Girl’s Night Out!

I’ve mentioned my girl’s weekend a few times, but honestly only took pics one night. My camera is a tad cumbersome, so mainly it was iphone pics everywhere. And I mean everywhere haha. Whatever 🙂 My friend Darcy took these of me before we went out on Saturday. Can I just say how much I LOVE these pants?? I talked about how much I coveted them in this post,. When I found them at the Nordstrom “Clear the Rack” sale (extra 25% off red clearance!!!) I had to pull the trigger! When I was bending over to slather M with sunscreen I realized I should probably go and put some boy shorts on underneath this dress! :} Because inevitably you have the wet noodle moments during the day, and nobody needs to see any of that 😉

In other news. SOMEONE went potty in the toilet ALL BY HERSELF (with no prompting!!!) today! SO INCREDIBLY PROUD AND EXCITED!!! I’m not under any delusion that it will be smooth sailing from here on out, but still. YIPPEE!

Words cannot describe how excited I am to be heading down to Santa Barbara this afternoon for a girl’s weekend. SO EXCITED!! Of course Maya chose Wednesday as the day to finally give in and try potty training again. She did SO well Thursday. We had her Little Gym in the morning, so she wore a pull up there, but went both before and after WOO HOO! All that said. For all you mother’s out there, you know that the first few days are totally mixed with overwhelming pride, excitement, joy, frustration, patience testing to the max, and…lots of clean ups. Oh, and not much free time to pack/get all the stuff done that you hope to get done before you leave for vacation.

Certainly didn’t have time to take pics, but thankfully I took these last week before I had a shoot.Love, love, love this sweater from Free People! I love any kind of white/cream top that has a little fun mixed in. You can’t really see them, but Maya’s running to meet my parents as they come down the block from their walk (that we had to miss out on :() They were nice enough to watch Maya while I had to work. Once she sees them, it’s “Bye Mommy! Going to Meme and BOPO’s!!” 🙂 On me…

Did I mention how excited I am to be going out of town?? Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE that I get to stay home with Maya everyday, and I feel SO fortunate that I’m able to work doing what I love to do. All that said…it’s a tad overwhelming at times trying to do both well, and I am very very ready for some girl time, wine, and kid free relaxation!

Usually it’s my parents that watch Maya when me and the Huz go out on a date, but we were long overdue to celebrate my dad’s bday. So, we got a babysitter and all went out-yay!I’m so loving mixing flares in with my skinnies. Honestly, I totally forgot I had these :} Went looking for a different pair, found these, tried them on, and liked them even more! Score one for the hoarder in me 🙂 Yes, she has a sock on her hand. Truth be told, these espadrilles only lasted for a nano second before I put flats on again, but I am so tired of seeing myself in flats haha. I think every mom should put heels on every once in a while. Totally takes off at least 5 lbs, makes you feel just a little bit more put together (flats do that too, unless….you wear them EVERYDAY), and dare I say it…sexier? Who couldn’t use all that?! Not really that realistic day to day, but a very nice change here and there 🙂Having the heel be a wedge makes it a little easier/steadier. Thank you wind, for making these shots look way more dramatic than they were 🙂 Never ever will I get tired of these crazy hug tackles. Hope she doesn’t either 🙂 “Look Mommy. Insects!!” She’s obsessed with finding ants, spiders, or any kind of bug/insect 🙂

Today was 57, which was soooooo nice! Maya rarely likes putting coats/sweaters on, so I actually didn’t have to fight her on that today. Yay!!I just got these for $17 with free shipping off ebay-LOVE THEM. I know, I know. How many jeans does one girl need? This brand fits me really well, so…one more? :} I can’t believe I didn’t get a close up of the rips. They have black ~~gunmetal~~ (I think that’s what it is? When I looked them up online it’s called glo mesh backing, huh?) underneath!! I’ll get it next time, because I will be wearing these a lot! Maya had her first little gym class today, and she did so great. She was a little nervous and clingy at first, but warmed right up about half way through. So cute!!

Yup…all black again. Well, at least my feet had some fun. I have a thing for red shoes. They can take a completely simple outfit and make it so much better. Super Wide…

I’m on the hunt for the perfect super wide pants. When I saw these railroad striped Hudson’s at a thrift store for $7, I was in love! She was so freaking cute trying to sneak up on this seagull. Sadly, she wasn’t stealthy enough… Watching all the geese with their babies… And then…rocks! Duh 🙂 I keep buying Maya Levi’s whenever I find them at a thrift store for a few bucks, with the idea that I will cut them into baby cut offs (I just might die from the cuteness!!!), but then…I end up liking them on her as is and haven’t cut a single pair ;/ These little crop boyfriend cut? LOVE! I could just eat her up! Admittedly not the best shoes to wear on a rocky beach, but no ankles were broken in the making of these photos 🙂 Check out the size of that rock!! Go Maya! On me…

Itching for spring…

The nugget has been sick the last 3 days, and it’s been pouring. By Sunday, we were both chomping at the bit to get outside! I’ve also been dying to wear some more “spring” clothing. Don’t get me wrong, I looooove sweaters and boots, but by the end of winter, I’m sick of them. I want to wear lighter colors and sandals! Well, sandals weren’t really that practical since it was barely 50, so…I just went with white and a lighter denim jacket. Heels aren’t really all that practical as a mom chasing your toddler, but when they have a wedge it’s a little easier/steadier/more comfortable. Truth be told, these got swapped out after a bit for some moccasins 🙂 And here comes the Huz with Max! She couldn’t have been happier. ROCKS!! haha. She just kept taking handfuls and making piles. Hey, whatever makes her happy 🙂

All black kind of day…

So, I mentioned in yesterdays post that Maya had been a bit of a butt. Well, the more I thought about it today, the more I realized that-

A) She hadn’t been that big of a butt. She really never is… Did she want to run around the house in her diaper for an hour longer than I wanted her to? Yes. Did she want to make a mess out of things I had just put away? Yes. Did she cry for a few minutes when I told her she had to put some clothes on so we could go play outside? Yes. Did she demand to wear a “Princess dress” instead of the original outfit I wanted to put on her. Yes. Was any of that really that bad? No. Which brings me to…

B) It was me who was being the butt. Lack of sleep and a few other things contributed to my mood/lack of patience, but basically she was mirroring my attitude! And I needed an attitude adjustment. For her sake as much as my own. She is inherently happy, which I absolutely love and am grateful for. Which I need to remember and not take for granted.

C) This, I honestly should have known. She woke up the next morning with a hacking cough. Then when she woke up from her afternoon nap, she had a 102 temperature, so…mother of the year? Not going to me. :{

I absolutely LOVE that I get to stay home with her and hang out with her. She makes me laugh, makes me feel more love that I ever knew possible, and really is my little buddy. All that said, we need a break from each other sometimes. My parents were kind enough to offer to hang out with her for a few hours while I went and ran errands by myself. It was exactly what we both needed.

My mom got these next few pictures of me and of me and Maya when I dropped her off. I only got a couple of her as we were walking over to my parents house, because she is on a mission to get to Meme and BOPO’s once she knows that’s where we are going 🙂 On me…
