Can we just pretend I took a shower?

Ok, good.  Now let’s carry on.  🙂

Ever since starting this blog, I’ve started dressing up a little more than I have since I started working from home (which was 6 years ago).  The Huz is really liking that part 🙂  I’ve always had the other clothes, but kind of fell into a rut.  When you work from home, are a stay at home mom, or in my case both, it can just be easier to stay in your sweats haha.  Most days, I don’t take my shower until later in the day, which means hair in a bun…  All that said, I feel SO much better about myself when I do get out of my sweats and actually put some thought into my clothes.  Even if I don’t make it into the shower haha 🙂

So, I may not have taken a shower, nor put a lot of thought into my outfit, but at least I’m not in my sweats 🙂blog H&M Army coat J Brand Jeans Black Frye Harness Boots-2 blog H&M Army coat J Brand Jeans Black Frye Harness Boots-3Oh, but wait…at least we don’t match!1Maya 103 weeks rain boots vest-1On me…

I love an interesting back…

I don’t know why, but I’ve always been drawn to clothes that look fairly simple from the front, but then have interesting features on the back.  Mullet clothing if you will 🙂  Low back dresses get me every time.  Cut outs, embellishments, and little surprise when you turn around.  Love it!

Ps-can we all just imagine that I didn’t mess up the focus with the self timer on the full length shots?  Ok, thanks 🙂Blog Rachel Pally Cashmere Cape AG the Tights Vintage Frye Boots-1I have had these vintage Frye boots for a long time (don’t even remember how long!)  They are a little banged up, but I like the dichotomy of the cashmere sweater, gold jewelry and then worn in boots 🙂 Blog Rachel Pally Cashmere Cape AG the Tights Vintage Frye Boots-2I already wore this lariat I scored from Gorjana-Griffin last week, and I think it’s safe to say that you will be seeing it a lot more.  Love it! Blog Rachel Pally Cashmere Cape AG the Tights Vintage Frye Boots-3 Blog Rachel Pally Cashmere Cape AG the Tights Vintage Frye Boots-4The only bad thing about low backs or cut out backs.  What to wear under it?  I’ve dared to wear this with nothing and just a bra, but most times I put a cami or a long sleeve t-shirt under it. Blog Rachel Pally Cashmere Cape AG the Tights Vintage Frye Boots-5 Completely unrelated, but I tried ALL summer to get Maya to wear this hat-no go!  Suddenly in the last month, she’s become obsessed with it…  OK! So…here’s a little flashback for you.  I promise, I’m wearing the boots too 🙂Blog Rachel Pally Cashmere Cape AG the Tights Vintage Frye Boots-9On me… (both now and when I was pregnant :))

You don’t have to spend a ton of money on a cool leather jacket…

I got this vintage leather jacket at Funky Janes for $25!!  I LOVE IT!  It totally looks like a $500 jacket, yet I know that nobody else is wearing it 🙂Blog Vintage Leather Jacket Black Blank Denim Frye Boots-1 Blog Vintage Leather Jacket Black Blank Denim Frye Boots-2 Blog Vintage Leather Jacket Black Blank Denim Frye Boots-3 Blog Vintage Leather Jacket Black Blank Denim Frye Boots-4Then when I got home from the shoot a few hours later, it was SUNNY!  It was a little chilly, so I kept the scarf on that I had thrown on (but forgot to photograph!) as I left. Am I the only one that gets sad every time their kid moves up a size?  It’s quickly replaced by excitement over the new bigger sized clothes, but still…a little mourning goes on 🙂1Maya104 weeks Janie Jack Old Navy

Super Mom Tip-
I could talk all day long about my love of thrifting.  The thrill of the hunt.  The excitement over finding things at 90-95% off!  You do NOT have to spend a kazillion dollars to look good or even wear designer items.  If you get overwhelmed at Thrift stores like Value Village/Goodwill or don’t have the patience for eBay, find a local consignment store.  Or not so local.  It might be worth a drive to score a vintage leather jacket for $25 🙂  PLUS, if you drop your clothes off there, you get $$ back which means the jacket could be FREE!!   ThredUp is also a great online source for both gently used clothing for children and women!  Their customer service is amazing, and the quality of clothing is outstanding.

Vince Skinnies + IntiMint top = Comfy Mom Style

A lot of the things I will wear on this blog will be minority outfits.  I.e.-when me and the Huz get to go on date nights, the rarer girl’s night out, or me just wanting to test a look to see if it works!

THIS is what I wear on a daily basis 🙂  Skinny jeans (with stretch!!) and a comfy t-shirt!  I had heard about StyleMint on various blogs and magazines, but for some reason had never shopped there (why??!).  It’s AMAZING!  Great everyday t’s and comfy clothes that are super stylish (duh, it’s the by the Olsen twins).  Best of all…it’s affordable (especially if you load up when they have a sale like I did :))  The particular top I’m wearing below is from the IntiMint section.  Which means, they not only feel like pj’s…they are haha.  I don’t think they look like it though…

Even though I live in Seattle, I wear flip flops CONSTANTLY from March-October!  My favorites are Havaianas.  If you are like me, you think “why in the WORLD would I spend that much money on flip flops??”  Well, a) I got 2 pairs at Costco when they had them for $9.99 and a few others at Nordstrom Rack b) they are so comfy!  There’s something in the rubber that makes them soft, and they don’t rub!BlogVinceSkinnyGreyIntiMintFF-1

It’s easy to dress this outfit up a little.  Like adding a fun scarf… blogVinceSkinnyGreyIntiMint-2And colorful shoes!  blogVinceSkinnyGreyIntiMint-4Love the dolman style of this top…blogVinceSkinnyGreyIntiMint-3 Lastly, as it gets a little colder I’ll wear my other staple…boots! blogVinceSkinnyGreyIntiMintScarfFrye-1n blogVinceSkinnyGreyIntiMintScarfFrye-2nMaya loves her boots too!  Oh, and she loves sitting in puddles 🙂1Maya93wksBlueRuffleTopBootsAll 3 of these looks are super comfy, allow you to chase your kid around, AND look good-WIN 🙂
