The Huz and I celebrated our 8th anniversary on 8/8. I’m a bit of a numbers nerd, so I was kind of excited about this one!
We were super lucky that my parents were able to watch Maya (and they took her to SO many amazing places!!), so we could escape town and have some one on one time. It was SO needed and so amazing!
We went up to Whistler, and I only took my camera out once. For like 5 minutes! Actually exactly 5 minutes! I just looked at the time stamp on the images haha. The Huz isn’t a huge fan of pictures, and honestly it was REALLY smokey due to the all wildfires that are going on.
SO…this was it. We had gone to an earlier dinner and I convinced the Huz to take a few pics outside our hotel. This was a pretty busy walking path, and a group of 30 somethings walked by and asked if we were taking pictures for Tinder!
UM….WTF?
No…
Nope, not awkward. OMG, and I just now noticed my remote on the top of the fence post! Oh well. Too lazy to remove that now!
He’s a good sport 🙂
LOOOOOVE these next two of us!!
We took a walk one day to Lost Lake, and it was SO pretty. But kind of eery with all the smoke! AND…after being outside for a few hours, we were both feeling the effects of the smoke. Kind of sad, but also nice to lay in our hotel room reading-aka HEAVEN!
Here’s a few iPhone pics from that walk. And…NO FILTER! So odd looking back on these, and seeing just how smokey it was…
Nope, no filter!!
From our first night out… (iPhone)

We went to the same restaurant both nights!
We thought about going to another restaurant the second night, but we had so much fun sitting at the bar at Bar Oso, that we went there again the second night!
I highly recommend going early and sitting at the bar! The first night we sat at the bartender’s end and watched him make all these AMAZING cocktails! Some serious love went into them, and the Huz benefited from a few 😉 I stuck with boring wine…
The second night we sat at the food end. They plate all the food right in front of you!! And the attention to detail is AMAZING to watch and…eat!!
And, of course I had to take pictures of our food!! Sadly, I only took them with my phone, but…still

On me…
The Huz is like….Um….

And then…
LOVE this back!!
And But….love her more!
But they came right back on for a dance off!
Oh, and the side details of these super comfy clogs?
and then I decided to tie the back of this tee for a more fitted look…
I can’t even!
Seriously, so cute with the tied back right??!!
I can’t even…I LOVE capturing the way we look at each other!!
My dad goes for a walk in the evening, and we see him when we are out playing after dinner.

And sometimes she grabs the remote and starts shooting a kazillion pictures.

I know, I know…I totally should have tried to do the red dress emoji twirl!
That pose!!

Aaaaaaand not quite so sweet face haha.
Wait for it…
I’m ALWAYS a sucker for an interesting back! If you are unsure of a dress code. You can play it casual in the front, and then….add a pop of fun in the back!

I remember when Kylie was 18 months old!!
Totally nailed the Charlie’s Angels pose!

Um…stretchy jeans??

I mean…what’s the good of taking pics in front of your house if you can’t have a glass of wine while doing so?

Because no matter how big, they are always our babies right??

Playing with the remote. Aka…taking a picture of herself!

Two things about this. YES, the guy didn’t realize he was walking into our shot until the LAST minute. Oh, and THEN..Maya thought it would be hilarious to pull my top down!
I have no idea what’s going on here haha.
I LOVE these shots! Her leaping into my arms and looking directly at the camera on the tripod….as if there is anyone there!
Loooooooove!!
Maya saw this picture and said “Look! We’re both twirling at the same time!!” 👯💃🏼💃🏼 I’ve tried to do this a few times and failed miserably or…comically! 😂. This time…
And…convinced the Huz to get in a few!
She loves her Meme and BOPO!
And…this dress was made for twirling! As most Hanna Andersson dresses are! Which is why they are a favorite of ours!

Maya is all about saying “NO PICTURES! I don’t want to go take pictures!!”
And…Maya running and jumping her hand in front of the camera!
AND…my laugh. Go big or go home, right?
We had texted Charlie ahead of time to let her stay up until we got home.
Yeah…she was happy to take pics with me, but her alone? NOT happening… 🙂
Before all this…
Not so graceful dismount… 🙂
I’ve had this top (ok, technically it was sold as a dress, but…that never happened!) for SO long, and I still love it! I think it’s such a fun alternative for those of us that might be past the point of a mini dress to pair it with a pair of skinny jeans!
GAh, I looooooove capturing us looking at eachother!
I keep saying “This is the last time…”
And this is how she takes posed pictures now haha.
BUT….before all that fun, we walked to her school for the last time…
And she graduated!!!
The dismounts of the throws don’t always look as good haha.

Love the back of this top!
Oh, and this skirt? I thrifted it for $3.50 at Value Village when they had their pre 4th of July sale on Sunday (retailed for $88!)! I wouldn’t normally pick a denim pencil skirt, but it caught my eye, and I’ve worn it twice since then-ha! 🙂
OMG, her face!!!
Loooooooove!
Charlie had been out walking Max and came up behind us to photo bomb.
Loooooove this one!
And…BOTH of our faces ha!
Oh, and I can say this is total artistic shot, BUT…no, it’s Maya putting her wand RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE LENS!
The parade ends at a park/viewpoint, and they have vendor sites set up all over that have fun things for kids to do.
They had super fun burlap sack races, but Maya didn’t want to do it, and then quickly got bored.
Yup, this is the best family pic we got. hahaha.
Meme (my mom) managed to get a little smile from her though!
Back at home…sucker all gone.
Tried to get one of just us…
In all years past, we’ve lit fireworks in front of our house. To be noted, they are illegal in Seattle. BUT…we always went around and told our neighbors, and lots even came to watch!
