While my taste in clothing is sometimes all over the board, I do have a few things that I always fall back on as my tried and true uniform.
One of those combos is…
Striped top + Destroyed Denim + Comfy tennis shoes.
I vary the combo in sleeve length, fit of the jeans (skinny, boyfriend, straight leg), and color of the shoe, but it’s pretty much a no fail comfy, yet stylish combo.
I decided to step out of my comfort zone and try a few lens that I rarely use. I have so many lens, and tend to only use the same one or two over and over. Such a waste of both money, and my creativity!!
I only brought my 35mm and my Lensbaby on this day which definitely gives a different look than I’m used to. ESPECIALLY the Lensbaby (below), but I ended up loving the shots I took. Maybe because they were different??
Oh, and my remote trigger is still not working, so it was back to the self timer shots. GRRRR!
DYING though…Kinda love how Maya is totally out of focus running to me on the image below! I would NEVER attempt an action shot with a Lensbaby with a client, but…maybe….??? One of my biggest regrets is that I don’t take more images that I WANT to capture with clients. How are they supposed to know, if I don’t take them?!!
That’s going to be my goal going forward. Although, It’s going to be hard. I love sunset images (aka, the golden hour), and I know ALL of us are trying to get our kids to bed then!! SO HARD! I tried really hard to get a few images that show that sunny haze, buLOVE this next one!
And then the 35mm. I NEVER use this lens, and I have NO idea why! I always thought it distorted the images, but it totally doesn’t! AND…big bonus? I could set the camera up about 4 feet away, which made running back and forth to hit the timer totally easy-WIN!!
I think with clients, I prefer to be farther away from them to make them more at ease, and zoom lens let me do that… Oh, and you can’t beat the bokeh of a zoom lens!
BUT…being able to run back and forth and get these with a self timer? I’ll take it!
I can’t even… I know I say that all the time, but I’m just SO not good with words! And yet, I end up capturing exactly what I want to say, so…maybe I’m better with imagery words?
And, just to show you what happens when you get a liiiiiittle bit closer. You lose the sun flare and haze. I’m totally torn, because I love both!! Yet, they are absolutely different!
Oddly enough, where we went isn’t a huge park. It’s right across the street from the beach, and not big at all!
Not the most picturesque of shots, but she kept jumping back and forth from these, so I had to capture it 🙂 The city/beach is across the street to the right. I should have done a panorama shot in the “keeping it real” section! Next time…because we will be back. Actually, we’ve been here before a few times, but it always looks different.
On me…

High five to mom uniform!! Bc that’s me too!! hehe! I love these images. the Lensbaby makes everything look so dreamy…I may need to purchase. And I love the sun flares you got with the 35mm. Now you have me looking for new lenses. LOL! Happy weekend!
