Whew…this one was kind of hard for me… I’m not much of a print person, unless it’s stripes or animal print, and honestly…I feel like those are just neutrals!

I decided to stay in my comfort zone and just go with the same color family.

AND…all the stars aligned and I convinced Maya to run out and take some pics during her school lunch break! I literally just threw a printed dress and leather jacket over what she was already wearing!

Honestly, I barely had the mental bandwidth to get through the day sometimes, much less get dressed in something other than sweats.

The funny thing is that getting dressed for me is a total mood booster! Yet, I just couldn’t do it….

SO thankful for @TheMomEdit and their #TMEStyleCHallenge 🙏🏻 I feel like they always do these RIGHT when I need them! The minute they announced it, I felt myself getting excited. I started brainstorming outfits, which may seem trivial, but for me…it’s just FUN!

Today is the first day, and it was “Layer a House Dress”.

First off….what IS a house dress? Well….ever so helpful google says-

I’m not going on errands, but I wore it to Instacart my Costco groceries today!

I added a long duster sweater (basically a robe!), a vintage belt, some leather leggings, and fun booties.

Promptly lost the belt, leggings, and shoes right after I shot these, and am now back in my super comfy house dress.

The challenge goes on for the entirety of February. Who wants to join me??! I’m hoping I can convince Maya to do a few with me 🥰

I honestly miss taking a shower every day (I know…GROSS, but…I can’t be bothered the last 10 months-SPOILER). I’ll share soon why-If you follow us on Instagram, you know…. It was SUPER windy today, and we ran out in between downpours. The wind can be a total pain (as in I was totally panicked that it would blow my tripod and camera over!!), and it can also make you look like you are in a professional wind blown shoot….Maya’s hair needs it’s own hashtag!

Not going to lie…I have NOT been in the mood to take pictures lately…

Distance Learning…Rental property projects…SO much more that I won’t share, because we are ALL dealing with shit right now!!

This is the first time I’ve taken pictures of us together that were NOT in our backyard or the sidewalk in front of our house in SEVEN months!

Gah…this makes me SO SAD!!

I took some pictures of Maya last weekend for her birthday during our trip to Friday Harbor. It made me realize how much we both miss it.

And to clarify….Maya states ALL THE TIME-

“I HATE pictures!!” UGH, she does NOT! BUT, she clearly loves to oppose ME…

It was easier when it was just our backyard, but she knows how much I want it, and takes a stand. It takes ALL KINDS OF BRIBES to get her to go take pictures, and yet…when we go somewhere, she’s running all over the place having fun! She comes up with ideas for shots, and totally gets into it! I LOVE that side of it, but the actual getting her out of the house to go TAKE the pictures?

UGH…

But…we ventured out today with our masks on hand. I went to one of my favorite secluded spots, and…NOBODY WAS THERE!!

AND!!! We had so much fun!! As we ALWAYS DO!! It’s just so hard to get her out of the house…

The day before…Maya decided to give herself a neck tattoo! I mean…why NOT before PICTURE DAY???

I mildly freaked out a little INSIDE, but then decided I could give two shits with ALL we’ve been dealing with. She wanted it.

The girl taking her picture complimented her on it, and it made the most genuine smile she’s ever had in her school picture!!

And that is when things shifted for me… SHE wanted that neck tattoo. SHE loved it. SHE felt confitdent and loved the way she looked.

Happy Birthday Maya!

I’m constantly in awe of…

…your adventurous spirit!

…the way you make friends wherever you go.

…your ability to laugh and and how infectious it is!

…the way you can make up the most amazing imaginative stories.

…how you can make up a song in the span of a few minutes.

…the way you can argue your point which can simultaneously drive me crazy, impress me, make me proud, and often times sway me.

I am so unbelievably proud of who you are and feel SO lucky to be your mom.
