner waiting for us when we finally came home.

A few days later we celebrated for real, and…you’d never know she had 5 stitches in her head 🙂 Maya’s in a “I’m going to make any kind of face but a real smile for pictures” phase…it’s neat. But she sure does love her Meme and BOPO.

At some point I’m hoping to get back to blogging here regularly.  I miss it.  I miss taking pics with Maya.  I miss the documentation of what’s going on in our lives, because honestly…  In the blur of our chaotic life, I forget… I forget the little moments, and to be honest, I have to stop and really think to remember the big moments.  This blog was my reminder.

Truth be told, it was also my highlight reel.  And while that’s not a true depiction of our day to day life, I need that to look back on sometimes.

SO…hopefully we will get back to this more regularly, but maybe we won’t and that’s ok too.

it’s blurry goodness 🙂

Knit Jumpsuit + Distressed Denim Jacket + Studded Tennis Shoes

We’ve been super lucky to have a LOT of warm sunny days, but it’s still interspersed with some chilly mornings and evenings.

This weekend was totally bonkers.  Super sunny one then an hour later a down pour.  THEN…sunny again, oh and wait…more rain! That means lots of layers in the morning, that you peel off during the day, and then add back on at night… 🙂 I’m seriously obsessed with knit jumpsuits now!  You literally feel like you are wearing pajamas!  Yet, you cam make them look put together too! These have a fun stripe down the side. How cute are Maya’s pink Docs!!?? Our neighbor came home.  Don’t mind us… 🙂 She kills me with these poses!

A) Truth be told….I took these THREE MONTHS AGO!
Oh, the days of blogging daily are GONE!
BUT…c’mon, Seattle weather means I can pretty much insert anything in and make it seem like I
just took it!
And…I have no idea what was going on here (because…3 MONTHS AGO!) but I’m assuming a
neighbor walked by haha.  As they do.
I can’t even… I almost didn’t post this, because…my LORD…what is that FACE?!!  But obviously
Maya sees that all the time, so…wow.  Sorry Maya.  And if you scroll down to these “keeping it
reals” well, this is IT! haha 🙂
Me adjusting, and Maya…well, who knows what that face is for 🙂 Us just seeing our neighbor… 🙂
And can we talk about Maya’s gap toothed SMILE?  GAH!  I miss it!
