Creative Layering with Vintage Dress

Ok, so I know the StyleChallenge is over, but this was one of the last ones I did before it ended.  This one was “Layer in an unexpected way”.  That threw me for a while, so I kept putting it off 🙂

I decided to bust out this vintage dress/nightgown/slip that I LOVE, but have never worn.  I threw a long tunic sweater over it, some capri jeggings, and honestly, couldn’t have been more comfortable!  The other funny thing?  I had 4 different random people compliment me on my outfit as we were out and about running errands.  Never had that happen before… So, yay again for stepping out of my comfort zone!

On a sad note.  Totally ripped the strap getting out of my car, so…I might have to turn it into a skirt 😦  Good thing I documented the outfit ha!Blog Vintage Dress Design History Sweater Converse-1 Blog Vintage Dress Design History Sweater Converse-2My attempt at not just standing there like a nerd.  SO…instead I’m kicking some rock like a nerd 🙂 Blog Vintage Dress Design History Sweater Converse-3 Blog Vintage Dress Design History Sweater Converse-4Why, yes, I’m sure the camera would love to take a picture of your grass, Peanut 🙂 Blog Vintage Dress Design History Sweater Converse-5 Blog Vintage Dress Design History Sweater Converse-6 Blog Vintage Dress Design History Sweater Converse-7 Blog Vintage Dress Design History Sweater Converse-8 Blog Vintage Dress Design History Sweater Converse-9 On me…

Keeping it simple…

Day 22 of the StyleChallenge was keep it simple with skinnies and a sweater.  Well, that was pretty much my daily uniform before this challenge!  Plus, it was totally sunny again, so I amended the challenge and kept it simple with skinnies and top. 🙂blog ZaraTop DL1961 Emma Cole Haan-1 blog ZaraTop DL1961 Emma Cole Haan-2These Cole Haan shoes have a little bit of a wedge, but are SO comfy because they have Nike Air cushioning. blog ZaraTop DL1961 Emma Cole Haan-3 blog ZaraTop DL1961 Emma Cole Haan-4Oh, you know…just saying hi to our neighbor 🙂 blog ZaraTop DL1961 Emma Cole Haan-5 blog ZaraTop DL1961 Emma Cole Haan-6Another stick! 😉 blog ZaraTop DL1961 Emma Cole Haan-7 blog ZaraTop DL1961 Emma Cole Haan-8 blog ZaraTop DL1961 Emma Cole Haan-9 blog ZaraTop DL1961 Emma Cole Haan-10 Other Style Challenge Days here…

Sunshine, a kimono and…sandals!!! YAY!

So, I mixed two more challenges into today again.  Cheating?  I don’t think so… 🙂

Day 5: Change out your handbag, and Day 8; Break out an item you haven’t worn in at least six months.

I think my saving grace is that they were NOT the same thing!  But…it was sunny, so it was time to break out of the winter wear-woo hoo!!

To be honest.  I’ve never worn this kimono.  I’ve tried a few times, but it never seemed to work.  Today it did.  That said…I think I will save it for nights out, because I was constantly pulling it back over my shoulders as I was doing this and that.Blog Winter Kate Kimono HM Tank Genetic Denim ShoeMint Eila Sandal-1 Blog Winter Kate Kimono HM Tank Genetic Denim ShoeMint Eila Sandal-2And OMG, SANDALS!!!  Oh, how I’ve missed you!!  It was kind of nice not caring if my toes were painted for 4 months, but I will gladly paint them (for a while haha :)) Blog Winter Kate Kimono HM Tank Genetic Denim ShoeMint Eila Sandal-3Here’s the 2nd challenge.  Swap out your handbag.  Or…in a mom’s case- big a** bag!!  If you carry a traditional diaper bag or opt for a big bag that you dump everything in, we need a big bag.  Diapers, snacks, possible change of clothes, drinks, plus our stuff?!  I love this bag from Foley & Corinna!!  I may or may not have it in 3 colors :}  I originally splurged on it as a “briefcase” when I worked in the corporate world.  Then, it became my go to carry on.  Then…diaper bag!  LOVE IT!  Hence, me hunting various colors down on eBay, because I believe they are sold out? Wear a Bold Print

Yes, I went back a few days in the challenge, to before I really committed. 🙂

It’s probably pretty obvious that I’m not a real “print” person.  The main reason for that being that I love keeping things for years (duh! haha)  It’s a lot easier to wear a solid item that you’ve had for 5+ years than to pull out a print that you’ve worn a few times.  People are more likely to think “Didn’t I see you in that here, here, and HERE??”  So…I keep my prints to a minimum, and make them simple.  That said, when I saw this top on eBay, for a steal…I had to get it. 🙂Blog Vince Sweater CoreyLynnCalter Top Goldsign Jeans Converse-1 Blog Vince Sweater CoreyLynnCalter Top Goldsign Jeans Converse-2 Blog Vince Sweater CoreyLynnCalter Top Goldsign Jeans Converse-3And these Converse for $5??!!  Literally before I went to the thrift store I said.  “The only real thing I want is a pair of black Converse.”  DONE!  They were a little sketchy, but a run through the washer, and they are perfect! WhoWhatWear 30 Day Wardrobe Challenge // Day 23 // Wear a Color You Have Not Worn in a While

So, I know I skipped a few days.  As we near the end of the 30 Challenge, I’m going to jump around to ones I haven’t done.  I’ll still include all 30 in my final post, but won’t blog them all as individual posts.  A) I have too many to catch up on, and B) That way I can slam through a few without Maya/while she’s sleeping 🙂

I tried a few things on for this one.  I don’t wear a lot of color, so the few things I tried on that I hadn’t worn in a while, well…there is a reason I haven’t worn them!  I didn’t want to put something on that I didn’t really like (ok, yes, that probably means I should add it to the donate pile!!).  Plus, I have to admit.  As much fun as I’ve been having mixing it up, I really just wanted to wear a sweater, skinnies, and boots (which btw, was today’s challenge haha!).  I still wanted to throw some color in there, so I went with a scarf.  Scarfs are such a great way to add some fun to a simple outfit, and you can always get them for cheap!  I always get scarves when I travel as souvenirs.  Got this one from Tanzania for less than $10, when I went there almost exactly 6 years ago!Blog Zara Sweater Vince Destroyed Skinnies Lace Up Boots-1 Blog Zara Sweater Vince Destroyed Skinnies Lace Up Boots-2 Blog Zara Sweater Vince Destroyed Skinnies Lace Up Boots-3 Blog Zara Sweater Vince Destroyed Skinnies Lace Up Boots-4 Blog Zara Sweater Vince Destroyed Skinnies Lace Up Boots-5 Blog Zara Sweater Vince Destroyed Skinnies Lace Up Boots-6 Blog Zara Sweater Vince Destroyed Skinnies Lace Up Boots-7 Blog Zara Sweater Vince Destroyed Skinnies Lace Up Boots-8 Blog Zara Sweater Vince Destroyed Skinnies Lace Up Boots-9 Blog Zara Sweater Vince Destroyed Skinnies Lace Up Boots-10 Blog Zara Sweater Vince Destroyed Skinnies Lace Up Boots-11 Blog Zara Sweater Vince Destroyed Skinnies Lace Up Boots-12 Blog Zara Sweater Vince Destroyed Skinnies Lace Up Boots-13 Blog Zara Sweater Vince Destroyed Skinnies Lace Up Boots-14 Other Style Challenge Days here…

WhoWhatWear 30 Day Wardrobe Challenge // Day 18 // Test out a new tuck

I’m pretty sure they meant a new way to tuck something in, but I am not a big tucker-inner (yes, I know that isn’t a word :)).  I love when I see others tuck sweaters into their jeans, but when I do it, I just feel frumpy!  So, I thought I’d try tucking something into a pair of boyfriend jeans that I’ve always just worn tight sweaters with.
