The Huz and I were long overdue for a date night! We had gotten a gift certificate from his boss for….CHRISTMAS, but just hadn’t gotten the chance to use it until now!
Ok….these were taken about 3 weeks ago now…as per usual!
BUT…
We went to the Pink Door downtown, and I decided to sass it up a little bit more than my usual around the neighborhood date night. This dress is SO comfy, and I love that it can be dressed up or down.
I’m all about small cross body bags when I go out. Easy to wear and not at all cumbersome!
AND…I even managed to coerce the Huz out for a few!!
Maya was not as happy about it. She was a little bummed that we were leaving her behind…
I knew it would get chilly in the evening, so I brought along this leather bomber.
I think it’s such a fun alternative to the classic biker leather jacket!
And these sandals are SO comfy! I accidentally wrapped them oppositely, but I kind of like it!
Dying over this vintage Hanna Andersson dress!!
SO CUTE!! Even if she’s giving total attitude…
On me…

I LOVE these shots! Her leaping into my arms and looking directly at the camera on the tripod….as if there is anyone there!
Loooooooove!!
Maya saw this picture and said “Look! We’re both twirling at the same time!!” 👯💃🏼💃🏼 I’ve tried to do this a few times and failed miserably or…comically! 😂. This time…
And…convinced the Huz to get in a few!
She loves her Meme and BOPO!
And…this dress was made for twirling! As most Hanna Andersson dresses are! Which is why they are a favorite of ours!

Maya is all about saying “NO PICTURES! I don’t want to go take pictures!!”
And…Maya running and jumping her hand in front of the camera!
AND…my laugh. Go big or go home, right?
Please excuse my blindingly pale legs!! I keep meaning to use self tanner, and then…
We BOTH were wearing things under our dresses, which was good, because although it was 80 degrees…it was windy!! I’ve gathered a bunch of diaper covers for Maya to wear under dresses in the summer. Size 18-24 month and 2T still fit, because she’s not wearing a diaper! Super cute and a lot cooler than leggings.
I gave Maya the choice of what we should do. I said I’d copy whatever she did 🙂
Attempted to get a shoe shot…haha.
I can’t even handle her….so freaking cute!!
Ps-she has a mint in her mouth (bribe anyone??!), so that’s why her mouth is all puckered in all these ha!
Looooove the back of this dress!
I was a liiiiiiittle nervous about her doing kung fu kicks in these clogs, but…not to worry!
Popcorn and seaweed to keep her in one spot for a shoe shot, but I actually liked the one where she was lying down better! Oh, and sports came all week equaled more bruises than normal…I edited those out 🙂
The focusing set up haha.
If you look close, you can see the watermelon mint I had to bribe her with to get in a shot with me 🙂
Can we talk about this gorgeous dress too??! It’s from the same woman who made the cool tie back gray dress in
I shot an “Instagram Story” on how I took this next shot. Not rocket science, but having kids do some kind of fun activity is a good way to get fun action shots.
And she ran back and forth jumping over, and over, and over. Great way to tire them out too! haha.
Her face!! 🙂

And…we don’t always stick the dismounts 🙂
Nor do I stick the focus 100% of the time… 😉
It was hard to distract her from the car, but a good swing usually does it!
Practicing her kung fu moves…
Super cool that Jackson was able to come over too! So weird not having him in the house anymore… Maya was in heaven having both brothers back for the evening!
SO rare to get all these guys in front of the camera!

My mom took all of the images of me and me with Maya because my car got broken into, and they took my tripod. I mean, WHO steals a tripod??!! But…they left the more expensive flash that I randomly had left in one of the seat pockets, so I guess I’ll just say thank you. In any case…I took some of my mom with Maya too, and this is now one of my new favorites of them!
And because I loved it so much, I wanted to see if my mom could get one of me and Maya like this. BUT…if there is one thing I know as a photographer. You can very rarely replicate an image that you want. BUT…love these too 🙂
On me…
And…putting leaves on my head is way more fun than giving me a kiss. 😉
